Which program did people follow before SS was invented?
Which program did people follow before SS was invented?
A lot of people were on the "busting their ass to not starve to death" program.
Chest and tris, back and bis, legs and shoulders (skipping legs half of the time).
rippetoe lookin thiccc
Lift heavier each week or session program
lift weights and eat food
Live xF
5x5 has been around forever, just depends on the variations, like Reg Park's which Arnie started on, or Bill Starr's which built to a heavy top set of 5
That's not as widespread as you'd think, especially most people's first exposure then and still now being bodybuilding type splits, or just bench, curls, seated DB press, 1/4 squats, and whatever else they could come up with, especially Weider type machine circuit training
>before SS was invented?
it was called "Commencing Fortitude"
People still use SS?
Phraks greyskull is miles ahead for beginners
it's miles behind
phrak is a skinny little redditor faggot who peaked at a 275lb squat and snapped his shit doing it, and including AMRAPs in beginner programming is utterly retarded
you do not have the technical proficiency yet to make AMRAPs safe, they generate an overblown amount of fatigue compared to how much additional stimulus they provide, and they're not even a good way to add volume because 1. AMRAPing your last set doesn't even add that much volume to begin with 2. accumulating more fatigue on a routine that calls for session to session progress is moronic
for sure don't take advice from some brainlet called "johnny pain" or some fucking DYEL redditors, just do the SS program as written because it's the best and most fully documented beginner program out there and it's nearly retard proof if you read the actual book, and it's only something you will do for 3-6 months tops before you move on to intermediate programming
Starting stones
But, t Rex mode and awful progress photos
Phraks didn't create greyskull his variant is just the best.
No rookie should be on a fixed program if they haven't sorted their form. 5x5 reps of poor form is just as bad as amrap.
SS has WAAYYY to much squatting for noobies resulting in the trex look we see so often.
Volume in greyskull comes from warmup. If you read the actual program you basically do almost full sets each warm-up jump.
Only genuine concern is the amrap but that can be avoided with proper education and teaching people not to ego lift.

Ftfy
Whats your OHP?
kek
I've been here for years, how have I neer seen that ronnie before

What is your problem with 5rep programs?
They are my favourite for strength and allow me to lift heavier without compromising form. As I said if you use your warmups they become your volume
a great way to spot someone who doesn’t know shit is screams of “SS causes T-Rex mode” while they make no gains doing a million different upper body isolations
Fucking what? Im literally recommending a compound based full body program are you a spaz?
Im not saying SS is shit but it is dated at fuck and there are better modern alternatives
what's a good modern alternative compound lift program
If only your brain could squat then maybe you'de be able to wrap your Neanderthal head around the concept of reading.
Greyskull. You know the whole thing that started this conversation
I'm not the user you were talking to, I just joined the thread and saw your comment after scrolling to the bottom
Do be so quick to insult
Hey how does it feel like knowing I got to two place bench after 4 months on SS? Enjoy snapping your shit as a beginner attempting amrap sets and still making no gains
SS is pretty good imo, though once your squat gets symmetric to your upper body strength I'd recommend going from squat 3x deadlift 1x per week to alternating them. Aside from that, as long as your numbers keep going up there is no good reason to get off SS. If your legs get too big then just skip some squat sets.
What is your bodyweight, ohp and bench?
If you cant amrap correctly youre a fucking tard.
also I'de believe youve been lifting for only 4 months if youre still going on about SS lmao.
I think it's pretty new
>once your squat gets symmetric to your upper body strength
What do you mean by that?
It was SS still but it meant Sticks and Stones
reg parks 5x5
those are some fucking world of warcraft dwarf calves
yeah but his routine has a PH in it
like phat, or phul, or PP(h)L
