who else loves going by train? Im sitting in one right know, enjoying the beautiful sights and listening to my favorite music. Trains are the most comfy way of traveling imo. Do you enjoy taking trips? Lets have some travel talk

Moved to Europe from the States and trains are by far the best way to travel. But shouldn't this be in /trv/?
I cant because niggers, homeless and druggies infest them all hours of the day that they run. Fucking hate Californians
>used to take the train to and feom school
Maximum comfy honestly. Now that I'm a shit in NEET I rarely ever ride it but tomorrow I was planning on going for a ride just for fun. Pretty excited honestly
I want to know how robots feel about it thats why I posted it here. Some greentexts of good or horrible travels would be nice
I dont see many trains here in bumfuck Indiana. Went on the metro in Washington though and that shit was aesthetic.
I might go on a train ride at some point to just be comfy. Maybe get a sleeping car.
trains in germany are pretty expensive and have some issues with punctiuality but overall it's always a clean and nice experience. The busses on the other hand are disgusting
>sit in a train with an upstairs part of the carriage
>have the carriage to yourself
>listen to music
>raining outside
nothing for comf then this prove me
pro tip: you cant
I used to love to travel. Unfortunately, I've developed a serious anxiety when it comes to going somewhere I don't know. There was one time that I got severely lost coupled with depression and low self esteem which makes me check if I did everything right all the time because I don't trust myself and my judgement made me fear travelling. I'm trying to see the beauty in it again and I hope I do but until then I'll feel anxious thinking about going somewhere unknown
Ah, makes sense. Here's my first Eurotrain ride.
>Be me, Amerifag, travelling through Europe
>Have to take a train, not excited because I have a lot of luggage and trains are gross
>go underground through a weird hole in the ground, can feel the trash already
wtf
>a shopping mall?
>polished granite and marble?
>find my platform, it's clean and not crowded
>I start feeling a bit hopeful; maybe Eurotrains aren't as bad as NYC ones.
>Train arrives, perfectly on time and clean as anything
>climb aboard, store my luggage, take a seat
>train starts going, trolley comes down the aisle and gives out free food and water.
>"Gas no gas?"
>Don't know what this means so I respond in Spanish, hoping nobody speaks it
>they don't, get regular water
>dude across the aisle pulls out his laptop, starts watching Captain America: Civil War
>Loud enough to hear somewhat, it's in Czech or something based on the subtitles.
>Watch a bit, he notices
>Switches subtitles to English and turns it towards me, gives a thumbs-up
>Give him the a-ok. We're bros now.
>smooth ride, pleasant experience
>old Polish lady next to me tries to talk, can't speak the language but we say stuff anyway, having a nice time
>5 hours later I get off the train
Definitely the best way to travel. Fuck buses.
I love traveling by train, but i never really use trains because i stay inside all day.
Get lost on purpose near your house, find the fun in getting back with only your wits.
The thing is I have good orientation and I can find my way most of the time. I have no idea what happened that day but it has stuck with me ever since. It's stupid because it was only once compared to all of the other times. I just need to solve my confidence issues and I think I should be alright. Easier said than done...
Oof, that sucks m8
I once sat on the upper floor in a big double decker travel bus, and I was all the way in the front, right above the driver. In front of me was a big ass window I looked out off the entire trip. I fell asleep at one point and when I woke up we were on a highway going through some hills, it was like 3AM, my fav song was playing and I just stared at the road and chilled. SO COMFY
Love using trains, especially long distance ones, brings memories of going to camps when I was a kid and not a fuck up, and plenty of nostalgia in general
I live in Poland, so we still have some old trains, that actually make sound, you know the rhythmic knocking. With open windows there were sounds of passing villages and other trains, you could smell the countryside very often. And during the dusk or dawn, looking at the passing posts and listening to the knocking of wheels it almost felt like you were hypnotized by this, like you were falling into some kind of trance.
Sadly, nowadays trains are very quiet, with air conditioning and stuff, it is not bad when you commute regularly, but I used to ride trains for enjoyment.
Cont.
I have one story worth of greentext:
>sitting at the station in a very contemplative mood, like I'm not there at all
>spot two girls across the tracks
>beautiful face, thick eyebrows, nice jaw, gorgeous face, really nice sounding laugh
>she walks with her small and rather fattier friend
>both girls are rather gothish, lot of piercing and tattoos
>I kind of unconsciously stare at them for too long (literally stare rape) as they pass through the station down to the underground passage
>train arrives, get in, take a sit next to old lady
>two girls take seats in front of me (numbered section)
>pretty one avoids eye contact, but the fatty one starts
>"You know it was creepy to stare like that, you are creep" and something about me needing to change a seat because they feel uncomfortable
>still being in kind of dreamy mood, I got my le intellectual *tips fedora* chad mode activated and said something (loose translation)
>I really apologize for me staring too long and I see that it might make you uncomfortable, I wasn't thinking and got charmed by your friend's exceptional appearance, and it is only natural to want to keep looking at things you find beautiful
>the fatty went full ape, raising voice and accusing me of literal rape
>old lady came to the rescue saying that "this young gentleman seems like a good person, and you are the one that is behaving out of place"
>the fatty took the nice girl and pushed her our of our section, they are leaving to complain to the conductor
>nice girl, before she left looked at me and gave me really big, nice, heartwarming grin
>never seen her again
>spent the ride talking about literature with old lady
>old trains, that actually make sound, you know the rhythmic knocking. With open windows there were sounds of passing villages and other trains, you could smell the countryside very often
Sounds so fucking comfy.
It is really comfy, especially if you get a window seat. Bonus points when it is raining.
Other people there are not that bad, especially if they are quietly chatting, turning pages of a book or newspaper creating, together with the sounds of a train, the hypnotizing mixture
Too many angry teenagers
>be ausfag
>live in surburbs
>catch train into city to go to anime expo (told parents i'm going to watch movie with friends, even though i have none really)
>train is fucking 10 mins late
>2/3 of the way we suddenly stop
>15 mins goes by
>driver announces in a heavy accent that we're being held up indefinitely by trackwork
>nigga what
>there's no trackwork on this line
>10 mins later we finally start moving again
>go into tunnel
>stop again for 5 mins in tunnel
>finally reach stop
>get out and go up stinky stairway, get lost while walking to con
FUCKING NSW GOVERNMENT MAKE YOUR TRAINS MORE RELIABLE REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
all i get is chinks looking at weird shit on their oversized phones
>Trains are the most comfy way of traveling imo.
It's decent to me ngl
>Do you enjoy taking trips?
Well, I love seeing places like whenever someone driving the car, I'll either sit on the right side of the backseat or on the middle backseat so I can see the view. Seeing places or views makes me wonder that this world is truly magnificent.
We dont have trains where i live.
Just buses. And they suck. Always late, full of minorities, and in the drivers are retards.
Whenever i get a real job and start making alot of money im gonna go on a vacation to Europe just to see if their train system really is the best in the world like everyone says.
This.
Public transportation in America is utter shit.
I just moved to Poland, and some of the older trains (PKP Intercity, anyone?) are just fantastic. Rode one from Lodz to Gdynia and it was exactly how you described. Just lovely.
For good reason. Fucking makes all the immigrant trash leave.
Maybe when we're actually strict about who we let in. Than we can build public transportation.
If you live in a big US city you can ride a train. It's pretty fun to get a day pass and just explore the city that way. Just watch out for bums and shitskins.
I moved to Germany and the trains do seem expensive. I don't understand why though.
I have only used the tram so far and it's nice. But I'm living in a smaller city, so the tram is pretty limited and I find the layout weird and not optimal. Haven't used the bus yet, because I don't know how it works and I don't want to embarrass myself.
My favourite public transport was in Madrid. Their metro is just amazing.
I live in a comfy Romanian mountain town, and we have old, slow trains like those described. I love to travel by train whenever I need to go to the big city for whatever reason. It's such a calm, soothing ride.
>could hear the counryside
It's impossible to hear things in a train, especially the old ones you described.
Yeah, "smooth" bullet trains suck ass because they lack character.
Not at all, mate. You're just not listening.
You're just imagining the sounds then.
Ride trains through the countryside often?
Yes, every two weeks. In old ones you either hear only the train when the window is opened, in new trains you hear pretty much nothing because you can't open the window.
New trains are shut. Older trains you can, as he said:
>hear passing towns and trains
>smell the countryside
Where do you live that you can't?
Trains stop at rural stations, and slow down near them and/or near unguarded crossings, that is when you can hear cow mooing, tractor passing etc. Besides in some part of Poland, especially on local railways, trains can go very slow, even below 40 km/h
It's awesome. On the trip to Gdynia I mentioned, we stopped at some train station for over half an hour. Just a yellow platform made of stone, think there was a building on the other side but out of my view. Saw a dirt road going to a nice farmhouse where a well-dressed man was getting into his car, woman waving at him from the doorway. Other than that it was all open farmland and some trees. If it weren't for the crowded train, I think it would have been the most perfect moment in my life.
i commute 40 miles one way by train daily
that combined with the fact that the train schedule not lining up with classes makes it a pretty miserable time
I will take my car on this train for my next holiday, I also booked a three-person sleeping cabin for me alone. Cost me as much as two two way plane tickets from Europe to New York.

Only a car is better than the train, because you dont have to use extra steps to get to train station. But if you hate driving train might be the best way of traveling
Owning a car is nice but driving for too long sucks. having to drive everywhere is a huge pain in the ass especially in America since everything is so far apart from each other. Theres traffic, construction blocks, and if youre 8n some rathole flyover you have to commute hrs to actual civilization.
I love trains in japan because they are really safe, no gypsies or niggers trying to steal your luggage. I can sleep all the way or be very relaxed.
Last time i was there i had the chance to ride the izumo train, going from izumo to tokyo overnight, i thought because i can sleep so well in coach, being laid down would be better. Nope. I couldnt sleep all night.
In the USA or Europoor you just cant relax.
