Favorite post workout carb sources

Most of the time, I have pancakes or french toast and natty maple syrup with my protein shake after lifting. I make a shitload of them once every few weeks and freeze them.

Is it okay to have carbs post workout? Ideal?

Redpill me on carbs.

carbs raise insulin which is good for muscle growth

The semen I have injected into your mother after fucking her also raise insulin which is good for muscle growth.

Bassed and redpilled

I usually go for quickly processed carbs straight after my workout. So I take something easy with me to the gym. E.g. fruit and a protein shake

>fructose post workout
it even hurt to read

I see no problem in eating rice/sweet potatoes as pre-workout meal, and then bananas and whey shake as post-workout meal

fructose doesn't get metabolized the same way as starch or glucose. post workout you'd even be better off eating candy than fruit (bananas being an exception as they contain not only fructose but also starch/glucose)

I eat watermelon

What's a good recipe for healthy pancakes? I love pancakes with maple syrup but they're shit for your health.

Use oats instead of wheat flour

based and redpilled and based

I go for slow burning carbs pre workout such as oatmeal

They arent shit for you if you have them after an intense workout. They're actually good for muscle recovery.

Fructose is a rapidly available carb source, which is exactly what you want when your muscles are begging for glycogen after a hard lift session. So many people here have such retarded nebfag opinions lol.

you make that condescending remark while also making fundamental errors in biochemical vocabulary, muscles dont "starve" for glycogen, they starve for glucose, and only when that glucose is readily available do they store glucose as glycogen, your body is most certainly not storing glucose as inaccessible glycogen during a time of strenuous activity nor immediately thereafter. maybe use less buzzwords and stick to pancake eating nigger retard

You're an idiot who couldn't argue against my point on fructose, so you try to knit pick semantics.

The main reason to consume carbs post-workout is to replenish the muscle glycogen that you burned during your workout. As you train, your main fuel source is muscle glycogen. Glycogen is the storage form of glucose. It is composed of long strings of glucose molecules with numerous branches.

fructose is rapidly available and goes straight to the liver while your muscles keep starving

Am I playing it safe by having a whole meal about an hour post workout?

I'm talking about something like a steak with a sweet potato and veggies.

If I'm already hitting my protein goal for the day is there any point adding a shake and a fast acting carb post workout?

i didnt comment on fructoses digestion because thats not what i took issue with, nice reading comprehension. i took issue with your snarky bullshit when you, moments later, demonstrated your own lack of depth on the subject, and i find your attempt to lecture me on glycogen humorous, also incorrect yet again. your muscles fuel source is not glycogen, its glucose idiot, glycogen is for storage, you do not burn glycogen, you phosphorylate a terminal monomer which becomes glucose for use in glycolysis.
Im not being knit picky, any actual class that isnt "fitness science" bullshit would mark you wrong on an exam for saying muscles use glycogen as fuel, these are clearly defined terms and your fast and loose use of them is indicative of a shallow understanding

i just started working out a couple days ago and ive been working out hard but barely eating throughout the day just a bunch of protien am i wasting my time.

Maltodextrin + whey + creatin

I like to have a baked potato (bake it the previous day and chill it in the fridge, chilled potato has resistant starch), oatmeal, protein pancakes (i like kodiak cakes), or whole grain bread with peanut butter.

I was told you're supposed to have carbs post workout because it puts glycogen back into your muscles. But I'm curious if complex carbs or quick carbs are better, I've been eating complex carbs.

this recipe is shit.

More like the shit. Delicious.
