I have always counted my calories, but here for the past 6 or 8 months my wife has been counting her macros, as a result she is eating more calories than she was before, has lost bodyfat and has increased on her lifts. This makes me think there may be some truth to macro counting. What does Jow Forums think?
how would calculating the macronutrients of the food you eat be a meme? almost every pro athlete/bodybuilder does this
Leo Brooks
this is pretty standard for a normal diet. ive usually went between 45-55 while i was tracking depending on what kind of training i was doing.

Josiah Sullivan
No, always monitor your macros.

Because fat and carbs are used for energy, does it matter what ratio I get on them? Some days my carbs are at 50% fat around 30% but other days it flips (like if I eat ribs for dinner). Does it actually matter for me? I'm 6'2" 200lbs male
You need carbs user to fuel your body if you work out.

>high carbs make you have a gut >athletes/competitors need high carbs
Which one is it /o/?
Evan Cox
Absolutly count your calories. If you are consistent and are withing 5grams of your macro's daily and 50cals, you will find that you can remove as a little as 20g of carbs and 5g of fat and that will have huge effects on your body composition.
Example of standard set up often used: 50% carbs 25%fat 25% prot

>50% carbs
For me thats just not realistic, I lift a lot and do LIGHT cardio (run a mile a day) and If I was eating those macros I would be fat, then again I am "carb sensitive"

perfect setup is 40 carbs 30 protein 30 fat prove me wrong
Cameron Clark
Who is trolling who? Highest part is obviously protein.
Evan Peterson
in MFP carbs are always blue
Gabriel Howard
No, it isn't. You need enough protein to build muscle (if bulking) and preserve it (if cutting). You also need enough fat to promote hormonal balance and enough carbs to give yourself better energy throughout the day.
That said, the keto idiots are wrong when they say carbs make you fat. The calorie-dense "carb foods" they think of, like cakes, and donuts, are actually high in fat. Try getting fat off an all-potato or all-oatmeal diet and see how easy it is compared to an all-bacon diet. Weight loss and weight gain are both about calories in vs calories out, plain and simple. You don't need a lot of fat to keep your T from dropping.
Henry Morales
the fact that you should eat more then 600 calories a day

>the top performers of the ultimate meme sport are in shape, therefore crossfit for the remaining 99% is a good idea >imblying they built those physiques doing crossfit and not conventional strength training
if you want very little results and a lot of injuries, crossfit is a good place to start
Jason Peterson
That's been my story of 2018 doing 6 day PPL after hitting 1/2/3/4 x5 on starting strength. I might as well join crossfit so I can have injured friends as well
