Yes. It is hands down the best exercise that exists.

Nice triple dubs.
Ok so I just started getting into swimming now do I get good at it. Do I just do laps at a moderate pace for like an hour or what? I want max cardio gains

swim to work instead of driving

>how do I get good
you swim dude, it's not that hard. Keep swimming till you can't swim anymore and repeat till you're better.

agreed, I love swimming

>Keep swimming until you can't swim anymore
>Drown
Good job dude.

I didn't say swim in the ocean.
>he can't touch the bottom of a pool

>tfw no designated swim lane so I have to share the road with boats

Are there any good tutorials you can recommend for good form in swimming?

Not even close. It's nice and all, but it underutilizes the legs.

Just do it. Get in a pool. Set a time and then swim non stop until the time is up. You will feel it I promise. So good for your upper body and you back. I didn't get abs until I dedicated myself to swimming so much.

why do so many gooks have the gook kids swim?

population control

also wondering this. The parents are fucking gross at pools.
I wish

What's the quickest way to learn to swim?

I have swimming lessons coming up soon up it's only for 5 session at 25 mins each with an instructor.

My Parents are rich so i got a membership to a country club and i usually checkout girls who are tanning while i swim it gives me motivation
>inb4 some kid mogs me and i look like an autistic retard relaying from 1 side of the pool to the other

You hop in the pool and fucking swim

gee i don't know maybe because their island is surrounded by water

Tell the life guard to keep an eye on you, hop in the water and try not to die.

breathing is the most important thing
then form
then going fast

I would start with clenching your sinuses so water doesn't go up your nose, then try to do a flip underwater.

What stroke do you use?

I've found that freestyle and backstroke are good for cardio, breaststroke is good for abs and maybe legs, and butterfly is good for chest and back. Form is key, though. None of it will be worth anything if your form is shit.

I am in bad shape, so I do crawl until I get tired (100 meters) then switch to breaststroke for another 100m.

JESUS KIDS, put some effort in what you are doing.

Bring me the fucking cane.

Same thing with everything, do it in laps/sets.

Protip: Most pools at an average gym go at a length of 25 yards. In other words, if you swim from one end to the other that's 25 yards. If you swim back to where you started without resting that's 50. that is to imply, doing continuous laps without resting extends the distance of that rep.

Keep doing ladder routines and variations of workouts to build your endurance. Maybe invest in fins to build leg strength and work on form. Anyways if you're not used to swimming you're probably going to struggle doing 1x25 and feel like shit. Don't. In about a month or two you should be able to do 100 even 200 yards no sweat. Whether you do it fast, well that's another story. The key to learning how to swim these distances is to learn perfect form and not to swim like a spas trying to imitate Michael Phelps. Take it slow, record your yards, move on.

Here, you can try one of my old workouts from when I first started out:
100 - Swim
100 - Kick
4 x 50 - Freestyle
3 x 50 - Hand Drag Drill / Swim
200 - Streamline
100 - Easy

Kick means that I held on to a board while doing my laps to isolate leg movements, but you can used anything that floats. Swim & Easy is self explanatory. Look up everything else online.

Oh yeah, forgot to mention, when one of the sets are slashed(/) like that it's because you do the first technique or stroke on your first lap and the second one on the lap back. Good for mixing things up and associating drills targeting certain strokes with the actual stroke.

Anyways it's pretty modular so if you wanna change things up and switch things out when you get better it's as easy as adjusting the numbers or changing the strokes. Just remember to always warm up and cool down.

My local pool has swim lanes, 50yrds. I swim for about an hour, I try to go right on the hour because thats adult swim and I swim until the next adult swim comes on.
I can usually do about 4 laps back and forth before taking a break.
I just wish I knew how to swim properly, I imagine the lifeguards make fun of me ;_;

Why are they al pushing their hands out like that

also wtf is up with japan and being ok with degenerate pedo scum

I used to love swimming but the chlorine fucks up my skin so now I only do it in lakes and the sea and shit

I think you underutilize your legs

>Why are they al pushing their hands out like that
Because they do stretching routines prior to actually swimming.

Yeah im swimming in pussy. Rekt

>swimming IN pussy
Manlet.

Shut up midget

Everytime I see a pool I just think about all pee and shit in there from people who don't wash their ass. I don't want that in my mouth.

that's the point of chlorine

I can't swim with any other stroke except breaststroke. Is that adequate? I moved to a new place with swimming pool, my plan is to get good at that (~21 laps nonstop), and maybe learn the other strokes after.

Also, I sink, I absolutely cannot relax in the water, so I have to fight it and it's very exhausting. I swim very fast tho because of lifting and muscles, and since I have no other option but to swim fast, I figure being able to do 21 laps at my pace ought to make me gud. I'm at around 6 unbroken now.

Meters, not laps. We don't know how long your pool is.

It's good to learn other strokes for the sake of variety. Can you tread water? It's good to at least learn basic survival skills.

25 meters. I can tread water but not for long. I get exhausted too quickly.

It's not like I'm unfit or anything, I can run and cycle fast and far, it's just that I'm no good in the water. I'm thinking just to swim, swim, swim until my body learns to become one with the water.

swimming just uses different muscle groups

stick with it and you'll get better!
