I'm on overweight 27 year old male and I'm logging calories religiously to lose weight. I've stuck to 2,000 a day for a while now, and it's working, but I feel ravenously hungry almost all of the time. To the point where I feel like I'm not even thinking straight some days. Do you think upping it to 2,500 calories per day is reasonable? I've read that people who are obese have a higher base metabolic rate but I'm not sure how strong that effect is.

Calories in calories out user. Make sure you exercise a bit more if you bump your calorie intake up to 2,500.

Try getting a Bike. Its easier on the joints and good exercise. I love going for nice bike rides.

Are you hydrating enough? Water can help you feel full, and being dehydrated can lead to a confusing feeling of being "hungry" when your body actually just wants water.

Just drink like 3 full glasses of water whenever you feel hungry

Stay the course boy. What are you eating? Drink lots of water as your body actually spends a lot of calories processing it and you can fill your stomach with it to dull hunger pains. You could also try doing something like grazing on raw broccoli, it’s almost impossible to gain weight doing it and it takes up a lot of mass in your stomach so you will feel stuffed quickly. Meat is good because it is satiating and though fat is high in calories it is also very filling. Avoid carbs, you don’t need to go full Keto but they won’t make the hunger go away without excessive consumption. These tactics can deal with the worst aspects of hunger but you will still have cravings. Just endure, they will go away in time. Sacrifice short term gratification for long term satisfaction. We’re all gonna make it brah.

Here's something no one talks about, if you want to lose weight and keep it off that hunger will be your life from now on.
I went from 280 to 160 and I've been eating at maintenance for over a year, just staying at 160 takes an unbelievable amount of willpower, l'm hungry all the time even when I've just eaten, all I ever think about is my next meal.

I drink diet Coke like crazy but I'm guessing that's not really the same. I probably only drink 32 ounces of plain water a day so I'll work on that.

About the other replies, I do think I'll start becoming more physically active. I really need to find something convenient that I enjoy though, my fat fuck nature is strong.

Have smaller meals. Your stomach has probably expanded from you previously gorging yourself, it needs time to contract.

I was looking forward to eating at maintenance when I hit my goal weight because I thought I wouldn't be so hungry all the time but the hunger is still as bad as when I was at a 500 cal/day deficit.

Cut out all sugary tasting foods except for MINOR amounts of things like honey or peanut butter. Eat MULTIPLE servings of vegetables a day HIGH in fiber. 2+ scoops a day with high fat milk and 0.85g/lb protein MINIMUM for cut. If you continue to feel hungry youre fucked for life.

Get more low glycemic carbs. Makes a WORLD of difference. The energy burns slower and last longer.

You are probably eating the wrong stuff. I went from stuffing myself full with garbage to a 1000 kcal deficit. I ate lots of protein, huge servings of vegetables and moderate portions of unrefined carbs and I surprisingly was never hungry. I also would recommend not eating between meal times and having the same number of calories per meal. Be as regular as you can with your meal timing and portion size.
