Is it possible to maintain (maybe even add muscle) on 1k calories a day, High protein

Hey,

I'm currently 95 kg (down from 140 kg from the beginning of the year) and I want to be 75k by years end so I can begin the new year on a slight bulk and putting mass on.

Title basically explains it. I have stunted hard in my weight loss and want to become more aggressive. If I eat high protein at 1k calories a day will I loose the muscle mass I have already gained (this will go on until the end of December), Or should I just stick to eating at around 1800 calories?

Advice pls guys thanks. Also, I run PPL, with PUSH,PULL,LEGS,PUSH,PULL,BREAK,LEGS.

Yes you will lose muscle. Your body isn't made to adequately lose fat using your method.

Would it be very significant though? I just used a calc and it said ill be 75kg by December 10 if I use this method. Then I have a whole year to add mass. Also would it be best to do this? These love handles are doing my head in.

I did RFL once, which makes you eat around 800-1200kcals of protein and very little else. In my experience I didn't lose too much muscle mass, but I only did it for around 6 weeks. The strength loss was very mild in during the first 4 weeks, but for the last week or two I started losing a lot of strength. At that point I was already at visible abs, though, so maybe it was just my bodyfat getting low.

RFL is probably the only sane way to do this, because there are a lot of small details that are vitally important on a diet like this if you don't want to end up in a hospital.

I'm not worried about ending up in hospital. I have water fasted for 30 days, and have done really low calorie diets before. If I feel i'm starting to get really bad I got doctors (free healthcare FTW) and usually have a re-feed week. This is probably the least extreme extreme diet I have gone on. I'm just sick of still looking fat even after I've lost all this weight. Once I get it off I feel like I can focus solely on bulking and putting on good mass.

I'd do RFL anyway, it's basically what you're asking for, i.e. how to keep as much muscle as possible while losing fat on around 1000kcals. And yes, you can keep a pretty good amount of your muscle mass while doing it.

Yea I will do that, ty for the help

yes, if you have plenty of fat to make up the calories and you are getting sufficient protein then the answer is yes, you can.

What you are experiencing is metabolic adaptation. And eating at 1k cals will prod your metabolism to adapt to this intake as well.

You may see results initially but after adaptation you'll find you feel like shit, and then eating at 1500cals will lead you to a surplus of 500cals.

If you manage your insulin and leptin levels via keto and fasting you can fix your metabolic situation.

The second part of your statement can't be true. I'm a pretty big guy, and I work labour + gym 6 days a week. I don't see how a surplus of over 500 cals on top of 1k cals could possibly make me gain weight. The physics does not make sense. Also, I have gone on big crash diets before and kept the weight off. Also, would my metabolism not "adapt" to my new diet after RFL, as long as i stay strict and don't binge after doing RFL.

(You)

You can control your body's intake, but it's much more difficult to control your body's output. I've read studies and seen this personally. You will start to feel sluggish, then tired all the time, this drops your calories out. This is why you are already adapting to whatever calories in you are intake good now. I personally beat this by running an eca stack but it's only temporary as you can't run it forever.

If it works for you then by all means go for it. Its clearly unpopular knowledge. Im just saying that if you don't see the results then maybe your issue can be addressed via hormonal targeting rather than deficit targeting.

Studies you may find interesting is the Minnesota starvation experiment representing CICO and the study of Angus Barbieri.

The reason why the adaptation occurs is because your body is losing its fat stores. The re-adaptation therefore would only take place after the weight is regained. Search "metabolic adaptation biggest loser".

>1k calories
no
the lower your calories the lower your nitrogen balance will be
doesn't matter how much protein you're eating, even if 100% of your diet is protein you will still lose muscle.

Just finished a 2 week RFL PSMF since I started at cat 1
Fuck it was hard, I didn't even get enough protein in nearly every day. Started at 159lbs ~14%, now at 150-154lbs at 11-12% with visible abs. Didn't lose any strength. In fact, my bench and squat went up. Although to be fair, I'm getting back into it from a 3 month hiatus from lifting

Would highly recommend it with an EC stack. Just remember that it's 110% worth it whenever you're feeling like quitting

>destroy metabolism
>want to gain weight
retarded?

Warning: it can be very significant. I lost almost all of my muscle by doing this, went from 2.5 plate squat, 2 plate bench, 1 plate ohp 3.5 plate deadlift to untrained beginner weights.

Bullshit.

>"Untrained beginner weights"
No, that's what you started with.

It's the truth. Happened this year, in fact. I'm now slowly bulking back and my progression is fairly slow.
