>I LOVE classic rock >proceed to exclusively listen to a shuffled playlist of singles from ACDC, Black Sabbath, Motley Crue, Pink Floyd, AOR and Toto's Africa without even thinking of trying artists from the 50's or experimental rock
I don't know, I think musically, there are a lot more examples of rock music being competently fulfilled as compositions, which gives it more artistic weight them - it's been proven that modern pop music has reduced dramatically in originality of the melodies, keys and rhythms employed. There are also a lot of rock and roll records not about sex and drugs, but OP doesn't do many favours for this argument using AC/DC as the thread image because they are basically trailer trash tier.

>LED ZEPPELIN HAD COMPOSITIONS TOO! THEIR SONGS ARE FUCKING DEEP AS FUCK!!
Connor Bell
I'm really into rock and metal, but I also listen to oldschool rap. Nothing wrong with it. West side till we die
Joshua Richardson
I listen to a little bit of everything from Dogbowl to Pygmy waterdrumming to Music Therapy with the Developmentally Handicapped.

They like Harry Partch and/or Gavin Bryars.

>dogbowl
user with good taste detected, I've had margaret's eyes stuck in my head for like 18 years now.

does it really matter what technically sounds better or is more complex? if a person likes one piece of music thats just the same melody over and over again who cares?
>I BET YOU'RE FUCKING GAY HIPSTERS WHO CAN APPRECIATE THE TASTE OF TRUE TALENT LIKE AC/DC, AND LED ZEPPELIN, BECAUSE IT WAS TOO "MAINSTREAM" FOR YOU!
Owen Perez
I was never a fan of classic rock. I appreciate bands like Motley Crue, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd and so on (though I despise Acdc with a passion) But I much prefer 90s alternative because it's far darker but with more relatable youthful undertones
Nirvana used to be my go-to, but I've branched into Soundgarden, Alice in Chains (with Layne, not William) Tool, some Pearl Jam but not a lot, and even some Sepultura and Type O Negative (not exclusive to the 90s but still)
That said, rap is fun when it's done right and by "done right" I mean it's absolutely hysterical I've heard the who "rags to riches" way too many times to take serious messages seriously anymore, which is now why I can unironicallly listen to Yung Gravy, Filthy Frank, and Lil Barnacle

>when you realise the prolific satanic themes in rock and roll aren't just theatre and that countless related artists report literally having their bodies possessed by spirits on stage and while writing music, as well as sometimes channeling music they've never practiced and can't even normally play
And people still think Satan doesn't exist...

Does anything really matter?
I guess if you value music as an expressive emotionally complex language then yeah it would matter to you if modern musical culture revolved around the various permutations of an ever decreasing palette of sound.
I mean, you could write a bunch of books with about 50 or so unique words repeated in different forms, but would it contain any profundity and why would you want to read any of them?
Jace Baker
I listen to the same classical rock songs as many other anons, but also enjoy rap music. generally if people ask me about what genre of music i enjoy, i tell them that i like everything what is good. Every genre can have good music, as long as it was made with love and passion.
Just as every genre has tons of examples of bad music
Nolan Reed
it maybe true to you that a book with 50 unique words is a pointless creation but if someone enjoys that book i don't really care and i don't understand why anyone should care.

>rock music has originality >literally 90% of it all is power chords in the key of E and A
Eli Kelly
OP, that's all fine and dandy, but who are you quoting?
Nicholas Garcia
> puts record in player > shookmeallnightlong.wav > superior music not about sex > highwaytohell.wav > nospeedlimit.wav > superior music not about drugs and sins > dirtydeedsdonedirtcheap.wav > superior music about not outnumbering one person and beating them up cus they pick on me
Sounds like most music today in a different format.
So I actually do know. Rock was based on Sebastian Bach and those guys. So back then it didn't change much either and older generations then said, "all they did was put electricity to it" > highway star by deep purple Hammond B4 organ solo routed through a Marshal stack > directly taken from a Bach composition. > the truest old school way or resampling. Today they say the same thing. "All they did was out a computer to it" Music is the biggest circle jerk to have ever existed and literally no music is superior to the other. But people are superior to one another, at least in their minds. > MUH MUSAC BEST MUSAC REEEEEE
The three chords that were in that rock song was in some old jazz song or classical piece The three chords are used in modern music today THEY SOUNDED THE SAME

I miss Lil Peep.

> the virgin rock > the chad metal
Isaiah Russell
There's bad rock, there's good rock. There's bad metal, there's good metal. There's bad rap, there's good rap. There is no good pop. If it's done just for fame and money, it's quite obvious. It's about the soul put in the music, the emotions in it.
