Has anyone here done ivysaurs beginner routine. Switched from SLs to this but it has been rough so far.
Thought on the routine?

The rate of increase is a little ridiculous, even for a new lifter
How long have you been doing it?
Made by a Redditor who never posted body and has since been removed from Reddit. What does that tell you?
The trick to this program is to start much lower than you think so you can build up that techinque with lotsa good reps. Good program but too agressive intensity
I'm doing it. I've managed to put 30 lbs on bench in 3 months. I dont go up by 10lb every week tho if I feel the weight is heavy, I do 5. Solid program tbqh.
yeah the rate of increase in pretty ridiculous so I've slowed down the increases to a rate where I'm being challenged but still increasing weight gradually.
I did SLs for 3 months before starting this. Just started it last week.
To be fair I did SS for about 9 months 3 years ago before I got cucked by a never-ending, soul sucking job. I like the volume this offers sand the fact that I can bench and deadlift more
Heavy OHP after heavy bench... what did he mean by this?
Why ridiculous since its weekly?
Rippetoe and Mehdi's bodies aren't really impressive but everybody here advocates one or the other
You never do heavy bench and ohp on the same day retard re read the routine.
SLs you increase weight each time you do a workout. You're telling me to go up 15lbs on a deadlift for week A where you only deadlift once?
In reality, you only increase the weights once you do the 4x8 set because you're using 90% of your previous weight (which is the same weight you did 4x4)
doing it right now, and i feel like it scales very poorly as you go from beginner to early intermediate numbers. both the rates and the 8 rep weight (probably needs to be dropped to 80% of your 4 rep weight) are fucking insane later on. you'll also need to add in bicep curls since the chinups (or the 30 degree rows if you can't do chins) aren't enough for good bicep growth.
all of that being said, i'm still seeing good results from the program.

I've had to drop squat and dlx8 to 85%. What weight did you hit on bench before you had to go down to 80%?
I've been doing it for 7 weeks now and now lift more than I did years ago. I've started adding curls because I feel my biceps aren't getting much bigger.
Yes. Every two weeks for a beginner? Sure. Then every month for an intermediate lifter I think would work
admittedly i haven't had to drop anything just yet, but i almost certainly will in the next month or two. i imagine that i'll have to bring it down to at least 85% once i hit 180 (currently floating around 155-160 for my 4 rep sets and noticing some difficulty on the 8 rep sets).
This program is like a garbage version of the bridge
I have done one week of this so far, enjoyed it. I'm going to run it till at least the end of the year (15 weeks or so)
Like others have mentioned
A) Lifting 8 reps at 90% of 4 rep rate is a bit ridiculous
B) That progression rate is also ridiculous
>4x8 deadlifts
