The other 80% thinks with images, sensing, feeling and experiencing. Just think about that for a second, this means when they have to explain something to themselves or others they will think in images. They have a hard time putting those images into words and can only do so if they talk out loud. This isn't a very good way to communicate or grasp more difficult things. Even worse is if they mainly think by feeling, they will just imagine what feelings boil up and act towards what they feel, there is no logic in it it's pure emotion. The same goes for experiencing, they will just act (reanact) what they saw or experienced before making them unadaptable and not able to act in line with their own morals or logic. That's why they call them NPC's, they think but they dont really think. They act on emotions and past experiences, they dont evolve unless they see someone else do something different. And in situations they have to think for themselves they think it in images and can't even fucking explain it thoroughly to themselves.

Interesting that this meme has come around as it's on the same lines as something i've been thinking about for a while.

I wasn't sure exactly how to describe it, at first I wanted to say that a large amount of people (couldn't say how many) lacked self awareness, but i wasn't happy with the term.

Regardless of how you want to phrase it, a huge amount of people seem to act without thinking almost all the time, like base animals.
I know this sounds elitist and fedora posters are justified in their replies, but those aren't arguments.

Animals do things, and can learn, but don't reflect on why they're doing things nor can they easily break out of a routine they're in without some external interference.

I used to think everyone had an internal monologue, but apparently, that's not the case. Its made me a little less inhibited because now I realize most people aren't having the thoughts I thought they did.

This is exactly the NPC's problem. They have a hard time to understand more difficult things because they can't even explain simple stuff to themselves in words, they will have to type it out or talk about it.

But I believe you can develop it to some extent. Since knowing the NPC meme, and actually reading up on it, I realised I almost never used sensing or feeling as a way of thinking. I believe feeling has no fucking use but sensing is a great tool for a cook like me. When creating dishes I now try to envision how other people will sense my dishes and after a few days it became alot easier to think in sensing.

Feeling is your ape savannah instincts. I default to listening to my feelings for dealing with girls, in physical conflict situations (hasn't happened in years but listening to the monkey side was useful in highschool) and as you said, for "enjoyment" elements of life (eating, playing, reading).

Meditate at first and just let your actual thoughts "slide" away. Don't focus on pushing them away, just be aware of them but don't put any more "thought" into them.

The feelings are the background hum "behind" the thoughts. They influence your thoughts even if you're not aware of them. Most of the time I don't have any, but next time you're angry/horny/happy try the letting thoughts slip and focus on the "background", so to speak.

I don't have the prerequisite education to describe this properly but hopefully you get the gist.

No they dont. If you meant that they do experience things by "inner voice", they you're right. But they experience and think in another way than non-NPC's. Like I said it's imaging, experiencing, sensing, feeling and inner speech. But most people dont, or rarely, hear their actual voice when thinking. It just really depends on how your brain is wired.

Gonna fall for the meme a bit. NPC's meaning an individual who lives in automatic, doesn't question trends or social norms, can wagecuck his whole live without asking a question and marry and have kids just because he thinks he should. They don't improve themselves, fall for every pharma and doctor jew trickery and have low levels of emotional intelligence, also have generic hobbies like netflix or videogames, not to say there's something wrong with those but to have only that as your main forms of entretainment is sad.
I study because I have some sort of goal in mind, aside from money. I read and try to learn new skills, not to say that's impresive, but I notice most "normies" are too coward or hedonistic to pursuit any degree of improvment
Now, the world doesn't divide into NPC's and those who are not, because we live in automatic to a degree, but I would call most normies NPC's. Some normies will still be smart and have something valuable to give to humanity, I don't think is rare to want that, but most people forget about the meaningfull things as they grow up and become lame adults

Also believing a study in which pure self-report is given, an ambiguous concept of inner monologue, and ignoring the adverse data collection effects is just stupid.

You're the first person I've come across that has said they don't think in words. I read about this "NPC" stuff the other day and since then I've been asking my coworkers and friends if they have an inner dialogue or not. Granted I have a very small and homogeneous sample size, mostly college educated white or Asian, and I've probably asked around 10 people. My thinking is that someone with an inner dialogue is more likely to pursue a college education than someone without, so there's a good chance that I have sample bias. However the study that is being used to push all this NPC stuff had a very small and homogeneous sample too, it was 20 people from an "urban" area. The prevalence of people who operate without an inner dialogue is disturbing, but I seriously doubt that it's 80% of the population.

I swear this whole "internal monologue/voice" shit is a fucking troll. I refuse to believe there are human beings who don't talk in their head like they're some fucking animal
