probably, its just fat and it spreads over his body. if youd hit your rib with a hammer at 3x slower speed itd hurt more
Focus on losing weight and saving up for a squat rack, or get a gym membership. Squatting 40kg is awful

Follow the program until you deload twice on a lift ("plateau"). When you plateau, perform intermediate programming (or Rippetoe's advanced novice) if strength is your goal. Otherwise, move on to something aesthetics based
