>I can't see what people get out of it.
cause you aren't the winner lmao

Probably why I cheated a lot in school and college.

The dopamine which results from complete and utter domination of a hated enemy is indescribable. To be a winner, to dominate and control the opposition, is an addiction at the most basic level of the brain's chemistry.

Competition is fun as fuck, especially when the only goal is to win.

Yeah, and I never have been. At anything.

Even winning, I can't help but feel bad.
Like playing a PvP game, I end up feeling awful winning a match or eliminating a group of people, because I took "winning" from them, and may have made them feel bad about themselves.

Competition is necessary in nature I suppose, but for the most part it's just stupid and pointless to just stroke human egos.

Meaningless competition? Yes. There's no point.
I hate people who are overly competitive with everything. If we're just having a friendly game you don't need to be a try-hard fag all the time.
What annoys me even more than that are people who think conversations are a competition. Now those fucks need to die in a fire.

Lmao kys faggot :)"g

Venmo me enough to buy a shotgun.

kek
I've never had any desire to win or compete with anyone. I don't understand this at all.
Why would I release "dopamine" from "winning" a game or competition or something? That's pretty lame. Even if I did win, I still would find the entire thing pointless, unrewarding, and juvenile.

>The dopamine which results from complete and utter domination of a hated enemy is indescribable.
Are you saying that macho alpha fagbois are technically no different than junkie whores taking needles in their arms, chasing their next high?

because you don't win ever probably, winning at things is one of the best feelings in the world

I don't really like competition, but I do like a challenge. While I would be perfectly happy playing against the AI in most games, MMO's being the only exception, though i'm not playing of those these days. Inevitably, the AI stops being a challenge in games, so I end up playing some pvp game to satisfy that need for a challenge. I'm pretty good at vidya, so I end up high rank filled with the people who actually are competitive which is awkward though.

I fucking love competition. It's all about dominating the enemy, and working cohesively with your team, if you have one.

Your probably autistic or something. Not even joking.

He's clearly enlightened and has gone beyond the petty ways of mortal beings.

I only enjoy competition when I can see my opponent. PvP video games are mostly a letdown these days. I'd rather play pickup basketball or go to an arcade than that shit.

He could also just be really nihilistic.

I do know this feel. I once won 1st in a karate tournament, while I was happy about my performance, the looks on other's faces of disappointment and frustration made me not even want to be there. Over and over in life situations I find this display, until I finally say, "Ok I see how much you want it. Have it."

>not enjoying the humiliation that you just thrusted on your opponent
>shiggydiggy

Literally everything is stupid and pointless. Doesn't mean that you can't have fun with it.

I don't like competition either but that's probably because I don't win.

What's it mean if you love competition in video games but hate workplace competition?

These. Challenge is better than competition.
The best games I've ever had of anything are ones where I face a challenging opponent who isn't competitive to a fault. People who give it their all then win or lose at the end of the match say: "great game you played really well" and are enthusiastic about the sport of it not the win or lose side are the only people I like to play against.
People who think winning and losing is life or death are often both sore winners and losers and whether I win or lose against them it leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

This. Competition may as well translate to brutal humiliation in my eyes.

Life is experiential, one of the more entertaining experiences is besting a direct competitor. If you find any kind of pvp focused video game you at least in part understand the appeal.

Probably that you're sane. One's fun, and the other has to do with your livelihood.

Seconding this. An easy victory is meaningless. I'd much rather barely lose because of my own fuckups than dominating someone.

What if your opponent is cocky and sure of his ability? Wouldn't it be such sweet joy to crush his aspirations and take the prize for yourself?

>it's just stupid and pointless to just stroke human egos
spooky

Competition is fun, but the moment people start taking it too seriously (sore losers, bad winners, etc) I have little drive to play anything with them. I don't like one-on-one games for that reason.

Journey, not the destination. Taking joy in the journey of competition is far sweeter than taking joy in the destination.
Playing against people like that is tiresome and spoils the fun of the journey. They're the types who say "I'm gonna fuck u up n00b" instead of "Nice moves, but watch this!" and I'll take the latter any day.

cool thread op. ill share a story, if no one minds.

>be 11 and super competitive
>my only dream in life is to be a professional golfer
>i practice day and night, work hard at being the best
>golf is my life by age 14. i eat, drink and sleep golf
>i win the city junior championship for my age group in my small town in dominant fashion
>feel invincible and better than everyone else
>parents send me to special golf academy for the best golfers in the state
>am shocked when i learn there are kids better than me, younger than me, who work even harder than me
>i am not even in the top half of the class in terms of talent
>after a month i realize no matter how hard i work, no matter how much i practice, i will never be among the best
>call my mom and tell her to come get me because im quitting golf

my parents were so disapointed in me and my dad called me a quitter, but i realized the cold hard truth, that even if you love something and work day and night to be the best at it, it doesnt mean you will be.

The second person is lame as fuck, and I hope I never get you on my team.

You are a quitter. You could've started working harder than they did.

Communism is possible.

yeah but i used to like it, it's just that my damaged ego is more hurt by failure than i am embiggened by winning to the point of it always being a net loss.

he's right though, sports are competitive and to be a pro you can't even remember when you started training you were so young.

How good do you think it felt to be Hitler that time he walked into a communist rally, punched the speaker in the face, then had his stormboys raid the meeting and beat the fuck through all the communists present? That's a real competition and a real winner right there.

Yes, and that makes me not entirely male. Also my index finger is longer than the ring finger.

YOU SOUND LIKE SOMEONE WHO LOSES ALL THE TIME

This is an important truth. One needs to opt out of any competition that isn't going according to his own rules.

This is a very tacit observation, see ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/m/pubmed/26484605/

>tfw you do well at pvp games but the guilt of annihilating the opposition takes over you
>tfw they all rally up to nuke you and call you trash etc when they succeed

>challenge
Agreed so much
Especially about the sentiments of barely losing >>> overwhelming victory

>Win
>feel nothing
>Lose
>feel my fucking piss boil, bash my desk, etc

It's just not worth it. I only stick to single-player or co-op games now. They're much more enjoyable.
