Yes, because it grows unevenly and looks retarded. My left chest hair covers most of my chest; on the right, the upper right has almost no hair. I look retarded when I run shirtless.

I use a 9mm guard on my trimmer which is around 2/3". I'll have to try a little shorter I guess. I also shave my shoulders, back, and bicep area.
I bought a bakblade like 3 years ago and it has been a game changer... I have the original, but now I see there is a newer version which looks nicer.
