Lots of things, actually.
The participation trophy generation always being told they're fine even if they don't do well, discouraging competition and achievement.
The increasing prevalence of sugar-infused crap everywhere. Companies exploiting the sugar addiction by adding it to everything.
The sponsorship of corn for high fructose corn syrup, a primary component of a lot of these sugar-infused items as well as sodas.
Sodas.
Fast food taking over.
Not enough encouragement of activity.
Social media allowing people to get their social fix while sitting on their fat asses instead of going out and doing something.
Nobody does any woodsman or survival shit any more except maybe the Boy Scouts. People would be helpless if they ever got ejected from their homes.
Nobody does ANYTHING for themselves any more. Possibly the worst thing that contributes to everything else being bad. The rest wouldn't be nearly as bad if it weren't for this.
Body Positivity / HAES. This just makes people ignore the problem. But it also contributes because if people ignore the problem of course it gets worse.
Nonwhites
Automobiles
Women outside the kitchen
A case of sudden deterioration of genetics
"Fat is evil" -> low fat diets -> shitton of added carbs in every food
Vegans
Map of each obese and severely obese person in the USA
I hate fat people so goddamn much
Each single fatass.
No one is to blame but them.
If you put blame and responsibility outside of yourself you're a faggot that will never make it.
If you are responsible for yourself, then, by consequence, every single human alive is responsible for himself too.
So every fattie is at fault for what he is.
Big shower. Cold showers burn brown fat keeping the body warm during a cold shower.
>he fell for the cold shower meme
I would say foods like oreos and oreos in general, 140 calories for two, you can down a whole pack in an day. like 3600 calories and still feel hungry.
So basically higher populated areas. Thanks.
>Low fat craze/high carb diet
>Sponsoring corn/HFCS
>Reduced funding for schools, leads to less gym classes and sports
>Profit-driven healthcare, unchecked health issues turn chronic, chronic illnesses lead to inactivity
>Fucked up infrastructure that limits practical bike/foot commuting, lack of public parks
>Lack of healthier fast food
>Fucked up system decades in the making that didn't have public health as a founding principle.
>fucked up fitness industry making diet and exercise seem way more complicated than it is, further confusing the general public
>HAES? That's a more recent development though, I think it's more of a reaction to the situation than a cause.
I'm gonna say capitalism and education had a huge role in this. Look at the fitness industry for example. It wouldn't exist as we know it if the general public had basic knowledge of healthy diet and exercise. But because people aren't taught this stuff, there's a chance for some guy to sell them a magic pill or some gimmick machine that will have them quit in 3 weeks when they don't see results. Not to mention shit like Crossfit that turns exercise into this XTREME HARDCORE performance, when in reality having an active lifestyle should be on the same level as brushing your teeth, just a basic requirement for your health.
I believe the government has chosen to undermine preventative healthcare to keep the people down. If people are inactive and sick, they have no choice but to participate in the wagecuckery, which means less time to hold the government accountable for shit. Not to mention the profits for the pharmaceutical and insurance industries, which are a fucking abomination. HAES complicates the problem even more, but it didn't cause the obesity crisis. I think it's more of a symptom/complication.
Redpilled.
gracias
>I believe the government has chosen to undermine preventative healthcare to keep the people down.
Aaaand here you can see where he careens right off the cliff. It was looking good up until then
I thought the "I believe" made it clear that's just how I see it from where I'm standing.
Suburbs
Well except for the east coast, but yeah it’s pretty much a population chart
Which is where you happen to throw critical thinking out the window and blame gubbermintz rather than thinking on the issue harder.
There is far more that has gone into it than one "all governing" force and you do yourself a disservice by not learning that. You target yourself against a false foe and allow the real problem to go unchecked
simple human evolution.
we evolved for millions of years under conditions where food was hard to come by, especially high calorie fatty or sugary foods... and now we can't stop eating them. If you pour a whole bag of dog food on the floor, will your dog stop eating it after it's reached its maintenance calorie requirement?
You don’t have to be a \pol\tard to believe that the us government is not necessarily aiming to create a healthy strong population, but is content to let them decay.
Based and redpilled
I could've sworn I read an article not long ago about how like 70% of all the natives in Hawaii are obese
As a Brit, it correlates with the level of Americanisation/commercialisation by Euro countries, and the levels of rationing undergone in each country. A generation of people with empty shelves liked to see those shelves full, and with increased access comes increased consumption.
Kuwait and the UAE are pretty bad too since the 90s thanks to American fast food.
Yeah dude. Not the whole government dude. Lmao like how could he think like that? Not all spooks brother.
>Colorado is again the last bastion of hope
>That 'hope' is 20-25% of the population being obese.
Whites in America are fat as fuck
There's no doubt that there will be some subversive elements inside the government that have that interest, but not as many as you would think. There will be congressional members and senators that are in the pockets of big pharma but the vast majority just don't know better which is the real issue. They don't mandate fitness and physical health because they're all too concerned about maintaining their budgets and making cuts to services so they can get re-elected. In a 4 year term you get to spend roughly 2 years trying to make changes by voting on them and trying to pass movements then you spend 2 years campaigning to keep your job. During that short amount of time most of the major and revolutionary motions you try to push will either be tabled for down the road or corrupted by people with an agenda before it gets the chance to be voted on. This is only scratching the surface of what's wrong in that capacity but there are so many other areas that support the poor health of Americans including their own doctors and health care system
>I could've sworn I read an article not long ago about how like 70% of all the natives in Hawaii are obese
Propably overweight, user.
>Capitalism
Good point. People in communist countries sure are skinny now that I think about iy
100% pharmaceutical industry. Can't sell people nearly as many drugs if they're healthy. Also, those with control of the pharmaceutical industry also own the food industry. Sell food to get people fat. Sell them drugs to keep them alive so they can buy more food and more drugs. Money. The answer is always money. If it was actually a crisis where no one stood to profit, we as a society would be working to fix it. But big pharma is cashing in, big time.
what the fuck. 1 in every 4-5 person is obese?
>dude don't criticize capitalism because your only other choice is communism
Poor guy bacteria. everyone needs a poop transplant from Ethiopia, it will fix the issues at hand.
Pacific islanders are genetically inclined for bloat.
>People in communist countries sure are skinny now that I think about iy
That's because there is no food to buy and you literally cannt buy most food stuffs.
You got tickets which you could trade for choclate, but that was like 1 bar of chocolate per month.
Meat was luxury, the cargo ship with non-native fruit coming to port soon was transmitted on the news.
Basicly goverment supported famine was the way of life.
this and only this
It looks like you're making/already have a few assumptions about me from what I posted, and I can't help you with that. Also correct me if I'm wrong, but it looks like the mention of government is all that bothered you. Again, I can't help you there.
If I wasn't thinking hard about the problem, I would've just answered "fat people are weak-willed" and left it at that. I listed many things that have been discussed as contributors to the obesity crisis. If that's not critical thinking to you, I don't know if you understand that term.
Seems like you ignored most of my post as soon as you read the last bit. I know "triggered" gets thrown around, but that's what I'm getting here.
I didn't say anything about criticizing capitalism. I was just making a communist joke
I already assume everyone here is a fascist anyway
THat's the 'best' state, user. 1/3 of the USA is obese.
This does not count the people who are simply overweight.
I'd bet my left nut that obese and overweight people make up more than 60% of the population by now. HAES can be passed as law and soon, you'll have the 28th Amendment.
your right, people were pretty thin in feudal societies too
The government food label that told people that animal products are bad and vegetable oil like crisco are good. Less saturated fats. More processed foods. Sugar. More sedentary lifestyle because everything is so convenient. Factory foods. Culture of “body positivity “, entitled people that actually believe “beauty in every size”
A lot of things.
The Amish are healthy weights. No reason to think people weren't so under feudalism.
It's mainly the area where you fell apart and where you went off the track.
You hit the nail on the head for pharma being in on it, but that's not all of it either.
Your point in HAES is spot on for being a symptom, but I think it's more of a symptom of a culture of entitlement that has stemmed from the easy American lifestyle that has been pushed seeded since the 1950's.
I don't think the government in its current state is benefitting the people as a whole, but there is no agenda to keep the people suppressed by keeping them fat. Also blaming government for people wagecucking is retarded, since it is the rich-elite who benefit the most from having destitute sublasses
corporate capitalism
every other black woman is obese
liberals
>inb4 glomper and southerns are fat
No shit, but liberals have made fat acceptance part of their ideology at this point
reddit as fuck
the government dosen't give a fuck about your health and openly subsidizes HFCS production and feeds children in schools garbage
>the only alternative to capitalism is communism
