The Inman Mile

Put 150% of your body weight on a barbell, put that barbell on your shoulders, then walk a mile without stopping. It's never been done.

Will Jow Forums be the first?

yeah I'll get right on that.

That sounds hilariously retarded

lol
this dumbass dyel eric sucking faggot does more stupid shit than crossfit

So you're saying that walking with 150% of your body weight is retarded but bending over and picking it up is legit?

Yes

so ur saying that taking 100 punches is the same as one punch?

Why.

So, let's say a person actually had it in mind to complete something like this. Would he just throw 150% on his back and start walking everyday, or would he start slow with maybe less than 50% and work from there?

What would the strategy be to complete something like this? Mileage with relatively low weight? Short reps with weight?

Strength endurance is complicated.

Because of the impact on your knees, and when lifting you are supposed to keep your back aligned which you can't do while walking, especialy a mile. Most squat injuries accurate while stepping back or forward while racking or taking the weights

yea but this shit op is talking about is fuckn stupid

I can't even squat my own bodyweight.

how fat rofl

also, why not get a backpack or a double backpack and load it up accordingly? probably better for you (your knees will suffer anyhow)

Before you do something like this, take two 20kg kettlebells and carry them a mile. When you get too tired after the first 100m (assuming you make it that far) let us know how your knees and back feel.

It's an official USAWA "lift" and it's never been done... in fact, I don't think there's been anybody who's gone half a mile.

You'll occasionally encounter people who go out and do it in segments, but never one continuous effort. Not even close.

I would never start with anything over half my bodyweight.

Yeah this

This is pretty stupid, OP. If you wanna ruck than ruck but don't do this.

You aren't supposed to use a barbell you fucking spacker, you use a yoke.
That said, I don't think anyone has ever actually been able to do it. I think the best chance would be someone like a 95kg class weightlifter or u90kg strongman because the problem with a bigger bloke doing it is that the weight scales up too. A 90kg man doing it would only need a 135kg yoke, which isn't very heavy at all, but over a mile would still be horrific

> 2018
> OP literally can't complete the Snap City Challenge

If you use a yoke rather than a bar there's no real risk of snappage, it'd just be horrible.

Honestly I'd recommend a well built manlet for this, so there's less weight wearing down on your knees. A stocky manlet too. Honestly only a dwarf could do this.

Uhhh I might try it with a bar and a plate

I believe the closest is 2/3 of a mile.

Kek I can do farmers with 20kg in each hand for 5 min straight and I weight 72kg. You dont feel them in your lower back or knees, you feel them in your traps and forearms.

Not sure if bloatmaxx or marathoner is better build for this

i'd say some 250kg walking training would come in handy here

>x1.5 bodyweight is around 200lbs
I could probably do it

Yea it’s hard enough for me to walk backwards a few steps with lmao3plates on my back...No Thx Jeff

5'5 80kgs 15% bf count me in

I press a pl8, I’m at 1.5 pl8 bench and I can barely do body weight, don’t trip. I think it’s harder for us anatomically. Coincidentally finished leg day today. Good luck user

Sounds gay, I'll pass

Those chinamen olympic weightliftin ladies could probably do it.

Hi jj

Trips then dubs, it is clear you have been selected

You'll get there soon my man, I believe in you.

well when you put it THAT way...

Start with strength, work it up to at least 2.5x bw over a few steps, increase the distance while decreasing the load.

I can barely squat my bodyweight for 6 reps let alone 150%

GUYS

LISTEN UP GUYS

GREAT IDEA GUYS

WHAT IF WE

HEAR ME OUT THIS GON BE GUD

WHAT IF WE MADE LOADED CARRIES GAYER AND MORE INJURY PRONE FOR BRAGGING RIGHTS :D

Milo of Preotones

You better deliver, faggot

And yet farmers walk is one of the best exercises you can do. It's almost like injuries like you describe are due to not bracing properly, but that can't be it right?

With farmers walk the weight is at your hip, not your shoulders, and your arms can compensate for the movement.

Barbell training is healthy as fuck though?

i think calisthenics is the healthiest form of weight training

okay but barbell training is still healthy as fuck for your bone density and overall strength

the center of gravity is lower so its easier to control. But still a misstep could fuck things up if you go too heavy too soon.

T H E S W O L E M O L E

>big corporate shill angry at the little guy for doing nothing wrong
fucking chinks doing nuclear bathtubs in their backyards and you got a problem that i bought some plastic chairs

>Marathon running is healthy as fuck for your ability to run marathons

I unironicly think I have a good chance, since:
>60 kg weight (55 kg goal)
I only need to lift 90 kg (82,5 kg)
>skinny arms, thick legs
Main problem is not to lift the 80-90 kg, it is to keep walking
>slow twitch
One mile at that pace takes some time, fast twitch is burned out too fast.
>cardio
My cardiovascular and respiratory system are probably better than 99% of Jow Forums

Probably still need some training and loose some weight, but it should be possible.

can barely even squat 315 for 3, how the fuck could i walk with it on my fucking back for a mile...the shuffle out of the rack with it is bad enough...

post beard, dwarfie

5'3" 130 lbs here
I went as low as 8% at 123 lbs earlier this year.

5"3, 165 and carrying some extra weight.
>cut down to 145
>walk a mile with less than two plates
lul

Also 5"3
Last time I was 120 was when I wrestled in high school
Eat, user

By default, I am reasonably sure I can do it.

If I can walk 2 miles without fatigue at my body weight of 225 then logic dictates that if I double my body weight, I should be able to walk one mile. It is pretty linear, it seems.

Oh, I do eat, but my I don't do upper body.

I will try this, probably 1km at 100%ish bodyweight first.

Dunno about that one big fella

Dude train your upper body

This is just rucking

Are you allowed to ride roller coasters?

Ive done a 20 mile hike with 100% BW dont see how this can be that much harder

No, not my goal.
I don't train for aesthetics.

Lol, yes I'm just above the cutoff :)
Don't really like roller coasters though

Backpack:
>Made to be as comfortable as possible, specifically designed to hold weight and not destroy your shoulders while you ruck

Barbell:
>Thin piece of non-compressible metal, uneven, requires you to balance across your back

Me neither
You should still train your upper body

people don't do farmer's walks for a mile either
Fucking retard

What about those guys ? They carry heavy loads every day around toxic fumes for a few dollars.

Being able to run a marathon is not necessary for good health.
Good bones and muscles, however, are necessary.
