When you reach the height of self-control, and get rid of all of your addictions and dependencies...

When you reach the height of self-control, and get rid of all of your addictions and dependencies, what even is the point after all of that? You spend all this time working out, going on no fap, cutting out ALL delicious food, cutting out ALL alcohol and drugs... For what reason exactly? It's like saving up a lot of money, without spending any of it.

no its not faggot stop finding meaning in hedonism. abstinence and the joy of self control IS the reward (also Heaven)

You'll never understand what the point is. Might as well go back to being a hedonist.

Asceticism and hedonism are sides of the same coin. There are people addicted to fasting, addicted to never experiencing joy, addicted to status they get when other people see them as a self-control god. Self-confidence is also addicting. Who decides which addictions are acceptable?

We arent really losing anything, thats just low level paradigm. We just getting the same high and bliss constantly that others get temporary from quick fixes and brief pleasures that society gives to them as easy solutions, but without the withdrawl and other drawbacks.

We all seek hapiness, others are just get there momentarily in their lifes and return to fears/anxiety/desire/guilt/greed/aphaty that they want so much to escape, supress or express and others have decided and learned to live the hard way in constant cloud9.

>Who decides which addictions are acceptable
the ones that are actually beneficial to yourself and society, like not being a fat fuck

Good answer. But what if you're able to contend with the drawbacks without completely ruining yourself? Should you still abstain?

I'm talking about AFTER you accomplish your goals. I see complete abstinence as training wheels. The real last step is indulging yourself without letting your vices control you.

How can you accomplish a goal like health and fitness and then say "yep I'm done thats all i needed to do and will ever do" and think anyone here will take you seriously?

>cutting out ALL delicious food

This is such a meme. When you have a well-prepared beef & pesto with authentic shell pasta, then you stop wanting man n' (((cheese))) with cut up hot dogs. When you care about the quality of your food, you stop wanting a large soda to go with your meal.

There's a lot of goals that benefit from waking up on Saturday without a hangover. If you lack that imagination, then the case against alcohol and drugs speaks for itself.

>When you reach the height of self-control, and get rid of all of your addictions and dependencies, what even is the point after all of that?
You will never achieve that, isn't it obvious? This is a lifetime struggle.

>Asceticism and hedonism are sides of the same coin.

Is being addicted to something having self-control, brainlet? As this thread shows you have a very simplistic view of self-actualization, asking question far beyond your scope of experience. I don't know brainlet, what does come after you accomplish your goals? That is something only you can answer for yourself, it isn't an answer you can find by asking people "what happens after you accomplish your goals?" And you can't answer that because you're still not even sure what your goals are. You're speculating.

Dont listen to these faggots, the real goal is to balance your hormones and tolerances to them so that your rare pleasures feel much more intense and enjoyable when you do get them. On top of this, improving yourself might mean your rare pleasures themselves become greater, (hotter women, fast cars, whatever) and more frequent. Biological brains are just machines that try to maximize net positive input, once you realize this it is obvious that hedonism is inherent to being alive, unless you buy into some religious bullshit. The next important realization after that, though, is that boundless hedonism is unsustainable; one can only hope that their efforts will someday open the door to boundless hedonism.

this.
OP is either 14 or retarded or both

There is no fruit of virtue other than itself.

Smoke weed. You unironically deserve it at this point

NO... no... no... keep wasting the best years of your life living like a nun. I need you to use all the saved up money to invest in my stock portfolio.

And you'll need that healthy set of organs to fight off the cancer you'll get when you're 60.

because doing those type of things makes me hate myself less.
i feel like shit when i eat bad food, i feel like shit after i fap and i feel like shit when i drink alcohol.
>what even is the point after all of that
nothing you fucktard. we're all going to die in the end, there's no point in anything in life.

I do it all so I can get a gf. I’m unsuccessful so far.

You're supposed to have other interests in life beyond being fit.

some people dont understand moderation OP, in ALL things. some people here believe they are some sort of fitness monks or some shit, if you are really loving life just work, gym, sleep everyday, or getting fookin jacked is your life goal or some shit then by all means continue. i would advise to use some moderation or you just gonna be that 50 something gymcel in no time.
like honestly i just saw a thread with a guy complaining about taking a fucking vacation because it was eating into his fitness regimen. like ffs, working out is great and eating healthy is great but dont be afraid to cut loose sometimes. people can develop a kind of ocd about fitness and health that will lead to stress level spiking because they ate the wrong thing or missed a workout or they jerked off or some shit.
if you dont want to live your life in guilt about any little mistake you have made or every time you wandered from the path i would suggest learning some moderation, key to happiness imo and a lifelong value
