I do understand his meaning, a hobby for many is something you actually need to invest time, effort and money in to. Things like music, movies, anime and video games are often a single purchase followed by nothing. There is nothing after you complete this activity so they are more like an experience than a hobby, you didn't expend any effort to complete the task (except maybe video games).

In simple words, hobby is making/creating something. By watching or listening you are just consuming.

Pretty much, there are even competitions based on those things if you really want to try to pull out the "you gotta be productive card". Winning a competition is considered being productive.

I also believe the diefintion of hobby is wrong.
when people talk about hobbies it's almost always something seen as productive so if you really had to describe what a hobby is without ever looking at the dictionary you would think it's about being productive in your free time.

I'm just a super autist with no friends, I don't have the drive to do anything so I just listen to music all day and cry myself to sleep but wake up early due to insomnia. I wish I had someone to talk to about all of the ideas I have and my personal beliefs.

Now i live in an aptmt for this new job, in a new state, and i still shoot my bow, but now i have to walk to a small lake near my aptmt, its only like 3 mins away, but im always embarassed kind of by the ppl staring at me,

like FUCK YOU GUYS i just enjoy not being a god damn NORMMIE who watches TV or movies all fucking day or goes to bars.

just 2 more years untill i get my 150 acres woodland. than my hobby will be living in that forest, with a small house on the weekends.
