>be me, lifting for years
>had to work in construction today at my brother's house
>couldn't work for shit, felt like a weak pussy
Why can't I apply my lifting strength to mundane construction shit?
>be me, lifting for years
>had to work in construction today at my brother's house
>couldn't work for shit, felt like a weak pussy
Why can't I apply my lifting strength to mundane construction shit?
I remember that feel, breh
There’s a difference working and exercising
As well as aesthetic and functional strength
Strong biceps and legs mean very little in terms of actual work. I worked at a construction site carrying shit, digging holes, working power tools etc etc for about 3 months and it worked my core and grip strength more than anything.
Now I know why my father and brothers are bearmode without even lifting
There's a big difference between being able to push some weight a set number of times in an air controlled environment compared to doing intensive labor outside in the middle of Summer for 8-12 hours. Construction work fucking sucks and is the only reason I'd be down for open borders. Let the spics do that shit if they want.
I had to build a football field a few years ago down in Louisiana in the middle of July. Killing myself seriously crossed my mind.
I know the feel. I had to work for 5 hours and I wanted to kill myself
Now I have even more respect for my father, who has been working this shit for the past 35 years
I quit a construction job after one day once.
This. I don't mind working hard, but why are construction jobs so fucking shitty.
If this wasn't a blue board, I'd post a bunch of webms showing people getting maimed in construction jobs. Dudes getting sucked into lathes and spinning around as they shed their flesh, painters getting electrocuted while moving scaffolding, woodchipper shit, various chink OH&S fails, a video where some guy is casually murdered by his coworker while standing in a machine press, and this one final destination mode webm of a guy working on some electrics while standing over a small pool, getting zapped, then being unable to move as he drowns in 4 inches of water.
don't even mention the hours...get home at 7pm sometimes after traffic and need to be up by 5am. If you want 8 hrs sleep, you need to be in bed by 9...so that leaves 2 hours to yourself to cook dinner, shower and do whatever else you have to do.
I never understood it myself. It's all hard respectable work but 99% of sites are comprised of either illegals or druggies who couldn't get hired anywhere else. And the crazy shit is depending on where you work the pay is fucking outrageous. I was up in belleview Washington for a few months on a job making $53/hr to throw dirt around.
Maybe deadlifts and squats aren't meme exercises after all.
In my country, the traffic controllers get 130k a year for holding a stop sign.
>mfw memories because of this thread
Fucking kek at you little faggots. I'm a fucking skele and I've had one day off in the past month except for like 5 days where I had to take my little brother on a canoe trip and canoed his fat ass for 60 miles. I would mog you faggots on the jobsite. Also the forearm gains are real
>be me, lifting for years
>everyone always tells me that I look huge
>help my gramps yesterday to mow down bushes with an electrical device thing
>after 30 min my arms feel like pudding and don't stop shaking until 8pm
JUST
I've got low key tourettes syndrome because of my bad memories. Occasionally I remember something bad and say random swears to clear it from my head.
Same reason why flat runners cant do shit at mountaing running.
Different muscles
I knew there would be one eventually. We are all quite impressed let me tell you. Please mong away and make less work for the rest of us you brainlet.
holy shit, are you me?
post the 4 inch water drowning one pls
The workload is intense; did it summers while paying for eng degree. You get used to it after a week. 12 hour days are the worst, especially with no breaks(the illegals fuck up the standards, union jobs seem a lot more /comfy/).
I respect the men in my family a lot more after doing construction and even moreso after doing a factory gig(soul-sucking and labor intensive).
forearm gains are real for sure, but you have no gains anywhere else kek. I wouldn't be mogged, I'd be the boss. work on getting certs brah.
Fucking pussies, construction jobs are hard for about 1 year, then its just going to work, easy as fuck. ive been a carpenter for 10 years now and for me its a very for filling job. its a one of the rare jobs nower days that feels like youre doing something that man was meant to do, its hard mans work and pays well if you've got the character to push through it. i can work 12 hour without a break and fasted and i can earn £320 a day
>Why can't I apply my lifting strength to mundane construction shit?
Gym strength isn't real life strength. That's what you learn as soon as you work a physical job - but most people don't, so they will never know.
If in doubt about this, go to a wrestling school and wrestler someone half your weight. You will learn the hard way.
>tfw cushy construction job
so comfy im home by 2:30pm every day. i dont envy office guys much desu i enjoy this work
>legs mean very little in terms of actual work
I agree on the biceps but this is retarded. If you need to carry something heavy you have to deadlift it off the ground first
Damn, same here. Must be a normal thing then?
For filling - No wonder you picked up a trade..
>I agree on the biceps but this is retarded. If you need to carry something heavy you have to deadlift it off the ground first
Lol, an odd object deadlift is completely different from a Jow Forums deadlift.
I just pinch my skin, that shit's normal
>I'd be down for open borders
Construction is great for endurance but you can end up looking like this retard. You look like a cheap Popeye knock-off.
Because you probably have no work capacity for one, and probably rest a while between exercises. Don't do this. It will increase your stamina, unless you're a full on powerlifter doing close to your 1rm every set or something and absolutely need the rest. Also you probably have a lot of weak links, rather than being weak overall, core and forearms are always the weak spots for people desu. A few years ago I would've said traps too but they seem to be more in fashion now. Calves a bit too, but usually core and forearms are the worst. Do some more unusual lifts like zercher squats, they should help a lot. Nothing beats proper strongman training though, grab some sandbags if you want some equipment for cheap
>Be me, laborer in warehouse
>Paid per lb, double if you hand stack it
>Top earner, strongest ox by wide margin
>100,000 to 200,000 lb stacked daily, 6 days a week
>Baby weights in the weight room
>Dyel af
Turns out the 1000+ rep range doesn't really translate to or from the weight room
No one asked OP for his stats, so what are they? He could've just been DYEL the entire time
Lol, you still, lol, use, lol, your legs
lol LOl
retard
Strength is strength. I think a lot of the difference is just psychological because it’s easy to get pumped up to do a lift but if you had to do that in the hot sun for 8 hours you’d hate it too. The gym while physically demanding isn’t “hard” because you’re motivated by a personal goal to get big, strong, etc., whereas on the job you’re only motivated by the money you’re making which is a pretty weak source of motivation.
The other difference like other people have said is just endurance. Gym goers just aren’t used to carrying a bunch of somewhat heavy things all day.
Think of it as a professional soccer player trying out basketball for the first time. Yeah it’s going to be awkward and take a while to get into the rhythm of it but they still have a huge advantage over the fatty sitting on the couch.
>The gym while physically demanding isn’t “hard”
You've probably got a think brain and a twink body if you've never put enough weight on a bar for sets of absolute grinders
>Top earner, strongest ox by wide margin
>Baby weights in the weight room
Doesn't happen irl, incel.
>American arguments
>Strength is strength
Haha, no. Speed strength, Explosive Strength, Strength endurance, Max strength, all different.
Instead, strength is skill.
>The gym while physically demanding isn’t “hard” because you’re motivated by a personal goal to get big, strong, etc., whereas on the job you’re only motivated by the money you’re making which is a pretty weak source of motivation.
Inande rambling by an idiot who never played any sports, lifted OR worked physically.
Because the functional strength thing is a marketing meme for fucking autistic losers user.
Any weekend warrior or former athlete over the age of 19 who works with their hands or does anything physical can tell you this.
I had no idea that so many of you were actually stupid enough to fall for this shit.
Yeah you can squat 315 in a gym, while wearing a weightbelt and lifting shoes, while it's on an evenly distributed bar and you have a spot
But you can't lift half that in the real world and you're so tired from doing it once that you fucking have to sit down.
I keep harping on about work capacity and strength endurance and having true full body strength while leaving nothing out being far more important for athletics and day to day life, and how it's far more impressive to the normies, but you fucking losers want your easy simple 5x5 lifts in your air conditioned gyms while listening to coked up gearheads scream out random nonsense about vikings and what not.
Whatever.
I agree but fuck that working through breaks shit. I need food and water, I hate the yutzes on job sites who act like having to eat, shit and take a sec is the worst thing ever.
depends on how much money you wanna make boyo, with the correct diet, water and well timed caffine intake you dont need breaks.
Cause you got the dumb dumb.
I’m just saying if working out sucked more than construction work nobody would do it.
Strength is just the raw sum of muscle fiber in your body. Idk what kind of fairy tale world you love in where there are different kinds of strength.
Please explain what exactly in my post was wrong. It sounds like you have never considered that the difference between something being hard or easy is mostly psychological.
you are just weak.
I lift and got no problem when working with the construction workers. In fact, I could even work harder and heavier than all of them.
Do you work independent or for a company? Starting to think a uni degree might not be for me.
You're an imbecile.
I work in a warehouse and chiller 8-10 hours a day
I lift heavy stuff up and slam it down. Big trays if potatoes, moving massive cages of wine around, stacking tins on top of tins on top of tins. I also manage to get to the gym 3 days a week.
My forearms are fucking huge now and I get real close to anything that's on the ground and deadlift it. Been doing this for a couple years now so my back is quite strong too.
I still look like a lanklet though. manual labour kills gains sadly. You will have incredible functional strength though if you keep at it.
Haha thanks.
For the same reason a construction guy can't do your workout, his body isn't adapted to it.
I am I've been testing my "functional strength" against construction workers many times.
I can shovel stones and push the wheelbarrow just as good as the veteran workers.
The only thing that I cannot beat them was when I had to carry stones like pic related to the mountain top. But it was because Im not used to handle balancing like that. And carrying stones on the rocky hill (there was no road) was extremely tough.
Other than that, I have no problem doing construction job.
Dont support someone coming here to scab my job because you are too pussy to work with your hands
I SHARE THE BOARD WITH FUCKING CONSTRUCTION WORKERS
FUCK OFF
i spent all my years of puberty doing manual labor. from 12 to 23 i was swinging pick axes and digging ditches. Greatest thing for a boy/young man to do.
>Jow Forums is filled with a bunch of soft gymcel pussies that can’t even handle a single day of physical work
Shocking.
if you can't compete with spics on the job market, you're completely worthless anyway
Honestly, you must have shit lifts. Squats, deads, power cleans, presses have really good carry over to physical work. Probably a troll whatever
start a thread on gif and link it here pls
America belongs to Amerindians the same as europe belongs to europeans.
Get over it.
I've moved up the ladder but I still take laborer jobs when they are convenient and, I still don't care to have spics on my crew. Niggers are bad enough. "Hurr durr you cant compete" says every white collar worker until they realize they are just as easily replaced. Tech guys are replaced by poos with HB1 visas etc.
This is my schedule now, and it fucking sucks, especially if you wanna get fit man. That's why I'm trying to switch from carpentry to HVAC, mostly for better hours.
Its unironically a different kind of strength. Think of physical labor as the bastard child of cardio and weight lifting
Not all lifting is equal. If you are just doing bro-shit going for "aesthetics" and working your mirror muscles like biceps and pecs, then that's going to have minimal carryover to functional strength like doing construction. Do your deadlifts, squats, farmers walks, etc boyos.
Last week I was doing a fuckton of manual labor in the yard cleaning up after construction, shoveling mountains of dirt, transporting heavy buckets and wheelbarrows, etc over a full day. I was fucking exhausted by the time I was done and I got to the point where my hands were twitching and could barely grip anything despite rest, but it's not something I could've done had I not been strong already.
Because working out lasts an hour or two. Construction work is 8 hours solid and usually a lot longer.
Absolute state of wagecucks
Lmao
>Tech guys are replaced by poos with HB1 visas etc.
that's an urban legend. in practice they produce code that's so buggy and completely unmaintainable that it takes 10 times more manpower to fix and maintain the unimaginable clusterfuck they always leave in their wake
So you'd let DUI drivers, child molesters and rapists into your country because you are to weak to work construction.
Fuck you and kys
Eat as you work you soft bitch.
>Do your deadlifts, squats, farmers walks, etc boyos.
Yeah, none of the lifts you just posted would help him that much on a construction job.
Espescially babbys first powerlifting bullshit that's pushed hard around here.
You have to have strength endurance more then peak strength to do that. And to be honest, people around here are too concerned with toy strength.
>be me
>work in construction for 14years
>stronger than guys who lift for several years
feels good
>Strength is just the raw sum of muscle fiber in your body
Nigger are u bleck?
let me guess, you fell for the cardio kills gains meme
you probably fell for the compounds are sufficient to train you core meme. do some plank variations, ab wheel, woodchoppers, dragon flags, etc. for a few weeks, and you'll actually be able to efficiently use your strength
because strength is fairly movement specific, and construction is more endurance than absolute strength
Yes and spics are lazy, cant communicate, and unsafe. Turns out anyone can compete when they are willing to work for poverty wages.
Because in gym you lift very heavy stuff for a short time and at work you lift sorta heavy stuff for a long time.
You only have to work poverty wages because the spics are there to begin with.
I doesn't matter how cheap they are if they are unable to do the job. I could hire an illiterate guy from Cambodia to fix a security hole in the system for a dollar a month, but I won't be saving money this way
damn you, you found me out
If that was true they wouldn't all be either dead or alchies living on our gibs. America belongs who can take it.
And yet, that's exactly what's going on in the blue collar environment and in tech industries.
Entire swaths of the service industry were shipped overseas to save big bucks.
The amount of fucking headaches and fuck ups that caused ground litterally everything to a stand still in many areas and ruined the profits of many industries.
Many people outright REFUSED to work with certain companies or stay on the line unless they were talking to americans
Mexican slave workers and indian/eastern euro/chinese codemonkey slaves are a thing user.
Many companies make massive hurdles for american workers by saying they need years of fucking experience and just start listing random as fuck systems languages and other such nonsense that they have to be fluent in and an expert at to even get considered.
Why?
So they can bring in those code monkeys to do the job for basically nothing and have their own experinced workers train them.
because you have shit core and grip strength.
>DUI drivers, child molesters and rapists
Southerners are already here
kek
The reciprocating motion has a lot to do with that. You'd probably be fine if you used a machete.
I work for myself yeah, i get paid however much i do, imo the best trade is being an electrician, they are the highest paid, I like my job tho ive just got to work hard which i dont mind. im so glad i didn't get a degree, i know for sure that i would have pissed it all up the wall.
are you a a complete sperg autist user?
Lifting helps me a shit ton in construction kind jobs
deadlifts are the most useful since you usually have to carry heavy shit
Why do I feel weak all the time? Ever since I woke up one day last week, I can't lift anymore, I'm just very weak.
Labor uses slow twitch fibers how they were msde to be used. You are not used to the constant effort so the fatigue is too great. It really doesnt make you all that much stronger. It just helps you do whatever work your doing better. Tons of fat people work construction. Many are weak as shit in terms of power
I grew up on a farm doing this stuff. Before lifting I was super skinny. Could squat like 100 pounds, bench about the same, but ridiculous grip and core for my size. Sometimes I’d wrestle around with this guy from the city I lived with who lifted and it was embarrassing how easy it was to beat him. I was not a tough guy growing up either, hardly ever won a fight in school. Manual labor strength is a real thing. When you lift everything is made to accommodate you with nice handles and even loads. I really thing you’ll get way stronger being a furniture mover, wood splitter, landscaper, etc.
With that being said there’s some carryover from weightlifting. Your ability to pick up heavy things improves. But that’s really just one aspect of strength IMO.
AIDS
I kinda agree, but
>for filling
> hypertrophy =/= strength
That's what you get for fucking around with meme excercises
same. the injury rate and humidity are just not worth the trouble
>one day off in the past month
thr absolute state of wagies
it's not wageslaving if you enjoy it
definitely wageslaving if you don't
NEETdom is not better if you have no purpose or drive
>he enjoys having no freetime
this is honestly just sad
You’re probably doing nothing but pretty boy exercises like a faggot.
>for time to be free, it must be occupied by anime and jacking off to hentai
no
Free time is whatever a person decides it is
if they decide that they want to make more money, so be it
there's always the possibility that he's sacrificing time now to have it later, by saving enough money to get assets and passive income to retire early with
Understand, my son, that some people plan ahead with their lives, instead of just living in the moment
