How do rugby players train (besides playing rugby)?

How do rugby players train (besides playing rugby)?
What's their routine?

smashing cunts faces in

They cycle test by keeping their heads at crotch level for hours on end.

...what?

eat clen and tren hard obviously.

GPP

big 4 and power cleans

>tfw started new schedule so i cant make it to practice now

>GPP
>big 4 and power cleans

I-I don't know what these mean

>he can't into basic biology
The testosterone particles released by sweaty balls are inhaled and later metabolized through cold showers.

Attached: rug.jpg (900x530, 110K)

So do they inhale their own balls' sweat or the others'?

Compound movements with a focus on strength not hypertrophy.

Big 4: Bench, diddle, squat, shoulder press.

>focus on strength not hypertrophy
hmm is this true? couldn't a physique like that be achieved mostly by hypertrophy than strength?

It's a shame Rugby is such an underated sport on Jow Forums - its pure spartan strength and teamwork put into a really fun game (if you know how to play)
N Americans who are a majority on this board just like to shit on it coz they don't understand it (also muh American Football)

Attached: rugbydude.jpg (615x807, 59K)

It could, and most of their GPP training is hypertrophy focused, because more muscle on a frame = more strength and power potential
they don't really focus at all on strength ,they just use movements that might have some carryover to their sport such as trap bar deadlift, squats(usually box squats), bench press(close grip usually) and cleans and presses and a bunch of pullup/pushup variations
they might also do minor isolation work out of their initiative although it's not a requirement

both
dont you usually learn this in like 4th grade biology class?
what kind of a basedfilled country do you lived in

I remembered this video looking like a brutal workout for Jonny Wilkinson

youtu.be/XUTZprhG_7k

they do seven

North American here. I'd give anything to see the downfall of "American" football and basketball but the media has cucked everyone into believing it's the GOAT sport. Rugby (among other sports) is WAY more entertaining.

READ THE FUCKING STICKY

What in the fuck

Cute that muricans are so fragile.
Doesn't surprise me that 95% of muricans are bottoms.

Roids

Basketball is still ok tho. I mean fuck it takes hard work to play well with skill.

I was visiting some family in the hospital and the TV in the waiting room was playing a women's rugby match. It's been a long time since I was so enamoured by something.

it takes hard work to play any sport at a professional level but basketball is boring as fuck. people complain about soccer because it's a low-scoring game but how is it fun watching someone score every 20 seconds. it's a sport for people with attention deficit disorders.

Most of them train for rugby by playing the tougher sport, football.

Plyometrics. Great for conditioning.

Lmao this is beyond what people like Rippetoe parody when they talk about balancing on balls and stuff, it looks fucking pointless, how is this better than any other cardio? What a gimmick

What, one of them wears makeup and a fucking suit of armour? Rugby eternally BTFOd I guess

That happens to be the most DYEL rugby player I've ever seen

Yes clearly you know more about conditioning for sports than one of the all-time greats in rugby. Wrestlers do similar exercises too. They are training for explosiveness and stamina under specific conditions relevant to their sport.

Wilkinson might have been even better than he was had he not followed the advice of that fat Geordie cunt training him, ever considered that? A bit like top UFC guys doing all that gimmicky low-altitude-mask shit etc

This. Rugby is about a lot more than athleticism. It tests your will and heart more than any other sport. It builds character and bonds with teammates you wouldn't understand unless you played.

Enjoy your reduced IQ and early dementia

yuro here
any intro guide to rugby? like rules, when/where to watch, etc.

If only other athletes listened to your pearls of wisdom. What sport do you play again? How successful were you?

>pink is gay and womanly

Aren't you supposed to be finger painting right now?

How are you European and never watched Six Nations or RWC?

"Functional fitness" is a fucking meme, but enjoy your 1-legged resistance-band squats on a squishy cushion or whatever.

Worth it.

Autism: the workout.

Football players V. Rugby players

Oh, so I take it you don't participate in any sports and have no achievements in them or in coaching. Please, where can I sign up to your training classes? Maybe we can get you on the horn with the All Blacks or USAW so you can share your secrets of success with them and propel their athletes to heights never before dreamed.

I do 5x5 in the off season then stuff like pic related during the season, normally make a similar program and change it every 5-6 weeks

Attached: Screenshot_20180731-212050.png (1080x1920, 302K)

See:
But yeah, those pressups holding dumbbells looked really "functional"

Rugby is for neets and pussies, if you want a real sport go for boxing or sambo where your opponents will just fuck you up
Boxers call rugby players dancers lmao

Post body

Rugby players are also usually more on the stocky side. Better leverages, more endurance, less chance of injury

>unironically liking ape hoop

Attached: 1522536095858.png (403x448, 53K)

Again, share your knowledge with the coaching staff of your national team. Clearly you know better than they.
Pic related does a very similar routine centered around plyometrics. He is an Olympic and multiple-time World Champion. Maybe you can give him some tips on how to improve himself. Obviously you know all about conditioning for specific sports and without your sage advice he is not living to his full potential.
youtube.com/watch?v=S_cSa9OgVGs
And see the next link, about 0:35-1:20 or so. Please help him with your honeyed words, his workout is obviously flawed beyond all hope despite winning an Olympic gold a couple months after this was filmed.

Between his genes, his cardio fitness and his PEDs, he's off to a good start, what makes you so sure that it's SPECIFICALLY that particular plyometric workout routine that gives him the edge?

>Wrestlers do similar exercises too
wrestling and rugby training isn't purely plyometric. weight training is an important part of both sports

>Dem Programs: The Game
>ok

not him, but it doesn't give him an edge against competition, its just how you train with sports like that, you combine w8 training and plyometrics. I wouldn't go as far to say that training for wrestling is plyo centered, but its a big part of training for a power sport like that.

he plays flyhalf to be fair, probably the position that relies the least on physicality.

Jumping on soft mats is pure agony though

>well maintained stubbel from a gq magazine, makeup, a fucking armor and something resembling yoga pants vs a dude in a pink jersey

gues who is to be ridiculed for lack of masculinity by the limpwristed faggot who posted this

I'm from Portugal, literally the only sport that exists is football, but lately everything else has been catching up.

coming weekend is the super rugby final. Just watch games if you like. any club will take in beginners gratefully. just google a club near you and show up at training for their lowest mens team or contact someone from the club

This thinking is the same as people get wrong with basic evolution.

People playing sports like this often look big and strong because of their genetics, and its because they are big and strong they keep playing the game, because they are good at it and therefore enjoy it. All the weaker men will not play it at all as they will just lose and not fit in.

U will not suddenly grow bigger playing this, + many are on actual roids to achieve better results like in every sport.

Not true bro

You would probably have an heart attack if you saw how Phil Pfister trained in order to win 2006 world's strongest man.

Boku No PIco

Rugby is fucking shit

not that flyhalf isn´t physical, but the position relies more on skills that don´t manifest in the shape of the body than other positions. flyhalfs can make up for a lot with decent feet and eyes

>i-it's the genetics! It's not my fault I was never successful in a sport!
c o p e

Who do you thinks fucked up more shit. A knight in armor or some present with a hat

I work at a professional Rugby League Club

Its mostly compounds. Every player has workout logs and spreadsheets to track 1RM etc. Usually train weights 3/4 days p/w

Also do a lot of cardio. One day a week is a long team run. Then 3 days a week or so is pretty intense stuff on rowers or wattbikes.

2 rugby sessions in training per week, and wrestling after that

Each week will vary with intensity etc. Its not all 100% max out all the time

Its all very position dependent, but most of them squat 4/5 plate plus. I wonder what kind of crazy stats Union players get, seeing as they arguably have less need for mobility/speed on the whole. Also, league players, at least at my club are all fairly young (probably mostly around 24).

My uncle was a British Lion and he mostly did half squats apparently.

actually this. this explains why rugby is big and popular is such non existent countries as georgia, fiji or tonga. the locals are just naturally huge and strong.

in numbers? peasents definitely
wearing an armor doesnt make you tough

i read about andrew sheridan, benchpressing 460lbs back when he still played

forgot to add he played prop in union, also googled it and it was 495lbs, which is pretty impresive for someone who plays 80 minutes

US vs Everyone else again? Fair fight

Here's one of Chabal's workouts youtu.be/mfy4Ad6s4jg

a lot of this

wrong vid,

youtu.be/KvO3KIg-N7Y

This guys pylometric routines looks legit. That other one with the 25lb dbs and some soft mats looked like shit.

what are you talking about?

found the manlets

any non meme ways to grow traps? traps and calves are my weak point
thinking of doing calves 3x-4x/week once I start bulking in a month

what about traps though? do they respond to really high frequency and what are the best non meme exercises for growth

pic related is my program

Attached: intermediate bodybuilding sample program.jpg (727x660, 157K)

Just do lots of pulls. Rows, shrugs, deadlifts, etc. Way I see it, you can never do too much back work anyway.

once I build my home gym I'm gonna test doing shit like shrugs 5x/week and see how it works

If you do your rows and shit right you shouldn't even have to do shrugs.

Litterly any strength program.
I went to a top rugby high school in nz and go a gym with semipro players.
Most of them just do heavy leg presses and plyo.
Just train legs back and ab's alot
Most og the guys get big quickly become they are the gentItaly the best

i do really feel my traps on facepulls, seated rows with the x handle, barbell rows, deadlifts and shit like OHP and seated press.
guess I'll stick to my routine and milk it into I reach advanced status on symmetricstrength

do miss the good old days of purely strength routines but they seem shitty(low frequency, too much lower body work or lacking acessories) for muscle gains as a natty

>(jump onto a box)
kek

Thanks for sharing tho

a lot

That wasnt even good bait...

Baseball can go straight down with American Football. Basketball can stay.
I would like to see Rugby substitute American Football and Lacrosse substitute Baseball.

>lacrosse

Anyone who says anything other than drinking piss and working on a farm is full of shit

What kind of degree do you need to get a job with a pro sports team?

they run and lift

GENETICS

Aussie cunt checking in here..

Rugby Union is fucking slow and boring. Still nowhere near as slow as your shitty 'Murican Footballll'.
Rugby League is the SHIT! Fast paced, no annoying slow scrums, no flinging cunts in the air like ballerinas and best of all there are some good biffs!
Most of the top tier Rugby League guys from what I have seen do the BIG 3 in the gym and the rest are more accessory work that translates into the game.
Look up cunts like Sonny Bill Williams, Jason Taumalolo, Marty Tapou and Ryan Matterson.
Some dudes are mass monsters and others are pretty shredded.
I would also just like to point out that hardly any other country gives a flying fuck about Murican Footballll and your Superbowl... Enjoy your padding, helmets, makeup and long rests between play... gay shit...

Wanna know how I know you're poor?

Guy on left looks better, the fuck are you going on about

Please continue to enlighten me on my financial status while you peck away at your crusty old cum stained microsoft keyboard in the dark in your grandparents basement while Mummy cops another load to the chin for your next meal faggot.

The guys in my uni's nationally ranked rugby team did bench, squat, leg press, clean and press and core workouts. They would do random upper back work too.
