What happens if I go intermediate early

So uhm
What if I were to just
Switch to 5 3 1 a little early... not too early, but my press is stalling and if I have to eat more I am gonna fucking kill myself

So program intermediate for the press and keep novice going on everything else

nothing bad will happen, even the base progression rate of 5/3/1 is completely unrealistic for anyone but a rank novice so it's not like you will be wasting time or something or not progressing as fast as you could be

60lbs on your OHP is not happening in a year unless you've never seen or heard of a barbell before anyway, just do 5/3/1 but do a version with more volume for pressing

What is a realistic progression for 5/3/1

Seconding this. Don't just do the base program and skip on the assistance work. Incorporate FSL on the get go.

your rate of progression depends on many things, the absolute least important most irrelevant factor being how quickly the routine calls for progression to occur (i.e a program like TM that calls for adding 5lbs a week, and a program that calls for testing maxes every 3 months - that doesn't necessarily mean that TM will give you faster progress overall)

how fast you progress on any program depends on your genetics for response to training, where you are relative to your career peak, your diet, life stress, etc.

What is fsl
Ok then give me a better program
And make it a powerbuilding program pls

What if I want to make slow and steady linear progress for the next three years

How slow does it have to be

progress is never linear other than your first few months of lifting so get that idea out of your head

don't focus myopically on weight on the bar all the time, do plenty of volume in the 70-80% 1rm range, do your hypertrophy work, technical proficiency in the lifts will come in time and constantly grinding low volume high % 1rm is bullshit and a waste of time that will have you spinning your wheels or getting injured
