So is manual labour a benefit or a negative for gains? I saw mixed opinions
So is manual labour a benefit or a negative for gains? I saw mixed opinions
Negative first then you hopefully adapt and it stops being a factor.
Negative for longterm life goals or any other goals whatsoever. No positives and no effect on training besides u being tired or burning too many calories if u dont rest or eat right. Idiot
You wont need to do cardio due to the nature of the job, but you should eat accordingly to your activity.
It's more a challenge psychologically. You feel beat up everyday, but you're not getting progressive overload so you still have to gym feeling like shit. If you can get used to that you'll make it.
I’d say it’s a positive if you don’t lift or are within your first year of lifting, but a negative if you already have a solid base of muscle and strength. Just means youll be more tired and need to eat more.
I worked for a moving company for about 6 months. Got stronger when it came to moving bulky awkward things, good forearm and grip gains and I also lost about 15-20 pounds. I did end up hitting the gym less because the job was longish hours and pretty exhausting especially on hot days. All in all I liked it, decent money too but no benefits
Yes it's much healthier to either sit in a cubicle or at your computer in your bedroom all day. Minimize physical exertion at all costs unless you're doing one of the special exercises.
Is manual labour + 2x a week full body the patrician choice?
Would driving a forklift be considered manual labour?
physically no. Mentally, i imagine it would take the same toll, i.e monotonous, tiring. Source: I do labouring
Manual labor jobs are EXCELLENT for losing weight. Warehouses are filled with former fatties who say their weight just started "melting off" when they started working manual labor.
These jobs are good for weight less and functional fitness.... not massive gains.
I've worked manual labor for about 7 years now. My grip strength is great, and when I want to lose weight it's easy af
3 days into a labouring job in construction
mixing concrete everyday for 10 hours non-stop
While I recognise I can do this job, I don't think the health and lifestyle trade off is worthwhile.
There's an income threshold where it becomes worth it but this job is under it. I'll be quitting at the end of the week.
>Manual labor
gains dont matter when ur a poor loser lmao
>Le Manual Labor is for poor people
Worst meme in existance.
>Idiot
not op but why did you feel the need to add this
poor manual laborer without a degree DETECTED
But i am working on my degree as i am 20 year old and just starting university, in my situation manual labor jobs give me way more money than office jobs
maybe because you are studying an absolutely SHIT degree? lemme guess, something like History lol?
neet opinions are automatically discarded
You don't get jobs for your degree before finishing university you fucking retard
shit degree then, got it champ
Just tell him what you're studying
...CS
I did
Gains? No. It does however condition you to feel less pain.
Pussy
I'd say negative only because you will not be able to rest properly.
Sigh. I have the same job lined up but getting paid 2.5k/w instead of 800. Know your worth.
I used to unload semi-trucks. Fuck anyone who says that ain't good work. Lifting 100lb boxes all day.
>Lifting 100lb boxes all day.
Sounds boring and hard. Can't they just do it with computers? Upload to the cloud or something?
Get an internship. If you can't, you must be retarded or lazy.
Yes. i have been doing this for almost 4 years now. Good thing i have to only do this for 30 hours a month though. If i had to do this 40 hours a week, it would be impossible to lift.
If you are untrained/fat it can be a negative because it drains a lot of energy. When I worked in a warehouse I was exhausted most days. But I was 230lbs.
It helped me with """functional""" and grip strength. After a month of working for a moving company 5pl8 deadlift moved like butter and didnt need straps. before it was a fucking grind and needed straps for 5pl8
I mean i was a skinnyfat stoner/gamer when I got into freight. It definitely helped me get going at least.
yes, it is much healthier
lifelong manual laborers are fucked up with overuse injuries
Hands are always fatigued (specifically extensors) which has lowered my deadlift grip strength. Waiting to see if I'll adapt to it though
Physical labor is great if you
>eat enough calories
>drink more water buddeh
>get enough sleep
I used to work as a trench digger for a while and shoulder gains were breddy gud from moving thousands of shovel-loads a day. 90% of construction workers have shit diets so they look like shit
Lel, in my country crane operator gets paid around fourfold of what senior accountants get, so there goes your argument right in the crapper
Finland?
you know that you can stand at your desk?
problem solved.
I mean its fine but problems arise because
a) most manual labourers have poor form/overuse certain muscles/joints
b) they all eat like shit because theres a "we do manual work so calories dont count" mentality.
I've done manual labour and never met anyone on jobs whose lunch wasnt either fast food or a prepacked sandwich meal with an energy drink and a doughnut or something.
A huge portion of them also smoke compared to other professions which doesnt help.
I trained for a marathon + lifted most days, while laying kerbs for 10 hours a day. AMA
No it's not. Breathing in chemicals, carcinogenic dust, being exposed to extremely loud noises, getting constant repetitive strain injuries, constant knee, shoulder and back problems that never get a chance to heal properly is not healthy. Sitting down for 8 hours is a lot more healthy
