How has life been treating you, my children of darkness? Have you grown out of your mopey or edgelord phase and became a proper adult? Are you still enjoying moments of melancholy? What kind of music did you listen to then and what kind of bands are you listening to now?
>tfw always had fascination with goths since early teens >too beta/lame to do anything about it >now in college and too old to embrace the style I hope you at least haf fun gothbot. I wasted my teens sitting in my room alone on the internet.
college isn't too old to embrace the style, college is one of the last times you can dress like a clown with no real repercussions

I'm an eternal edgelord I still find new ways to be transgressive and weird. Doesn't mean I'm not also an adult. I still dress in all black just not as theatrical as before. I still listen to the same music and go to shows when they happen.
Anyone who "grew out of it" was never true to begin with.
Christian Rivera
Never fit into any scenes but I listened to the music goths generally liked
And fuck no I'm 26 and still live in a non stop state of melancholy and will probably forever jam my edgelord tastes.

Back when I first started listening to Metal I liked Cradle of Filth for a brief period before becoming a fully fledged Black Metal elitist. I guess I dislike the idea of "Goth" being the catch all term for people fascinated with the Darker aspects of reality. It was never about the image, though I do tend to have the generic metalhead neckbeard look. It was more something I internalized, I was more curious about the Pagan side than the Satanic side.

I'm just casual now. All black basic cloths kinda thing.
Lifes been pretty depressing still but I'm still here so I got that going for me.
Mopey still sure but not an edgelord. Used to mostly listen to industrial stuff. Lots of Ministry and Nine Inch Nails. These days for some reason Ive been listening to a lot of rap. Used to hate it but it's growing on me. Find a lot of Hip hop to be really good as well.

I listen to metal (and some actual goth bands sometimes) and dress like a schoolshooter, am I goth?
I feel like if you didn't hop on the bandwagon early its pointless. Plus I don't care about music, I liked the clothes and edgy attitude of em.

Does becoming a goth increase your chances of getting a big titty goth gf?
Brody Flores
I'm still pretty gothy, all things considered. It just isn't as noticeable because goth itself is less of a thing now.
Jeremiah Allen
None of that matters at all dude, get over the needless inhibition you have and just do it if you like it. Some goths might get bent out of shape about "posers" but they are just fags who care too much about shit that doesn't matter.
Cameron Rodriguez
I like gothic music and "Dark Scene" stuff in general and have been a chronically depressed permavirgin shutin for my entire life, but I've never felt obligated to dress a certain way.
Mostly because I don't have friends and don't go outside anyways
>hanging out with people who like the same stuff is stupid
Thanks, it was a fun ride. I started becoming goth at the age of 14. I'm 20 years old now and I stopped dressing too dark now. Used to run around with a trenchcoat, now I just wear black shirts, hoodies and post-punk band shirts. I'm still listening to the traditional 80s goth music but also many other genres.
I agree: People who grow out of it are posers anyway. But I'm not a teen anymore and the goth look is starting to look more and more ridiculous on me. Still writing a lot of poetry, listening to darkwave and being melancholy...
Well, maybe not a big titty goth gf... but my outfit helped me getting my first girlfriend, which was a tomboy by the way. She liked my feminine look...
>who else should I try to be friends with? cool dudes who accept you for who you are

Trust me: When you get good hobbys many people can relate to, it's easy to find friends. Try getting into politics or modern philosophy like Nietzsche, Schopenhauer, Kant. Lavey or Machiavelli. READ their books, you don't have to follow their way of life. They have toxic thoughts anyway... BUT it's an interesting topic to discuss with other people. I, for example, made friends with a chad with these kind of topics.
Just be the best version of yourself. The smile and care you put on for your grandma? Use them on others too.
