Anyone notice that all the intermittent fasting essentially requires you to consume stimulants throughout the day?

Anyone notice that all the intermittent fasting essentially requires you to consume stimulants throughout the day?

>NO THATS NOT TRUE I DONT DO THAT AND I DO INTERMITTENT FASTING REEEEE

I am not saying EVERYONE who does IF relies on stimulants, but most do, even the people on YouTube fitness community who preach it, they're chugging down black coffee and zero calorie energy drinks all day. That indicates to me that the lifestyle is not sustainable for most people and that you should actually just eat multiple meals throughout the day, with a decent pre-workout meal a few hours before training.

>drinking 10 cents worth of coffee a day isn't sustainable

ok pal

I meant the fact its a crutch that you need to have in order to stick to your lifestyle.

There should not be any need for a crutch in your lifestyle.

Also, IF doesn't work if you have any semblance of a normalfag life.

you're a moron. do you realize that having food at any available time is a very, very modern phenomenon? we descend from thousands of years of ancestors who had to adapt to food shortages and lack of sustenance. humans had to be able to hunt and survive under extreme conditions, so a bit of hunger was never an issue.

it's not a "crutch", fucking retard. and if you really want to stay absolutely clean from "stimulants", drink water or tea.

Don't you have the will-power or dedication to stay lean without doing intermittent fasting?

>we're built exactly the same as our ancestors from thousands of years ago.

Uh huh...suuuuure.

>do if
>only drink water throughout day

wow so hard

Yes, evolution is very slow

Except thats not what people do, 90% of people on IF need to consume like 300-600mg of caffeine during their fasting window to make it to their eating window

Also drinking coffee and energy drinks isn't even fasting. Most research states that anything other than water breaks the fast. .. so you are just wasting your time anyway if you drink stimulants during fasting hours

that's like 15 cups of coffee you absolute retard.

all cutting diets essentially require stimulants you slack jacked faggot

more like 3 cups buddy

jesus is this a problem for people? have lost 17kg and have used stimulants like five times during diet consisting of 3 months of IF + 1000+ kcal deficiency + 50+-20 carbs per day keto

Where you getting this information from?

it's just more self-righteous self-torture bullshit.
thought we left that crap back in the 20th century but I guess I was wrong

Yes, stimulants are the norm in keto-fasting circles, it's hilarious.
Most of these gurus have low energy despite using coffee.
Nothing wrong with fasting but if you need coffee to stay awake it's probably not for you on the long term.

So why are you relying on coffee every hour? Did our ancestors have that to rely on when they couldn't catch their food for the day?

>t. coffee addict

>it's just more self-righteous self-torture bullshit.
>thought we left that crap back in the 20th century but I guess I was wrong

I've been doing IF the last three days and didn't even know this was a thing. The biggest improvement for me has been that I now drink a lot more water, like literally 7-8 pints

same

I've actually been looking for good resources on IF because so far the only solid scientifically backed benefit to it that I can find has been that it helps you restrict calories. Can't find any evidence of the 12-hour post-meal thing leading to the 16 hour window burning fat.

Anybody?

the thing that divides us from the animals is our ability for self-denial

someone who fullfills every of his wants without analysing what the consequences will be is closer to an animal then a human being and should be treated as such

>Also, IF doesn't work if you have any semblance of a normalfag life.
You mean a 9-5 Job?
I've been working in construction doing overtime most days just drinking water for over 5 months doing IF no problem.
Faggot If I can do this most people should be able to they are just lazy and addicted to eating.
I have no idea about the youtube community around IF so I cant speak for the constant consumption of stimulation also I don't drink coffee because its the devil.
If you're bulking IF can be hard, sure but other than that you shouldn't have any other reason not to do so if you know the benefits yadayada

I'm the guy you responded to and I don't think there is. The reason why I got into IF in the first place is because GOAT mma fighter Georges St-Pierre said on the Joe Rogan podcast that IF led to a better body composition for him, that he tested at a lower body fat percentage after some months on it despite staying the same weight

If it's bad that IF'ers drink coffee, whats your opinion on people that eat consistently and also consume caffeine (ie everyone)

Don't they drink it because it speeds up fat burning?
I don't have any problems fasting without any stimulants, only water. And I'm even more active on fasting days than normal

Thanks man, yeah all the stuff I can find has questionable scientific backing - the obvious thing is that you won't eat as much in 8 hours as you do in 12-16, so I'm quite happy just using it as a reduced calorie structure and time-saver (not eating breakfast frees up my morning so much)

I do IF and don't take any stimulants, but I always workout 3 to 4 hours after lunch. There's no reason to hit the gym during your fast unless you don't have time during the rest of the day

>Needing food many times a day to stick to his lifestyle
>Using food as a crutch

Enjoy your bulimia user

They're trying to get people to swap their food fixes with caffeine fixes, since most keto-IF cultists are addicted to both. They're also downing kilograms of zero-calorie sweeteners per week and mixing butter into their morning coffees. It's awe-inspiring how few of them actually fast.

they don't need it to make it through their fasting window, they just need it because they are caffeine addicts. If they actually gave it up for a few days they wouldn't feel like they need it

Ok, but if I don't use them then why do I have to stop?

I do IF and I occasionally have a cup of coffee in the morning because I like coffee. I consumed the coffee before I started IF - it isn't a new habit and it's certainly not a daily one.

In particular, I don't drink coffee on gym days - and my gym days include both weights and running ~4 - 5 miles. Yesterday was a rest day, so I treated myself to a cup of coffee in the morning when I would have normally gone to the gym.

I think you might be seeing a correlation that isn't really there and extrapolating from it. Workouts can be difficult at first when you start IF because your body hasn't quite realized that it needs to bogart the shit out of its glycogen, but after a few workouts, the sense of fatigue goes away.

Memes aside, how do you guys actually train fasted or just on caffeine?

I always eat 100g of carbs from pasta and drink 1.5L of water pre-workout. I basically need it to feel really explosive and strong.

I drink 1 cup of coffee and a glass of water and thats it bro.

I'm I just started and dealt with feeling weak for a few workouts. I'm not sure what you mean by "feeling explosive" but by lifts have gone up consistently and my runs have gotten longer and faster. I can't speak for anyone else, but for me, it was just a matter of pushing until my body adjusted.

the fasting is not a crutch, its no more of a crutch than exercising is. You are just not eating because you don't need to get energy from food you consume 100% of the time and instead wish to burn your fat cells for energy like your body is supposed to work. All fat is meant to eventually be burned up by your body, not stored for your entire fucking life. Fasting is the most effective way to burn fat. Period.

And there are different kinds of fasting. You can consume liquids on a fast, depending on the kind of fast you're doing.

>i don't know how evolution works
there was no need to breed out our old fat storing burning genetics, thus it is still with us today because there is no real advantage to getting rid of it.

I got OP's source right here!

I drink 2L of coffee a day without doing any IF. What's your point?
