why even bother live?

>be airborne infantry for 4 years
>get out amry
>wake up every morning, knees hurt, back hurts, shoulder hurts

Despite this however, I still wanna do paratrooper stuff.

Mfw I got medically disqualified from the infantry for a vision condition i was born with...
Looking at getting a waiver and reenlisting in 5 months. Can't enlist into a combat role but can still be a paratrooper.

It sucks because I was more mentally and physically conditioned and competitive compared to the other recruits. My eye condition is very mild (nystagmus) and doesnt affect anything, only shows up when i close one eye

>paratrooper
>non-combat
wut

I'm non combat paratrooper, it's a thing

Sucks to hear that. I'd request getting your papers re-examined by a doctor and maybe doing some kind of an eyesight test to ensure your recruiter that you're good and ready to go. It shouldn't be, and it's not, as black and white as it is for you right now.

i feel you user, but i was only a conscript and in for a year but i miss it and want to go back every day

So what the fuck do you do?

Attached: autistic.jpg (960x923, 132K)

did 3 years as IDF paratrooper:
>1 year of basic+advanced training
>Last part of advanced training was a double marathon force march(55 miles) with 40 pounds of gear. took 14 hours to complete.

>Today: my Back is fucked, knee cracks every squat i do.

Not worth it, unless you are built like a tank,i will admit some people are made for the soldier career ( genetically) but most are not.

Intel

Are you from Finland? If so, got any tips for the physical tests?

So you're trained to jump off planes but you don't jump off planes?

Meps just pushes everyone through. Had a guy who was colorblind in one eye and got out for the same reason.

You'd be surprised, there were a whole bunch of people who got pushed through. Had a guy with tremors, we called him shakes (kek).

My condition was in the regulations, I tried to get a second opinion and etc, tried to reclass but no luck. They just sent me home to try again.

The recruiters I have are very supportive so that's nice... I hear it takes less than 2 months to get a waiver for my condition

Why not? Apply today.

Ah fuck, forgot that there is another Nordic country with conscription, no idea why you guys have it though.

I have already. The text was solely made on larping purposes to create discussion and to prompt opinions about being in the military.

Not intelanon, but in the American army, you have airborne units who jump regularly. You dont necessarily have to be in an airborne infantry unit however many are attached to one.

So you still conduct all the jumps and conduct jump pay but you do your regular job. I know it's different in other countries but we have cooks and supply guys who jump because they are in an airborne unit. There are plenty of support jobs that jump all the time. Being airborne is just an insertion method, once you hit the ground you're just another infantry guy or intel guy, or cook

>40 pounds

Look, I'm not saying you're just as shit at war as the Americans, but you are. Wish we got M4's as standard though.

Interesting. Even the most "boring" guys get their fair share of the fun and adrenaline.

Thanks
Correct, we wear the maroon beret and look like badasses to unsuspecting sluts

Yeah, I wanted to join the infantry purely out of adrenaline. Also if you're familiar with the rangers. Almost all of these guys had ranger contracts and almost all of them will wash out of ranger selection.

It was then that I realized that the option 40 (guaranteed chance at ranger selection) contract was just a big recruiting tool by the us army for infantrymen haha, same goes with the 18x contract (special forces right off the streets)

However, I personally think the opening up of the airborne to all of the us army was part of some all inclusive participation award thing. None of these guys need to be airborne qualified. But I think everyone wants to be special.

It does boost morale and make people more competitive though.... airborne mentality and pride and all that

Its only for that specific drill though. you will not survive a 80 km 6-7 km/h pace with 60kg.

If you claim you can, you are a fuckn liar. In actual 2-3 week long drills you we would go for 40 kg fully equipped with food/ammo etc for 5 days.

But honestly, if they make you do weeks with 60 kg on you, without delegating some of that weight to logistics and stuff, your military is literally comprised of 0 experience retards.

I dont know where you served, but it is quite obvious you have never been in any type of prolonged conflict.

My old man was in the Brit paras during Op Granby.
Said he'd never wish it on anyone being in that PTSD inducing shit.

Nah, fuck that shit, it was cool and fun shit but going through obsolete infantry roles during peace time and signing out with a handicapped body is not worth it.

Sign up for some guardsman roles instead, like reserves or national guard. Your unit consists of fatties and your officers are incompetent brainlets but you still get to do the basic fun stuff with minimal risks or investment.
