See your doctor before fasting if you have any sort of chronic illness (type 1 diabetes, malnourished, underweight, pregnant, breastfeeding)

>2000mg of sodium (preferably Himalayan Pink Salt) max
>4700mg of saltless potassium max (NoSalt/LoSalt are high potassium-low sodium salts available in grocery stores or Amazon and the like)
Mix these in a liter of water and sip it throughout the day. The apple cider vinegar and lemon are optional but recommended for 10+ day fasts.
You can also do this if you feel lightheaded, weak, dizzy, nauseous, etc., on shorter water fasts. Don’t do this while intermittent fasting.

Do you guys change your lifting routines on a longer (>24hrs). I've been doing 16:8 but want to throw in some proper fasts a few days a month. Do you just lift less, lift the same, don't lift and stick to cardio?

Lift the same. Fasting makes you crazy anabolic so as long as you got proper protein in on the last day you ate, you can make the same gains as normal, maybe even more if you’re a newbie.

Nope. You may be slightly less explosive, so don’t be surprised if you have to bring the weight down slightly when fasted. This is temporary if it even happens at all.

Should I cut all caffeine? I think my long water fasts always fail more to caffeine withdrawal than the actual hunger.

Your experience is the same as mine. Any and all drinks with artificial sweetner do this. Black coffee, green tea and snek joos is all I drink now when fasting.

Down to 225lb from 234lb thanks to omad, I've also done my first ever 24 hour fast and the sugar crashes have stopped, I just wanted to know if there are any fasted workouts available, I can do about an hour of fasted cardio but I wanted to know if there is anything else I can do.

Did my first 48 a few days ago. Been drinking the smell jizz. Was on 18:6 before that. Tried to go to a 72 after the 48, but I felt like absolute trash 24 hours in, so I ate and felt alright again. Fever, headaches, weakness. Could have been caffeine/sugar withdrawal for all I know. Over 24 hours fasted now, feeling fine, not even hungry, and hoping to get to the 72 hour mark or further.

So i've dropped from 222 to 199 doing water fasting/omad. I did my first 24hour dry fast today, and my mouth felt so fucking dry around the 24 hour mark. Is this normal?

I also feel like i choose a horrible meal to refeed... I made rigatoni pasta, with home made tomato sauce. Made sure not to use any sugar. I also cooked 2 whole chicken breasts and grated some mozerella ontop of the pasta... I feel like i fucked up.. prior to my dryfast i had a mcdonalds quarter pounder aswell. Fuck my life man. I made sure to not have any soda or fries with it though.

Makes it easier to get back into ketosis. If it's completely carb free, then theoretically you don't even get kicked out of ketosis. Fat doesn't stimulate insulin release.

Bone broth. Anything really. What are your goals? If weight loss, try to eat as keto as possible. Rice and potatoes are complex carbs. For athletes, better than simple carbs in a way that they're absorbed more slowly. But for fasting, that means staying out of ketosis even longer.

Fasting makes me absorb more nutrients if I eat the same food (compared to before fasting).

How do I start fasting? I get it's just not eating but my stomach starts feeling like absolute shite and I get terrible headaches on the 2nd day in every time and cave from how aggravating life in general is when i'm like that. It makes work so much harder.

The first time is really hard, especially if you were not on keto for a long time.

After the first 48 or 72, the next one is a lot easier. I still got a bit of brain fog but that's it.

Weightlifting benefits from a bit of glucose in your muscles but you can have it while being fasted, after a while, if you eat for example 100g carbs and muscles are depleted most of them goes there while you continue burning fat for energy until you actually use those muscles.

10 pounds is about 5 days of fasting if you walk around and are at least a little active.
Don't be deceived by the initial water loss (go by looks, not by scale).

If you can go on after 48 hours, don't break the fast. If you feel like you need food (you don't but I know how it is), then eat a steak or eggs and a greek salad and fast again for 72.
Should be really close if not there by the end of that.

Sorry you said 10 pounds and I even wrote that, but my numbers are for 5 pounds.
You lose about 1lb/day fasting. So 10 days fasting if you're slightly active, more if you take long walks.

I don't feel the need to lose all of my desired weight in one fast, though. I can take it easier than that.
