i'm trying to write rhymes but i am filled with writer's block then when i finally get out a few bars it's either nonsense or doesn't sound right with any flow or beat i put it to
and help? anyone else aspire to be the greatest MC whoever rocked the mic?
You just need to practice more and more my man. I only make beats but have been practicing freestyling to them, it gets easier the more you do it. My process is that I just rap about whatever comes to my head, even if it doesn't make sense, but I make sure to at least rhyme the words. Do you have a soundcloud or something?
Henry Howard
>rap kys degenerate
Julian Green
>Do you have a soundcloud or something? no I haven't gotten that far into it or anything. I used to enjoy writing poetry in grade school and I've always had a knack for rhyming and a big vocabulary. But I hear a hundred different way to flow (gleaned from all the music I listen to) and it's hard to settle into one that I like without biting it outright ya know? also the lyrics even if they rhyme well are silly best and gibberish at worst. my plan is/was to shamelessly jack a bunch of beats of youtube and make like a mixtape shut up bitch
Cameron Turner
Why don't we work together? I make beats, I can custom make something for you that you can rap over. I worked with a dude before that couldn't rap to any beat he tried on YouTube but I made him stuff that he could rap to, and eventually he got decent enough to the point where he could rap over any beat with his own flow. Heard this advice, and I have took it to heart. Some rapper said that you just have to freestyle in your head about some random thing you see while your doing something (I.E. taking a walk, working your job, being bored at home). If you keep this up you can just start rapping about anything. I heard that advice when I was 15, and 15 years later I get paid to ghost write for rappers. It's a pretty sweet deal, don't even have to leave my pad. All I gotta do is right some bullshit down that takes about 15 minutes, and send an email. The money is pretty decent, and it lets me stay a shut in that never has to leave his house.
are you black? how did you get the contacts to do this? I try to make music but i can't think of anything to rap about because i am a shut in neet so i have nothing to rap about.Only shit I can come up with is some gangsta rap shit that is completely fake
Bentley Baker
new brockhampton except the controversy will be spawing from the most cancerous place on the internet
Jace Johnson
>gangsta rap shit that is completely fake braggadocio has been there since day one though and you can't believe that all of the rappers who rhymed about gats were really true thugs? that's the discord that's been in hip hop always some people rap about that life while others are living it. there is nothing wrong with telling a story though even if they aren't exactly your own experiences. biggie rapped about some real crook shit but he might not have actually been that hard, countless others..

Rhymes are shit compared to structure

Naw, white as sin, and pale as fuck since I never leave my pad. As far as getting the contacts to do it, one of my high school got a job at a record label. One day he was just showing me around a studio, and I was like "I wanna rap over some gangster ass beat". I was fucking around when I said it, but he was like "o.k.". Long story short I just started free styling for like 6 minutes about what a loser piece of shit I was. Anyway I thought nothing of it, but long story short they kept the audio and it made it's rounds in the office. Everything kinda just fell into place. As far as coming up with stuff, just use what you see. Use your real life experiences, crack jokes, T.V. shows you see, pop culture, Donald Trump whatever. That sounds pretty generic and useless advice, but you really just gotta practice. I kinda treat rap like stand up comedy. I might make a joke in my head, just fucking around in my head. I then tell it to my friends and see if they laugh. If it gets responses I just use find a way to word it in a rap. I kinda go heavy on punchlines. If it makes people laugh, or sounds cool, it sells. I recommend checking out Eminem's earlier work, back when he was heavy on drugs and funny. Look at his old freestyles, they give me inspiration anyway. Thanks for reading my shitty blog.
How far have you come? I'm not OP but whenever I write it sounds great, I can come up with insane multi syllable rhymes. Whenever I freestyle though it sounds like shit, I can never come up with the next word. The most lines I'll get out at a time is like max 4.
Alexander Cruz
*high school friends*. I'm dumb and didn't proof read that. Highschool friends is how I got my connections.
lol but i aint a black dude...i brown lol no one would take me seriously >experiences lol i dont have those
also if you could compare yourself to anyone of this current generation of young rappers who would it be?
Juan Ward
well i, OP, am glad this thread facillitated some discussion between some beat makers and aspiring talent..
i've listened to all the greatest MCs and studied vibed their flows and slang and lyrics. in my head i know i could be great.. but i can't find MY voice
Nicholas Torres
I can't really compare myself to anyone in this generation as that gets kinda close to breaking some non disclosure agreements I signed. As I said, I highly recommend looking into Eminem's old freestyles, Big-Pun, Big-L, DMX, Notorious Big, Mannie Fresh. Mannie Fresh is a great example of a rapper that uses humor in his raps, and does it well. Check out this video. youtube.com/watch?v=dp9ch-dAKk0 I grew up on these guys as I literally am a 30 year old boomer, and they inspire me greatly.
>gets kinda close to breaking some non disclosure agreements come on bro its fucking Jow Forums no one would know its you. at least drop a hit if your legit
Your totally right. The odds of anyone ever reading this / caring are slim to none! That being said, I have life on E-Z STREET and I won't do a DAMN thing to fuck it up, no matter how small. God speed user, and good luck!
how long this take? maybe i could but it'd take time
Grayson Sanchez
coming up with the beat took about an hour, mixing it so it sounds half decent took about 30 minutes.
Oliver Hernandez
>there are actually rappers and producers on Jow Forums what the fuck but if you guys want to share your stuff or find people to collaborate with you should join my server
