I just did. It's harder but I still advanced some in strength. I fucked up with my close grip bench press form though on the second set and had to rerack with one side missing the plates that fell off. I laughed and didn't even try the third set for that specific exercise.

Though at least now I know that even if the plates fall off one side I'm very well able to hold on to the bar so that it doesn't go flying.

Back in high school I got a cold and told my coach I wasn’t coming in for winter lifting. He told me to come in and guaranteed I’d feel better if I worked out. He was right, I got over it pretty quickly. So now whenever I have a minor illness like that I go workout.

If that's an actual infection that would take a week or so to cure, you can train, but it will hinder your recovery. You might feel better during the training and some time after, but once the fatigue hits you, you know that the virus in your body is fucking thankful.

I don't. Take a week off till you recover fully, you don't want to be sneezing and coughing all over the gym equipment. Plus, lots of germs at the gym, you will only make yourself worse.

You probably still can, but there are too many demerits to do so that outweigh any benefit you may achieve.

1. Weakening your body further will just make it easier for whatever shit to go hog while your immune system isn't able to focus on that shit
2. You're a plague spreading gym rat, and thus a literal gains goblin as you thus make others sick and unable to go to the gym because of your decision.
3. You're not going to be able to go as heavy as you were able, as your body won't be at 100%, thus your gains would be limited anyways. See also point #1.
4. Your recovery time will just double because you just further compromised your body's capability to recover properly. See point #1 again.

If you really need to be up and about, just take a walk or something to promote some blood flow as then that would let your body cycle out whatever it needs to move in or out. Ultimately, just fucking rest the day or two you're going to be the most infectious anyways.

I think the rule is, if you feel like working out, do it, but if you feel like you need to rest, don't workout.

If you have a virus in particular, do not do any extraneous lifting. Myocarditis survivor. I got sick and went to work, infection spread to my heart. Nearly died.
