Some user was talking about 10k calories being able to be burned with thermogenesis. Is this just HIIT? or is there some magic way to burn 10k calories?
10k calories a day
You'll burn close to 1000 calories swimming vigorously for an hour. Do HIIT in the pool every other hour I guess. Probably something 5x50 freestyle sprint, leave on the clock between each sprint. ie sprint on 01:00, 02:00, etc. It will take roughly 30 seconds to do 50 yards so you'll get 25-35 seconds rest depending on how fast you are. Then cool down 10 mins doing breast stroke or easy free and start over. Probably 5 sets of sprints for one session would be good. Then take an hour break.
DESU if you really give your all you'll be dead after a couple sprints, so I have no idea how feasible this is lol.

So there is no way to cheat your way to burn 10k calories. Swimming is lots of work and that workout is lots of time.
Not sure about 10k calories, but I can say that HIIT burns a lot. Until last month I was doing 15 of HIIT sprinting with a method somewhat like this:
First 5 mins - 45s sprint as fast as you can/30s fast walk
Middle 5 mins - 30s sprint AFAYC/ 45s fast walk
last 5 mins - 30s sprint AFAYC/ 45s fast walk/ sprint uninterrupted on your last minute.
I'd feel my body burning for 30 minutes afterwards. And by running as fast as you can, I really mean running as fast as you can possibly handle, max speed. Only then it will work.

Nah man. Losing fat is mainly about the diet, so you'd need to eat a bit less than you need and eat mostly lean meats and little sugars and carbs.

I'm pretty sure you would pass out and die well before you hit 10 fucking thousand calories burned. Unless you're really fat and just stopped eating.
HIIT is basically cheat mode already, it's a fantastic mechanism comparing to jogging like a little bitch for two hours.

If you keep yourself cold you can burn more calories. Still not 10k calories though.

This guy is saying you have to walk in the cold. Wear less stuff and exercise in the cold and you will lose weight overall.
I will no shit walk an hour with no shirt on to see if I lose weight in the winter. 1 hour will not cause frostbite.

Well he keeps his feet, ears, fingers, and dick warm. This is because those things get frost bite but nobody gets frost bite on their neck or stomach. So his core has to heat up to keep warm. I am a hoosier bro so it won't get cold here for another 2 months. But I will start walking every morning for one hour in the cold. Then another hour in the cold in the evening. No shirt on.

yea dude, cold training will not work for you. I will start tomorrow by jumping in my pool in the morning then an hr walk with no shirt on. I think I will keep my pool open this winter and get in until it freezes. I will keep you posted.

10k is Shaq or The Rock during peak training. No. Unless you're some sort of genetic titan you will not have a basal metabolic rate anywhere near that.

You might be able to burn a few thousand calories in one day, but the odds that your friend did so is probably a lie.
Swimming the english channel for instance would burn almost 3-4 pounds of pure fat.
It's not sustainable though. After a day of moving like this your body begins to shut down.
Opposed to walking, which burns a LOT less calories. You can walk for multiple days in a row with no issue.
Burning 10k calories a day would be incredibly hard and even if you did it one day, you'd need a lot of rest and couldn't do it multiple days in a row.

Antarctic skiers burn around 9k calories per day. About a thousand more than Nordic cross country skiers. Whether that's to do with duration or an extra 1000 calories from the cold and stress, I don't know. Endurance swimmers, such as those that take the English Channel can burn upwards of 13k calories. Depends on the weight of the swimmer.
Your best bet is either endurance swimming or cross country skiing.
