im sure you have heard it all before but if you are going to college/uni just go to class. socially dont think you are doomed you always have time to change. i feel like many cliches are revealed to be truth as you grow older and although i know it sounds like meaningless bullshit you are still at a crossroads where you can change your life/outlook/perspective if you really put the effort into it. even if you fuck up or keep fucking up like i did you can try to live a full life like i am doing now at my old boomer age. you can make mistakes and they will feel like the end of the world but you may also see that the world and specifically your world keeps going on despite how shit you feel and hopefully you can find some comfort in that fact as i did. take care younganon. sincerely

18 in 2000 would've likely made me a better person due to video games and porn not being as readily available as they are now. I also would've been my current age when Jow Forums was founded, and likely never would've been an internet addict like I am now. Would've been cool to experience some adulthood pre-9/11 too. On the other hand, advances in technology have made living even easier in the last 18 years, so there's that. Overall, I think I'd prefer growing up then or even a few years earlier.

Early 2000's is less off-putting because it's much more similar to today than the 90's. That's honestly all it is.

Technology as a whole, really. Internet and mobile phones. Consoles instead of arcade games. I think the 90's opened up a big bottle of cynicism and realism that the 80's hid under the surface. Shit like Oklahoma City bombing, Columbine, Waco, LA riots, etc. We failed to get past that loss of hope, and 9/11 was the final nail in the coffin. There's so much more to it than I can cover in a Jow Forums post, but the 90's and early 2000's drastically changed society, and it hasn't really been shaken by anything since like it was then.
