PROS -in cosy English countryside -great atmosphere, everyone knows eachother -no need for lockers or keycards, everyone trusts everybody else -can even take drinks or whatever if you have no change, they trust you to pay next time -no aggro whatsoever -get free help from PTs anytime -built out of old factory space so has giant truck-loading door open for fresh air when it's hot -plenty of machines (if that's your thing) besides the free weights -I'll repeat - great friendly atmosphere -plays metal when there are no girls or boomers around -plays classic boomer rock when the boomers are around
CONS -shuts at 8pm weekdays, closes at noon on Saturday for the whole weekend -fairly pricy for a rural gym at 30 bongbucks a month -no separate cardio area so during group sessions you have to manoeuvre around them, can be awkward -only one, rather grotty shower -not really within walking distance (not a problem for me anyway) -shut on bank holidays which I always fucking forget -only two squat racks and one bench so sometimes you're left waiting -it's the countryside. Sometimes fields smell like shit and it wafts in if you're unlucky -only one cable machine, the only machine I use. It's busy a lot. -plays whatever zoomer shite is on the radio if cardiobunnies are there
I rate mine 8.5/10. The only thing that really bothers me is the opening hours. You're a gym, you should be open weekends. I know PTs have a life and need to unwind like the rest of us but there are 5 of you, surely you can go out drinking on rotation? The shit smell happens rarely but doesn't bother me anymore anyway. You end up sort liking it after a while when you live out in the sticks.
Do home gym peeps have any special equipment or routines for potentially dangerous PRs? I wouldn't want to risk it with bench

no you either lift it or guillotine it

PROS -Never gets too busy, generally piece of equipment is always available -Lots of cool people to talk to if you become a regular -Mostly men with some thots -Friendly staff who don't care about noise -Plenty of cardio equipment -Plenty of barbells -Not too many fuckboys or cookie cutters -No worries about getting something stolen -Gym kept clean -5 DL platforms -2 racks and 4 racks without safeties -4 Cable towers -Can pretty much do what you want and fuck around if you're a regular
CONS -$50 a month -Dumbbells only go up to 100 lbs -Only two flat benches -A fight for the good barbells -Always a search looking for clips -Usually shitty music -Closes at 11 on weekdays and 8 on weekends (Would prefer 24/7) -On the smaller side -Has machines but a lot of the time only one of each -Annoyingly loud classes -Lack of attractive women -Mostly men with some thots

based, what county lad? similar set up at mine

Pros:
>Relatively inexpensive for my city @45/mo >Large range of equipment, from machines to kettlebells to bumper plates and a regulation boxing ring >well laid out, power racks and multipurpose rooms are never cramped >ridiculously few people go when I do, like 5-6 max >gym staff are all bros or gymrat milfs who love me
Cons:
>Whenever I'm forced to go in the evening for some reason it's *swarmed* with fucking people >Tons of eastern european oldbois clogging up racks with bullshit old man exercises >lots of instagram thots taking pictures and scowling at pretty much everyone >very few people actually move big weight, and get weird whenever someone actually lifts

>$50 a month Christ just go to planet fitness, $10 a month 24/7 jesus

This was my gym while i was at uni, it was literally paradise.
Pros: -£20 a month with student discount. -Open 24/7, no staff on bank holidays but still open. -3 floors, weights on ground and first, machines on second and cardio/martial arts on third. -4 squat racks, oly lifting area and pretty much any machines you could think of including meme ones. -Wide open plan with huge windows so there was a constant breeze. -Everyone was friendly, PT's weren't overbearing and just helpful. -Very safe, cameras everywhere. -Quiet most days unless 6pm week days which is standard. -Sauna/steam room and great showers.
Cons: -15 minute walk which really isn't that bad.
Jose Myers
PROS >24 hour access >tons of racks, platforms and benches >caters to serious lifters, limited machines and cardio equipment >high quality power bars, weightlifting bars, deadlift bars and speciality bars >belt squat, and reverse hyper machines >calibrated plates, bumper and powerlifting discs present >competition racks >sweet interior, molded ceilings and brick walls >multiple private restrooms >owner is in frequently and trains there, nice guy >employees are all nice people >nobody gives a fuck if you slam your weights because everyone does it >majority of people there are strong, sociable and pleasant to be around
CONS >downtown so limited parking >sometimes 4 power cages, 5 comp benches, 2 competition racks, 4 deadlift platforms, 4 weightlifting platforms, 4 other squat racks and all the 45's present aren't enough for all the people there
Brody Peterson
Pic related.
Pros: >Free(with tuition) >Open all day >More than enough space >Dozens of racks and machines with tons of redundancies to accommodate just how many people use it >10s EVERYWHERE >I cannot stress the quality of the girls here, it's absurd >Lots of staff if you have a problem >Huge indoor lap pool
Cons >Always very crowded >On campus, and I live off campus(but can use my apartment's gym if needed) >Even at 6'4 210 I still get mogged on the daily >It's Florida state, so there is always someone bigger than you waiting to use your rack >My ex works the front desk(it's okay though bc I make quadruple what she does)
Pros >has the basics. Squat rack, deadlift platform, benches (flat and incline). >is at work >is free >work is a research university full of nerds so the gym is mostly empty
cons >only has the basics but... >too many meme machines. Like 4 different versions of a lat pulldown. 4 of those compound machines that warp into 30 different configurations for 30 different useless exercises. >People who show up are mostly fugly as shit. Guys are emaciated and emasculated. Women look like they walked out of racist propaganda posters. >half the time, half the gym is closed off for classes. And I'm talking classes that are so memey they make wii u look like the olympics. Like the other day there were 12 grown ass 'people' doing toe touches and, I shit you not, weight shakes (like those fapping weight shake commercials) without weights to the tune of the 8mile soundtrack on repeat. I discovered that these classes are a)paid b)taught by anyone who wants to teach a class
Overall, it's a 6/10. 4/10 if it wasn't free.
Aiden Butler
College Gym >Pros Filled with Bros and thots Large and spacious Nice indoor track Decent Equipment
>Cons Filled with Bros and Thots Always too busy and not enough equipment
Joshua Ortiz
I have a squat rack with metal guards on the sides. So that covers bench press and squats for safety.
Ayden Cooper
Home gym here
PROS >Open 24/7 >Workout alone > No shit music >Don't need to interact with any one >Don't need to wait for anything > Got AC and a laptop >Got all the weights I need >Can spend 5 hours there if I want
CONS >Limited equipment, I have enough to do all the compound lifts, but no machines >Can lose track of time and waste too much time >No one to spot me or provide help (I have safety guards for everything so that's not an issue)
I'd rate it 9/10 desu. I will never go back to a public gym.
Pros >Open 24 hours >Super cheap, $100 for over a year >Decent equipment >Friendly vibe, but not so friendly that anyone tries to start random conversations
Cons >Pretty small, only 2 squat racks >Popular with highschoolers that like to hang in packs and hog stuff for 40 minutes at a time >Got busted for selling meth and firearms on the side a while ago
Christian Sanchez
Pros >Almost always empty >Free weights area is at a couple meters below ground and is a very tall all around concrete built room with Windows so keeps very cool throughout the year >Cheapest in the neighborhood at $17 usd (chekc value of argie peso while reading this, it may have flopped even more) >A good array of plates in both kgs and lbs >Great ambience overall, feels like graveyard hours run almost all day except from 5pm - 8pm when everybody goes to the gym at once
Cons:
>Cable machines are all in lbs, also regular dumbells. It does have russian dumbells rated at kgs >Sundays there's no gym because no trainers come that day. Tennis and paddle courts are open tho.
Noah Cruz
Pros >i am the dj of the place >everyone likes metal like me >everyone likes gay music like me >guys scream reee when a weight falls >scream between sets >old timers get the gym keys so we can stay late
Cons: >Barbells are useless >no grip >shitty whip >they all weight 20lbs >bench is useless >tfw i want to work out in home gym with gym bros
Alexander Lewis

Bentley Hughes
pros: it's at my uni so it's really accessible to me good locker room free condoms in locker room cons: always crowded unless its at 7am or 10PM Bench and squat rack always taken by some guy lifting 25s. One day I was squatting 2 plates(only because I sprained my back squatting 285 so I'm going low) and this guy comes to my rack and asks if he can use the 25lb plate. I gave him a disgusted look for even thinking that I would use anything lower than a 35. Always some DYELs on the bench benching the bar or adding 10lbs on each side. They always come in groups and stay there for an entire hour. Like I would come in and they're there. I leave and they're still there. I only bench, squat and do pull ups. The pull up section is almost empty(because DYELs and fatties can't do them) but there's fuken useless towels EVERYWHERE

Logan Reyes
