>Arctic Monkeys
Is this an disparaging racial epithet for Eskimos and/or Canadians?

bad band bad songs

Thanks random friendly user ! will probably be the only nice response this thread will get but i apreciate you

by the file name you seem to be a fellow brazillian/speaks portuguese... why do you think that user? i guess there are better bands out there but that doesn't mean they are bad. just that they aren't the best... still, thanks !

My ex lost her virginity while listening to arctic monkeys so I have a bias against them. But that's pretty egotistical and I haven't seen her for over a year I think so I should probably try to get past that

i've listened to all their albums and all their songs sound exactly the same

>Has an ID.
wowie op if i didnt fucking like arctic monkeys b/c shit taste then i would just fucking sage but whatever they're alright

Oh damn user, that sounds kinda bad... but you should atleast give it a try, it's allways nice to discover new things

well that is true, not all songs are unique per-say, but it's still somewhat nice ain't it ? anyway , thanks for the opinion

The Strokes are better

>normie band
This is stupid. So you don't listen to things or like things if someone says they're "normie"? You know what, you're a fucking normie. This is the in-group, judgy bullshit that normies do. You're no better than they are.

I do like that hipstery kind of music so I think I will try to listen to them and change my negative feelings I'm holding onto.
I think I'll end up feeling this way. The strokes are very good

did i not say a few words after that, that i liked them anyway ? i'm not judging the band because some people told me they're a normie band, i'm just saying what others have told me...

i've never heard about them, i'll check it out! thanks user

Dancing shoes is okay if I remember right.
I wouldn't go out of my way to listen to them.

Tranquility base Hotel & Casino is a good song of theirs. Theyre okay

yeah, these songs are really good, and it's nice seeing r9k being normal for once and not hate on things because normies also listen to them

Don't get me wrong. I don't think they're good. Just tolerable.
It's like teen music.

arguably one of the most important bands of the century.
love em and can't wait to see them live soon.

brainlet opinion.
AM have a more diverse music palette and their best songs aren't at all similar to each other like the strokes' are.
and i love the strokes.

>Most important
Why do you people say this? It just makes you look like a dumb dumb.

i know, they aren't a band that you can listen to 24/7 like Queen and David Bowie (i know he's not a band, but his songs are amazing), they're just nice to listen to from time to time, and i do understand it gets kinda repetitive after the 5th song, but they're nice to come by while you shuffle your playlist.

your post just outed you as one.
if your single digit IQ brain can't figure out what was meant by that, there's no hope for you.

What's so important about Arctic Monkeys? How did they change music?

culturally relevant and significant to the zeitgeist of the mid-late 2000's. especially in their country.
cornerstone itself is one of the greatest achievements by a songwriter in history.

woah, not very nice ... yes, Artic Monkeys has been very influential, but i wouldn't say the most influential of all of the century. not discrediting them, just not overrating them.

You over sell way too much. I can't take you seriously.
Did you get kicked outta mu?

Faggot nu-rock
Listen to Wolf (UK)
Or Tool

>brainlet can't understand

not sure why i tried.

never said they were influential, i said important.
influential means nothing anymore, how many new good bands do you know of in the last 5 years? and how does older bands being "influential" matter in that aspect?
you think because little kevin listened to van halen when he was a kid that that somehow means van halen isn't shit??

>tool

OH NO NO NO-

Tool is a good band

All you did was state something incredibly broad with no proof then you over sold them again.
I have reason to believe what you're saying or take you seriously.
Honestly you sound underage. I would guess a 16 year old that takes his music very seriously maybe you play a few songs on your guitar.

important to what exactly ? i thought you were talking about how important they were to modern music, meaning the influenced the today's style of songwritting... i could be wrong tho

Nah man influential doesn't mean a thing.
AM is the best bad since the Beatles even they're not as important.
Best song writers in the biz

that doesn't explain much but yes, they are really good user ! still doesn't answer the question as in they're important to what

>brainlet can't piece together things without intensively holding his hand and explaining it to him

go sperg about something else.

important as in they captured the sentiment of the youth and feelings of a country over their first two albums in a way that very few bands ever did. even when their songwriting got less specific about england and the like, they were still writing great songs. you don't write songs like alex did as a 19 year old without being a prodigious talent.

>hurr here's a strawman cause i am mad

kys you're is self Steve

I like them. There last album was different, but after a few listens, I liked it.

Oasis was better.
If you want something more comparable the Strokes are better as are the Killers. Arctic Monkeys aren't awful though. A few nice songs.
Oasis will always have a special place in my heart.

This is the only semi point you made. It's better than the last two at least not as broad.
I don't think you understand the term important or influential.

oh, i got you user ! that's so nice... having the capability of writing a whole country's youth's feelings is a very hard thing to do, mad props to them !

not nice...

good to hear user! i'd love it if you shared some more bands so we can listen to them!

i'd never heard of Oasis or The Killers, i will check them out. thanks user !

dang dude i wish there was a board to talk about music!!! oh wait there is.
use it faggot.

You've probably heard an Oasis song on the radio. They were overplayed a lot. Killers too for a time.

Nope the most important band of the last 20 years is Neutral Milk Hotel.

but i want to get r9k's opinion on the band user

i'm not very good with memory, but i will check them out and see if i have... yep, i have ! they aren't half bad. thanks user !

can't tell if that's a joke or not, but the name sounds amazing !

It isn't a joke. I wouldn't say they're the most important band of the century. But they're more important and influential than Arctic Monkeys.
In The Aeoroplane Over The Sea is an amazing album. If say it's my favourite. It's worth a listen.

i'll check'em out as soon as i can user ! thanks

In the Aeroplane is a FANTASTIC album. There's a reason it's a meme and so many hipsters like it. It's incredibly likable.

I like them a lot even tho it's apparently white girl rock

I've only listened to a few songs, but I know my girlfriend likes them

Like them

Especially "are you mine

Music is purely subjective anyway but I'll give your band a shot

Their new album is fucking trash

>Neutral Milk Hotel
Can you spell "F-A-G-G-O-T"?

Attached: xduoezqnkq211.jpg (808x768, 84K)

Can you spell R U D E?

"I just wanted to be one of The Strokes"

Literally the first lyric of the first song on their newest album

They're a band for people who mainly listen to playlists, because typically their music is only tolerable in small dosses. Their first two albums are fine, but the rest are completely bland due to how generic they are.
It's fine to like them, but honestly anyone who considers them one of their favorite bands is unlikely to be an avid music fan and more-so a casual normie because the stereotype is usually true. There is much better Indie/Alt-rock out there.

Never heard of them
Currently listening to youtube.com/watch?v=6DaL-Z4dwzI

t. actual normie

cont. I'm not just saying that the stereotype is true out of my ass either. In the often times I've talked to normies about music because of my interest in it, arctic monkeys is normally an inevitable subject brought up by them when talking about alt-rock.

The albums of theirs Ive listened to, Ive enjoyed.

>Favourite Worst Nightmare
Has a great energy and verve to it. Always thought it would feel right at home in a Guy Ritchie film like Snatch or something like that, albeit one with a slight romantic bent.

>AM
Ive listened to this one more times than i care to say. Came at a time in my life when I was really lovesick and crushing hard on a girl that was insanely out of my league (Happy birthday, Shayla! Hope things are going well with the kid!). Fun times.

>Tranquility Base
Four Out Of Five and the title track are the best songs on it, but I dig the vibe that the album holds throughout. Doesnt really have much memorable content beyond that, but its bretty okay all the same.
