except that if you're a boxer you do them either with gloves or bandages on.
they don't tend to do them barehand, you're just putting more stress on a part you already put a lot of stress on, chances are you got blisters on them if you train often and hard enough and now you're also using them for pushups.

How much do you twist your arms when doing knuckle push-ups? I found the "corkscrew" sort of movement helpful when doing one armed pushups, but it's hard to do it on my knuckles.

I can't use my palms as I have synovial cyst on my left hand, doing classic push up fuck me up and overall any pushing motion is painful, apparently it's not fixable, I'd rather use a push up bar/handles compared to knuckle push up desu
