From your post, I gather that he ate mostly meat as a source of nutrients, since no starchy vegetables (be it potatoes, rice or grains) can be properly digested raw. And the leafy vegetables do not account for much macros at all (micros either, for the matter), being allowed even on low carb diets.
If that's true, it's indeed a wonder he cured himself, but it's also a subject that has been recently gaining attention on medical. This "paleoketogenic" diet (that could be called primal as well) is the current protocol for curing many diseases at paleomedicina.com, a hungarian "medical think tank", comprised of MDs and neuroscientists.
Reading on to the paleomedicina.com page, you'll find plenty of articles (most high ranked), reporting the treatment of several auto immune diseases by means of limited "paleo" diet: diabetes, epilepsy, and many many more, including some cancers such as resistant neuroglioblastoma.
At justmeat.co, especially on the 3rd column, you'll find many other MDs, PhDs etc that propose eating just meat (or very mostly meat) as a means of getting rid of systemic diseases (most, if not all, to complete remission).

Raw meat, raw dairy, raw eggs, raw honey. Cooking destroys vitamins, enzymes and bacteria that is beneficial to you and is completely harmless in raw foods. Bacteria only becomes a problem in cooked food because it feeds on the toxic byproducts of cooking. Remember that scene in Rocky where he chugs the raw eggs? Yeah, he didn't get salmonella poisoning. People have been chugging raw eggs for a long time and never getting sick. It's healthy.
Veganism has been pushed hard recently and it's bullshit. If anyone reading this is vegan, stop right now. You are missing many nutrients in your diet, like the B vitamins. Veganism is like the fake counter culture. Primal is the real shit.
