also, when you put the barbell on the floor at each rep - how long do you pause to pick it back up?

compound lift go heavy weight low rep like 6 or 8 max

how many sets tho

i couldn't youtube up anything

i enjoy doing timed singles
for example 10 singles with 1 minute rest between at 85%
good training for off the floor
follow it up with some barbell rows and RDLs and youre set

wtf like how? i started at lmao 1pl8 4month ago and am at 85kg now for 3x6

3x5 or 5x5?

touch and go my dude

eat lol

I do 3x5, 3x3, 2x2, and 1

Increase from 70% to 85%

i just ate like a bear and had proper form plus a pretty athletic background

I was getting insane progress doing 5x5 once a week in Wendler's Building the Monolith routine.
I went from 350 for 5x5 to 440 in two months, but I also slipped a disc in my back and haven't been able to deadlift in months

Depends on the day and everything else involved.

no more than 3, deadlift for hypertrophy is pretty much uselss anway, so might as well go for 5/3/1 with heavy weight

Is it really ok if my deadlift setup makes my back as horizontal as the guy in this photo? Always worried I'm too horizontal.

It's not your setup that does that, it's your proportions. Everybody's deadlift starting position is going to look different based on how long their femurs, torso, and arms are.

>I also slipped a disc in my back and haven't been able to deadlift in months

Another victim of that dumbass exercise.

THERE IS NO REASON TO EVER DEADLIFT

The sweet spot for dead’s seems to be 2-3 reps 5-10 sets

245
3*5
I thought I would faint

The most common scheme is 1x5 per deadlift session if you're on a basic alternating day linear progression. When it gets heavy enough, add a warm-up set, when it keeps getting heavier, add more warm-up sets and make the 1x5 your topset

Good catch. Someone post the super official looking one

Who says this

Depends on how strong you are.
If you can deadlift over 500lbs, 1x1 is enough.
Or you can use 5x5 with 85% if your 1 rep max.
It depends on how strong you are/your goals.

If your new I would suggest deadlifting 2x per week with reps of 1x5+ (Amrap). You also have to warmup, Incase you didn’t know that.

Yeah your fine lol.
Just don’t max out all the time.
Keep your chest up and “engage” the lats. Squeeze your armpits, rotate your elbows toward your body

*with progressive overload
Don’t aim to do more than 5, but if you can then do it

I work up to a heavy 1x5. I'll follow that with a heavier set in the 1-3 rep range after that if the 1x5 felt clean. I try not to overdo it wiith DLs by incorporating too much volume

What I do to make up for the lack of weekly volume is a 3x8 of RDLs later in the week.

not but some people just have the torso/leg/arm length that makes deadlifting easy. I'm one of them. on the flip side, I'm garbage at squatting so I do barbell hack squats instead which is basically a behind-the-back diddly.

also OP I do 3x5. touch and go between reps.

Nice thank you
