I'm coaching my girlfriend on lifting. She's got bad knees, in part because she's got a rare form of arthritis. As a result, she can't go very low with her squats without rounding at the bottom. Additionally, she experiences knee pain when getting into deadlift form. Would there be any issue in having her start training her deadlifts with blocks, using progressively shorter blocks as she gets more limber in the lower body?

Pls respond

youtube has a lot of decent vids on improving your voice. if you're really into it look up some singing voice videos as well. there's a lot we can do with our vocal chords and proper air flow

What does creatine actually do, how long does a person take it for and what happens when they stop?

It can probably be better, but it's not necessarily bad. Just make sure to do abs as well.

No, just rest up, stretch/foam roll it and take it slow for 1-2 sessions when you get back.

Block would probably be fine when deadlifting. Maybe see if sumos are easier/less painful for her.

You can probably stop bulking. You don't need to be that fat in order to hit 1/2/3/4

A friend of mine explained it to me, and it basically comes down to creatine being a back-up battery for your muscles when they're exhausted from heavy lifting/lots of reps. You take it for however long you want to be lifting seriously, as there is no loading phase or whatever and generally no side effects. When you stop, you might lose some power in your muscles and you might lose some water weight/bloat, as creatine causes a little water retention.

Is 1/2/3/4 measured from your 1RM for each lift?

Yes.

Lmao no just take it easy for a week, deload some weight, and be very careful with your form.

Just found out my wife is pregnant. How much extra does she really need to eat? Her sister is also pregnant and is blowing up. Anyone know of any good resources for pregnancy nutrition?

I just discovered that i have a hard bump in my left nipple and under my left trap muscle.
It feels likea lymph knot but i am not sure.
Should I go see a doctor or wait?

It depends on her current BMI. For a normal BMI, about 12-15kg, most of it during the second trimester of pregnancy.

There are a few reddit with very good info and resources, look it up. r/babybumps , r/breastfeeding , even r/ketobabies if you're into it is really nice.

She's pretty small, like 5'2 110 lbs, so she's worried about getting huge. I'll check those out though and see what I can learn. Thanks.

Sup guys. I lift 3 days a week, run 3 days a way, and rest on Sunday (Well I do some mobility and yoga but nothing really taxing on the muscle). I added some heavy bag drill for 14 minutes (of actual work) five days a week. Is it too much guys?

i cut my left index finger pretty bad last night. should i man up and go to the gym or should i just wait for it to heal? i dont wanna skip bench but i also dont want it to rip open more

Why is the deadlift traditionally done very heavy at 1x5 instead of with lighter weight at 3x5 or 5x5

Anyone have any tips for making cutting more consistent? I eat on target all day but end up binging at night on usually the third or forth day without fail. I should mention, I'm on the last 20 lbs to lose.. I keep fluctuating between like 5 lbs for the past month

Depends how bad it is, really. If it needs stitches (whether you have them or not) them skip.
If it's on the tip of your finger though, you might be able to go in and not use your index.

Depends on a lot of things. Protein intake on one day won't fuck up you're progress whether you bulk or cut or maintain.
If you're cutting, cheating will in pact you're progress depending on the calorie intake. If you blow up you can easily over eat for the whole week. Really. Especially if you're deficit is light.
If you're bulking, you'll turn a lot of shit into fat and won't be able to bulk for the same amount of time. But the muscle built will be the same.
I guess you're cutting though. Calculate the calories. If you cheat for more than your weekly deficit, then you'll gain fat...

Maintenance doesn't rely on hunger, or capacity to eat. It depends on body composition.

Depends on budget, and the wheel height you want. Romaleos are higher, harder-soiled and more expensive than adipowers.

NO. Not even with body weight.

Because it's very taxing on the CNS once you go really heavy.

Alternate. Eat 4 days at deficit, and fifth a maintenance. Otherwise, you could also ban any binging food. That way you won't have the will to do it. Or will end up binging on sticks of celery. Might also want to split the meals over the day, and eat something just before sleeping.

Is Mark Rippetoe a liar or can I actually hit 1/2/3/4 on SS?

20g melatonin day 3 at 9pm

You're fine. Use a bandage pretty tight (as you seem to have done), take some spares in case shit happens, and lift without putting any pressure on your finger (like imagine you're fingerless). You probably won't be able to lift a PR, but it should be ok.

I need help Jow Forumsizens, from like 3-4 months ago I got down from 90.5kg to 77-78 (169-172lbs, I'm 6'0"). Been hovering around there for some time, I gained a bit of muscle but I still got a bit of man tits and a small-ish muffin top when I'm shirtless.
I have no gym anywhere close to me so all I got is calisthenics, how do I lose the damn fat? I got initial progress by doing low carb but for the past month or 2 I'm just around the same weight. I eat 2000 calories or less but I still see basically no progress. Some tiny strength info if needed is I can do 10 pull ups for 2 sets (2 months ago I couldn't do a single one).I'm honestly just confused and don't know what to do next

But if you're 6ft 170 lbs with little exercise then 2000 calories is pretty close to maintenance, right? No wonder you aren't losing a lot of weight. Drop to 1500.

Well MyFitnessPal thing says 2k cals to lose 0.5kg per week. I frequently eat 300-500 cals less than that

Is it a good idea to add HIIT to a Bulk? Would it be beneficial?
