Why is this garbage allowed to be marketed towards kids?

Why is this garbage allowed to be marketed towards kids?

It's not, it's marketed towards parents.
Shit parents breed obese kids.

do you want to live under a nutritional dictatorship you fucking pinko?

>the love of money
An omnipotent being literally wrote a walkthrough for the game called life and people wonder the most obvious shit...ya can't help us! Most of us

As long as there's no fatties

Ever been in a cereal aisle? Look at the placement of sugary cereals (at the heights of kids) compared to the healthier options (up top). Look also at who advertises where (cartoons, for example).

Attached: file.png (1054x690, 1.64M)

but the cereals on top are just as bad as fruit loops and captain crunch. just because it's made with 'bunches of oats' or granola doesn't mean it still isn't stuffed with sugar. the only cereals there that are ok are the bran flakes, special k and rice krispies, and even those are arguably still high calorie

redpilled

Cereal is good for you because it was made as a nofap supplement. Thanks, Kellogg.

Averages for each shelf (per 40g of cereal):
>Top shelf
>honey bunches of oats, bran flakes, all bran, mueslix
>134 kcal, 7.8g sugar

>2nd from top
>gorilla munch, raisin bran, granola bran, oat bran
>150kcal, 11.6g sugar

>3rd from top
>fruity pebbles, cocoa krispies, apple jacks, froot loops
>154kcal, 15.9g sugar

>bottom shelf
>special k, rice crispies, frosted flakes, corn flakes
>150 kcal, 7.6g sugar
The middle two shelves (eye level for most kids) are much higher in sugar content than the top shelf at eye level for adults and the bottom level.

I honestly dont see the problem with this

Huh never thought of that

yeah you say that now. just wait until the sugar-gestapo raid your and knock your teeth out because your neighbor said you had full calorie monster energy drinks.

To be fair, shelf placement isn't marketing. Its a store trying to move inventory, we bouta make that illegal?

How to Ruin Your Case: The Post

Companies pay for prime placement (end caps, front of the store, etc) to optimize their revenue.

Sugary cereals with bright colorful boxes go at the eyeline of kids, especially those sitting in carts which is why there is much more space between the bottom and second shelves than the others

It literally is. Huge brands pay more to get favorable position on shelves.

Okay i think we can agree that that's not cool. So what happens if we make it illegal for companies to do that. Do you think stores will suddenly stop putting products where they know they will sell?

>allowed
Because they fucking want it. Get your dictatorial ass bent.

Think about it this way:

Grocery store has two cereal brands:
Brand A
>healthy brand with natural ingredients
>costs $5000 to make a month's supply
>sells it to the grocery store for $9500 ($4500 profit)
>grocery store sells it for $10,000/month ($1000 profit)

Brand B
>unhealthy and full of garbage added sugars, etc
>costs $2500 to make a month's supply
>sells it to the grocery store for $9000 ($6500 profit)
>grocery store sells it for $10,000/month ($1000 profit)
Since the grocery store makes the same profit either way, neither should get preference, right?
But then:
>Brand B realizes they can make a lot more money by getting better placement (more facings, better locations, etc)
>pays the grocery store an extra $1000/month to give it to the best spots and crowd out the healthier brand
>they can afford to pay a lot more, since their product is cheaper and they are more profitable
It's a bit more complicated than that, but you should get the idea.
The USDA and FDA should come up with a number (say 20%) and if the sugar percentage by weight is higher than that, the box has to be black and white. Also they can't advertise on shows aimed at kids as determined by their TV rating.

tricks.. easy on the cereals

On the one hand I don't want to be a food Nazi but I remember being a kid. Do you think I was gonna eat fucking bran flakes? No I pestered my parents until I got my god damn Lucky Charms. And yeah I was a fat kid.

I don't know what the solution is, maybe show morbidly obese people on products with excess sugar, the same way they do with cigarettes and diseases lungs and whatnot

Your reasoning is rock solid. You have the moral high ground. Hell my man, in another life i might have been inclined to agree with you. But i am a firm believer that humanity is at its best when we are one bad day away from blowing our collective brains out. Too much help is a bad thing, gotta let people ruin their own lives. Lest they ruin the lives of those whose hearts bleed enough to help them.

The bible is divine inspired, not written

Same senpai, cept i never got fat. I still act the same way when i get cereal, and im still not fat.

Sometimes being half nigger isn't that bad.

Kids need energy so they don't burn out at school, and kids love sugar. It's still kinda bad that sugar is mainly market to kids because it's pretty damn addicting

tl;dr? Larping godlet here

You fuckers serious? How about some commie vegan mandatory program where you're strictly rationed lentils and basedbeans? Or how about an gestapo christian right program where shellfish is strictly prohibited, and you have to rub dirt on your head and abstain from meat every friday? Think you bozos.

The rush from eating all that sugar usually goes away within an hour, before they crash.

So if they eat cereal at 7am, it's gone by 8am, before even one class is finished.

>That bottom shelf

Absolutely disgusting, whoever runs that grocery store should be ashamed. Just add another shelf jesus christ, it would look 10x better.

There's probably boxes (like those tall Rice Krispies) which block them from putting another shelf in.

But yeah, it looks terrible

Because our government is beholden to corporate interests.
The better question is why have we created a society of parents who GIVE this shit to their kids instead of being responsible adults?

Kek go back to /h/

I like your proposed marketing restrictions. But it would never fly in “freedom”land

You have something to get off your chest, user?

>Killfrogs

fuckin nice

This or plain packaging like they do for cigarettes

Attached: file.png (1054x690, 1.25M)

like this, but unironically

They should tax this shit. God for government and beneficial for fatties

Agreed. Instead of banning stuff it should be taxed, especially to cover the social cost.
Carbon tax on gas
Obesity tax on sugar
Healthcare tax on cigarettes
Landfill tax on plastic
I consume all those products and I support taxing them. But people think it violates their “freedom.”

He means God didn’t directlywrite the Bible but divinely inspired other people to do it

But he didn't inspire other people to do it. If He exists, he inspired illiterate herders to tell stories (most of which differed between place to place and person to person) until eventually over hundreds of years some people decided to write them down and ignore the alternative versions.

>illiterate herders
>the Jewish economic profile
user...

I had to eat fackin bran flakes when I was a kid, I used to look forward to winter for porridge. Still love the smell of oats on the stove

There is literally nothing wrong with eating cereal while also being an adult. Prove me wrong

Are kids going to buy those? No, the parents buy it.
Fat kids are entirely the parents fault.

Can't believe there's people that don't already know this basic ass shit.

Attached: typical :fit:izen.jpg (971x565, 141K)

enjoy processed carbs and loads of sugar

It's the parents' fault for being weak willed fuckheads, but the kids are the ones begging and pleading for them. Because it's marketed and aimed at them.

>ketotard response

am I a brainlet for not getting this reference

Attached: cereal aisle with warnings.jpg (1054x690, 419K)

This is actually a good idea.

Attached: 1513227456448.jpg (1200x889, 132K)

excess sugar doesn't cause diabetes, it triggers it. You need to have a genetic predisposition in order to actually get diabetic to begin with.

Regardless, the point still stands that refined sugar poses health risks, and should be labelled.

but sugar contents are already labeled? If "nobody" will read that one, what makes you think they would read a different label?

remember when labels on cigarettes deterred smokers? lol

Updated because I missed a few alternate flavors. Regular Special K is fine, but Red Berries is like 3x the sugar...

Attached: cereal aisle with warnings.jpg (1054x690, 422K)

Sugar is labelled on the back and nobody knows how much they should get. it isn't even listed as a percentage (holy shit, this one bowl of cereal with skim milk has 115% of my daily sugar, maybe I shouldn't have it!)

Also I don't know what you are talking about with smoking. Cigarette smokers are way down even with the lax as fuck labeling.

my whole street knows I wouldn't be caught dead drinking anything but white Monster

Taxation is slavery

enslave the fatties then
put them in workshops building rascals and other shit fatties use until they are starved skinny
