any tips/video on how to properly perform a snatch grip high pull?
sometimes I feel my traps burning like hell, others it's like I'm hitting my delts.

I follow him on ig and think he's one of the only people in the PT world who puts out good content

it's just like a snatch except you don't pull under, just pull to neck

I guess a critical component is not using arm pull before you finish extension

So cute :)

am I the only one who thinks Koha is unattractive

Yes

Can I wear compression socks in competition?

But my ig is on private

Is that a jojos reference

My dudes, what advice do you have for a noob who wants to go into oly training? I'm 179cm 75kg manlet, 5 months lifting and I finally did 2pl 3x5 squat yesterday. I also have good explosive power which is needed for wl afaik. My plan is to focus on ohp squat and dl until summer then join an oly/powerlifting club in my city. Other exercises I should do? Good routines for mobility? Any recommendations appreciated.

That text is beyond retarded but shes qt. Can someone drop a name??

Keep your elbows up and over the bar as much as possible. Keep the bar close.

Get a coach.

is this normal? I remember I got from somewhere you should hit the bar on your thighs instead of hip area like in a hip thrust

cal strength vids on progressions from youtube (glenn pendlay narrating)

learn the snatch first. just do 4-5 sets of 4-5 reps at weights you feel you can move comfortably for 5-6 reps of whatever progression you're on.

(1) high hang powers 'til you get that down, may be one session, may be many sessions.
(2) then do a set of high hang powers followed by low hang powers until they feel smooth, however many sessions.
(3) then once those look good, one set of high hang, one set of low hang, then sets from the floor (bumpers or prop the bar up with blocks or aerobic steps or whatever, paint cans under the barbell ends worked good in my garage).
(4) once those look good, hh + lh + powers + ride them down into deep overhead squats on each rep and then do classic snatch full movements for the final set.

above is how medvedyev would have taught 16-year-olds in four sessions in one week.

next, learn the jerk, from the rack. push jerks first, powers later. keep snatching every session, 4-5 sets of 4-5 reps at fairly trivial weights that you absolutely know you can do 5-6 reps or more of, same progressions as the (4) above. while you're learning the jerk, do front squats. again, trivial weights 4-5 sets of 4-5 reps and keep them moving fast.

next, learn the clean. same steps as the snatch. clean every day and snatch a couple of days and jerk another couple of days.

finally, put the clean and jerk together. this would be the fourth week of a medvedyev teenager beginner progression. snatch twice a week, clean and jerk twice a week, three squats a week (either two back and one front or simply alternate), and 2-3 pressing sessions a week (bench and overhead), four sessions a week and four weeks laid out, you'd learn the back squat and the presses in week one, all the time focusing on form and using 4-5 sets of 4-5 crisp, fast reps. adopt this to your current situation.

Yea, its a bruise. They get worse after you get past 1 plate

is she a good girl or will she want to start fucking other guys after being with one guy since high school?

expanding a bit in the essence of training beginners.

medvedyev's kids would be limited in terms of weights used for the first three months or so, based on the 4-5x4-5 with "room to spare," with a bit of a deload and then a student competition in order to set training maxes, which could then be used for a percentage-based program. there would be these types of mock competitions, or actual competitions, probably 5-7 times in a year. you could think of this as running macrocycles of one 4-week prep cycle and another 4-week comp cycle and then a competition and then a few days to a week off, and then starting again. (barring breaks for pascha, summer, and christmas, when the kids still in school would do gpp most days of the week and only lift once a week)

expanding a bit more in terms of training for weightlifting.

the soviet-slash-russian-slash-cuban-slash-etc method is a lot of volume and not a lot of intensity. "working reps" which means anything 60% (50% for the squats) over max, when averaged, average to about 71% of max, and there are only a handful of reps each week at 90% or higher in the classic lifts (squats will be over 100% of the clean limit but similarly there won't be many squats which are over 90% of the best squat weight). also short rest times (2-5 min) if you're used to rippetoe-style bullshit of 8-10 min. which leads to another, and probably the MOST important point of this style of training.

DO NOT GRIND LIFTS. EVER.

EVERY SET IS DONE WITH REPS IN RESERVE. LOTS OF THEM, SOMETIMES.

seriously like your sets of 5 are done with a 10rm, you never do more than a double with 80% or higher weights, you never do more than a single with 90% or higher weights, and you will only do a handful of reps with near-limit weights in a training month. your squats will all be fast and crisp reps and you'll be training for POWER and not for grinding out reps.

Guys give me a tip regarding snatch contact point. I cant seem to get it right, either I’ll hit my hip bones or the bone right above penor. Is my grip too wide or too narrow?

a bit more expansion in the difference between the typical "russian" approach to training for strength and a typical "american" approach as per people like rippetoe et al.

russian beginners started with comfortable sets of 4-5 reps at weights they could move fast with reps in reserve. when they got a max from a competition, and then based on that max they did a shit-ton of volume in sets of 1-5 reps and did every set, except for a handful of reps a month on one or two occasions, with plenty of reps in reserve. what's a shit-ton of volume? we're talking about class iii lifters doing 340 reps of squats in a month, which is 85 reps a week, which is more reps than a 5x5 on every fucking squat session. but they're all done fast and sharp and with good form.

ripp on the other hand starts you at 3x5 and by the time your progression gets very far, you are barely able to finish your third set of five and even your first set is kinda grindy and slow on the final reps. even if you count the last warmup or two as "working volume," which you should, because they're likely above 60% of a projected max, we're still dealing with only about 60 reps a week, and probably half those reps are slow and awkward and with significant form deterioration.

ripp would have you do 3x5 at around 80-85% with minimal buildup, or 5x5 at 75% or so with minimal buildup, again with a lot of those reps straining and ugly, and with 8-10 minutes between sets.

the russians if doing work at 80-85% would be doing doubles, nice and crisp and clean, and several sets of them, after having built up by doing work in the 60-70% range in many sets of 3-5 crisp fast reps, and at the end of the session, the russians would have done 20-30% more reps and more tonnage and would have done all of those reps in good form, with limited rest (ergo better conditioning), and all the time training POWER rather than grinding top end strength.

which in a nutshell is one of the reasons why americans who train in traditionally american ways tend to suck at weightlifting.

you can see that sheiko is obviously derivative of soviet weightlifting methods, which fits his history.

you can also see that louie simmons of westside probably never ever even read any soviet weightlifting texts, or if he did, he certainly did not have any fucking clue or understanding about them whatsoever, because his methods nave NOTHING to do with soviet weightlifting training.

if there's anything american that is close in spirit to soviet methods of training for strength, it is unironically RTS (reactive training systems) or newer stuff like BBM (barbell medicine eg the bridge etc), stuff that combines lots of volume, reps in reserve, and fairly frequent work above 80% with occasional forays into 90% and infrequent rare tests of maximal strength, which are the only sets that ever are allowed to grind.

it's very sim

stand up straight with feet under your shoulders and grasp the bar. bend your knees and hips just a bit to find that crease between your thighs and hips. adjust your grip so that when you stand up straight, the bar is there.

that's your starting point. you adjust based on what works for you best off of that point.

make a meme outta this pls.

what shoes are those

looks like some raff simons rip-offs

lel he featured your post in one of his stories

don't smash the bar
contact != smash

>DO NOT GRIND LIFTS. EVER

this is probably the most important aspect of wl training, arguably even for advanced lifters

How can I avoid fucking my shit up? It doesn’t hurt to move my arm around but I’m worried about getting a proper injury
