FAQ
>What is /fast/?
Fast is a thread for the discussion of intermittent fasting, fasting, water fasting, and dry fasting.

>What’s the difference between intermittent fasting, water fasting, dry fasting, etc.?
>Intermittent fasting: Fasting for a certain amount of time with a short eating window. 16:8 (16 hours fasting, 8 hour eating window) is the bare minimum.
>Water fasting: Fasting with only water.
>Dry fasting: Fasting with no water. Dangerous, use with caution.

>Why should I fast?

Read all of these, they might answer some other questions you may want to ask.

>Can I fast if I have ___?
See your doctor before fasting if you:
>Have any sort of chronic illness
>Have gout
Don’t fast if you:
>Have type 1 diabetes
>Are malnourished/severely underweight
>Are pregnant
>Are breastfeeding

>How do I safely do an extended fast?
Take snake juice.
>2000mg of sodium (preferably Himalayan Pink Salt) max
>4700mg of saltless potassium max
>Mix these in a liter of water and sip it throughout the day.
The apple cider vinegar and lemon are optional.
You can also do this if you feel lightheaded, weak, dizzy, nauseous, etc., on shorter water fasts. Don’t do this while intermittent fasting.

>Won’t I go into starvation mode?
No. It only occurs at extremely low body fat (8-10%).

>Will (something with calories) break my fast?
Yes, headass.

>Can I drink coffee, tea, and diet soda? Or anything with artificial sweeteners?
Artificial sweeteners and diet soda are bad for you and may fuck up your fast. Zero calorie black coffee and tea ware generally considered to be fine.

>Do I need a multivitamin?
Not unless you’re fasting for a month or longer.

How come Cole never talks about whole-fat cow milk?

because it's breast milk or nothing

actual answers, anyone?

He does, he advocates raw cow's milk as one of the healthiest things you can drink. I'm on an OMAD GOMAD diet atm for IGF-1 gains.

>he advocates raw cow's milk
Where? I haven't seen it in any one of his videos, and every time he talks about diet and refeeds he never mentions milk
>OMAD GOMAD
That's exactly what I had in mind as well

Which fasting should I go for if I just want to extend my lifespan?

there are types of fasting?
news to me

Posting this paper again:

Would love to see some discussion on this.
>On day 4 and 5, all participants had a controllable feeling of thirst, but none showed any signs of dehydration. Interestingly, all participants described intervals of stamina and euphoria.
>Conclusion: The intervention of 5 FWD days
in 10 healthy adults was found to be safe, decreased weight and all measured circumferences, and improved renal function considerably.

It was in one of his hour long Q&A/rant sessions, can't remember which sorry. He was talking about someone who posted on his FB group about someone dying while fasting, which led into him talking about death rates for whooping cough, vaccines, chemo, then he brought up raw unpasteurized milk and ranted about how if one person drinks unpasteurized raw milk and gets sick they ban it all across the country.
Maybe you know which one I'm talking about. The OMAD GOMAD is great, feeling like a million bucks and don't even have to drink water I get it all from the milk. Only thing that sucks is here in Australia raw milk is banned so I'm just cheaping the cheap $1 AUD/litre woolies milk.

I dunno, that's why I'm asking. Thread started with
>Fast is a thread for the discussion of intermittent fasting, fasting, water fasting, and dry fasting.
So I'm assuming they all have different effects on the body else we would only be talking about "fasting".

Fasting is not eating. It has degrees of "aggression", where the highest will make you lose fat faster, and the lower will make it slower but easier if you're a pussy

From most aggressive to least aggressive it goes
>dry fasting
>snake-juice fasting
>intermittent fasting
Snake-juice fasting is easy enough and gives great results so go for that. Don't be scared of the weird name it's just fasting while drinking water with added salts

Reading this post I'm reminded that I used to think intermittent fasting was "hardcore". Kek.

156h water fast atm. I watched way too many food videos on youtube. Breaking on Monday.

Will eating one clove of garlic break my fast?

I remember a couple of videos of Cole's where he said you can take a clove or two if you're feeling dizzy

it's really best for you to just tough it out with the snake juice though if you're not actually physically or mentally feeling weak

156 hours, 181.8 lbs.
Yesterday I felt weak as shit. Was still able to do my typical low-volume daily lifting. It's not that my strength is actually diminished compared to the rest of the fast, but that my brain is just putting up a hard barrier and wanting me not to move around at all.

Attached: 20180916_day_6.jpg (1581x2489, 525K)

Could you post your body before starting the fast?

I mean your body from day 1 of the fast

You might need more salts if you're feeling weak. Especially sodium. Or more water with the same salts.

looking good btw

>break 5 day fast with pizza
>Get eternal sludge shits next morning
Don't ever do what I did lads

I want a pizza so bad

Can I suck benis on my fast? It would really help with the boredom of not eating.

Yes but you can't swallow, faggot

Facials it is. I'll have to do it in my imaginatoon since I can't get any benises at the moment.

>just finished my first keto week
>now trying my first omad week to then start 1 week water fast

so do I just eat all my calories in the span of one hour of the day?

>piss
>cures cancer and aids (which isnt real)
>breast milk
>hurr now only raw animal

People will still take this guy seriously

yes. preferably 2-4 hours before bed so you sleep easier and better

it's in the previous threads/archives. I've been updating daily.

Perhaps that's the case. Electrolyte imbalance symptoms are always so vague it's hard to tell exactly what's what without lab work. Guess it can't hurt to bump up the salts a little.

No you don't. The sauce tasted weirdly sweet, like it had artificial sweeteners added to it, and it was so devoid of nutrition. What you want, if you break a fast that's only a few days, is rare steak and some veg like kale or broccoli (after some bone broth of course). If you suddenly decide you're going to break your fast you can just pick these up at the store and not have to prep much (most of my food is in the freezer and takes a full 24hours to thaw, thus fast food seemed like a good idea at the time, also brain fatigue)

Has your doctor ever helped you with anything beyond the common cold? No wonder people are listening to him (unless you're not a proud resident of burgerland and have access to real medical care). Even a stopped clock is right twice a day, and he motivates me. I just ignore the rest

when I do it I have some of the best clean shits of my life and I usually have sludge shits on the reg, weird.

alright sounds easy enough

Keep in mind, without eating you are getting less sodium, potassium, magnesium.
Insulin is also responsible for holding on to salts. So if you have low insulin when for instance, fasting, then your body holds on to less.
If you are working out, you are using and losing more salts.

So are you getting enough, I mean are you getting any?

Anyone has this weird empty stomach anxiety?

Like I am at babby hour 40, and I have this anxiety of my stomach being empty. It's not even real hunger, I feel completely fine otherwise,. It's just I know that I haven't had anything in a while.

I've read a lot about fast and even did a 48 hour then a 72 hour fast a month ago, so I should already know better. But the feeling is still there.

youtube.com/watch?v=DOuekpLRE3k

What, in the blazes is that? I mean I see it, I'm just not believing it.

will i die if i put too much salt in muh snake juice

I'm not vegan

Depends on that "too much"
The current recipe has the salts very diluted anyways, you're safe unless you literally poured the entire carton of salt inside the bottle

too much sodium and your blood pressure will be a little higher and you'll be a little bloated from fluid retention.
too much potassium over a long period of time will eventually cause you to go hyperkalemic and possibly have arrhythmias. But the likelihood of that happening is very low simply because you'd need to either take a fucking ridiculous amount that I'm not sure your GI could even absorb all of, or you'd need to take high doses over a long period of time until it eventually builds up in the blood.

>sodium chloride is cheap as fuck
>sodium bicarbonate is even cheaper
>potassium chloride costs an arm and a leg for a small amount

fuck me, at least I got pure potassium chloride instead of shit meme diet salts that have sodium as well in them

Hey /fast/.
So I started fasting and doing OMAD since January in the hopes that it will help to heal my relationship with food. I became addicted to junk food for a while, and so I thought that through fasting, it would help "cure" me.
I've progressed leaps and bounds since I've first started, but I still occasionally completely binge and go all out on sweets and shit. How the hell do I stop being such a goddamn sugar addict? It sounds sick to say, but whenever I eat, I feel like I need to feel this feeling of being "stuffed to the brim", and I think that it is awful. I had another "cheat day" yesterday, and it got to the point where I went absolutely nuts and went out for a large ice-cream, and two sugary Starbucks drinks. By the end I was literally on my hands and knees completely spent by the insulin spike. Like, why the fuck do I have to torture myself like that? I literally could have done anything, like read, play vidya, watch a movie, but instead I went out and acted like a damn pig.
And yes, I have completed a few three-day fasts before. I've re-watched Cole's videos to get me motivated to start again, but I just wanted to hear your guy's two cents on it.

unironically it just takes pure willpower
there is no clutch or magic word, try implementing a cheat day once a month or week and plan it, not just wake up a day and decide to binge

I usually do a cheat day once a week and I know that I shouldn't worry too much about it, since it's just one day out of the week, and will probably do little damage to me, but I feel like I should be better than that. Maybe you're right, I should just stop being a bitch and just fucking do it.

I had some craving for food then I meditated and it was gone

wtf

you are now a step closer to enlightenment user

whats the next step...

that is beyond my knowledge young user, meditate more, awake your true inner self, let go of all inner precognitions you may have and maybe you'll know if you are in the right path

Thank you user I will meditate more

I have a slight cold, will fasting help?

Did you really meditate or "meditate"?

youtube.com/watch?v=7qnmaD6Kl1g
May this help you in the future.

Would it be absolutely batshit crazy of me not to eat during a 3 day military exercise?

Or am i going to die?

Attached: 1527478858195.jpg (500x491, 26K)

depends on how used to it you are, and how much you're actually on foot and under load

had a nice controlled omad after a 48, yesterday i was about to binge and fuck it up

another small step towards a better relationship with food

Hey /fast/
I'm skinny fat and off gym since a couple of months ago. Today is my first day of minimum three days fasting but I still thinking which method is better for me, should I get back to gym and eat keto OMAD and enjoy some gains while losing weight or should I do prolonged fasting and stop only when I turn into skeleton?

Attached: Oharachan.png (300x257, 116K)

I'm also skinny fat and tomorrow i'm starting Keto + OMAD, I was going to do a dry fast today to kick me into ketosis but I had a shitty sleep so I woke up with a strong headache.

My guys I want to do a 72 hours fast with snake juice to start and try it out, but my big question is should I lift at all during that time?

Fuck me working out on a 38~ hour fast left me half dead. not sure if just laying around replenished my life force or the dose of electrolytes but shit.

I'm sorry to hear that user. Dry fast must be hard that's why I chose WF with snake juice.
Yesterday at 9PM was my last meal (steak, eggs and green) and strangely I felt a mild headache (like keto flu) on 4AM. I had a shitty sleep too but I drank black coffee in the morning so I'm fine.

Attached: oharachan2.jpg (1280x720, 96K)

Can I do a 48 hr water fast? Let's find out.
Probably wasn't a good idea to binge amphetamines before doing this.

Doing Keto+OMAD right now, 14 days in.
I eased into it slowly with 2MAD the first 4-5 days. First time doing Keto.

Benefits so far are steady energy, almost no hunger, shits have been amazing, sleep well.
Never got the Keto flu, but I got weird rashes on the insides or my elbows and chest one day that disappeared next day.

I'm just about to hit 38 hours too, came back from a hour of shooting hoops and felt like shit until I got some snake juice in. I figured I'd be fine without sipping before hand and it really fucked me up.

based keto+omad, throw in nofap and you'll be powerful enough to stop the jes

I’ve been slacking like hell. A new job and a couple of weekends with my parents. At least my weight stayed stable.
Time to go again. I just want rid of another ten kilos.

I’ve tried the snake diet twice but I can never make it past the third day of fasting without feeling like a methhead going through detox. What do I do?

Don’t go past 3 days? Do 3, skip a day and do three more.

What is your goal? Weight loss? Just go 48 with a very small low carb refeed and repeat that until you are not fat.

Stop eating.

might suck but you're not going to die

good news everyone, i've literally regenerated my kidneys and it appears i'm not going to die anytime soon

hope all is well

Attached: 5096171296_d280b43e89_b.jpg (820x1024, 428K)

refeed on raw eggs and meat?

So who else is playing shadow of the tomb raider now? It's not better than 2 so far but at least it's not mass effect 3 tier bad yet. They wasted too much of the game on the ethnic localities and culture crap, there's way less action this time and the locations don't look as good or are as fun too explore. 2 was all around great, hope the last half of this game really delivers.

Woah finally an og tripfag returns. How did your kidneys regenerate? If I remember right, you said it was caused due to a lifetime of bad eating habits. I can't imagine that fucking your kidneys over badly but I'm glad you made it.

DAAAAA SAMONELLA DIES IN STOMACH ACID

DAAAAA I SHIT SO EASILY WHEN I EAT CHEAP FATTY BEEF CUTS

trips of truth

yeah I have no clue to be honest what the fuck was going on. they told me it wasn't an infection, but it somehow resolved itself while i was eating pretty much a standard american diet, just less salty

i still have like little pains in my kidney when I am dehydrated but I don't have cloudy or bloody urine anymore, even after eating a steak or something

so I'm hoping to lose 20lbs and get back down to 136 like the good old days, aka 6 months ago.... time flies :)

What suppresses appetite?

willpower, and methamphetamine

So Lemon Juice has no calories or something?

caffeine

loved it

so you actually did it huh
you are definetely more defined user
are you on snek juice?
i on the other hand increased my fasting to 3 days and tomorrow @ midday i break my fast with this soup

i also started getting stuff for the snek juice

Attached: 20180916_183249.jpg (3264x1836, 1.86M)

start with keto

Whenever I try to make Cole’s new snake juice recipe I always seem to have salt leftover in my cup and usually feel like ass and blackout for a few seconds on my 3-4th day. Any solutions?

dont you move the snek juice before drinking? Also how long you been fasting?

>Any solutions

It should be a solution already...heh...

I'm consuming 1-2 tsp of NaCl and 1-1.5 tsp of KCl daily. Not doing any of the vinegar, bicarb, lemon juice, or any of that stuff. I'm also taking a Zn/Mg/Ca supplement once a day too, just to be on the safe side.

Leaning toward breaking the fast either tomorrow or tuesday. Got two roasted chicken carcasses in the freezer I can use to make a nice thick stock for soup. After that not sure what I'll eat. Definitely going to crack open a coconut that's been sitting around and drink the water, maybe eat the meat. Maybe I'll thaw some ground beef and have hamburgers. It all really depends on what happens when I drink the soup and whether that makes me feel weird and/or gives me the shits or anything.

Later this week I'm definitely cooking duck, the most underrated of poultry.

>the most underrated of poultry

isn't duck fat considered some kinda delicacy

If it's not it should be. I save every last bit of the rendered fat and freeze it to use later, similar to butter. Here in burgerland most people never eat duck unless they go to a chinese restaurant, maybe. It's chicken 99.9% of the time and then turkey on thanksgiving, that's it.

What was your starting weight again? I forget. This is making me consider another prolonged fast, but I'm trying to gain weight. Btw, do you measure lean body mass? Last 108-hr fast I did I lost about 2lbs lbm. Most likely water and glycogen I think. Made my lifts stall too.

Attached: sister's shorts lel.jpg (1547x2082, 391K)

i've been fasting 3 days and i just took a shit
how's it even possible

IIRC 194.5lbs the first morning, 12 hours after last meal.
I cannot recommend prolonged fasting until after I return to baseline and see where my strength is. That'll take about a week after breaking the fast to figure out.

I'm also curious how much water weight will bounce back. It's hard to tell with all the salt I'm eating.
Also
>sister's shorts

The plurality of stool is dead bacteria (~30%). Another 30% from fiber. And the rest is a mix of minerals like cal-phos as well as fat and cholesterol. I'm not aware of the biochemical changes that may occur during a fast, but normally your body secretes bile acid, which is a mixture of cholesterol, bile acid (a cholesterol derivative), lipids, and stuff like that.

So basically even if you're not eating anything at all, there's still stuff like gut flora and bile being shat out.

What does it mean when your regular water tastes sweet?

Is that a sign you're about to run out of electrolytes? Because at the gym today my water tasted vaguely sweet and then after the gym I felt like I was almost dead/nauseous till I got some in me.

how long into the fast? feeling like dying is one of the symtoms of sugar or glucose withdrawal. it happens when one is starting to fast

I've been keto for 2 weeks now (and no candy + low calorie for 2 weeks before that) so I doubt that's it. it was about 40 hours into my fasting. previously my longest fast was only 24~ hours. I'm not that hungry this time so I'm pushing to 48 and then refeeding because I have some broccoli and sausages I need to eat before they go bad.

Personally I find everything to be super sweet even when it's not. Like my coffee and green tea, and the first /sip/ of saltwater in the morning even strangely tastes good. My theory is that our tastebuds are so deadened by all the normal super-sweetened food around us that it blocks out all the other flavors.

Will I be able to build muscle and lose fat at the same time If I eat high amounts of protein on my lifting days and fast on my rest days? I do full body workout at the gym 3 times a week. rest days are in between and i fast during them. Is this retarded will I just lose muscle mass and become skinnyfat?

i've thought about this but i think it's just faster and more time efficient to do one at the same time. in theory it should work well

if you're going to do it, id like to hear your results
