>grew up in a Christian household >went to church a lot >after confirmation I just kinda fell from faith >super unhappy about it >something in my life is missing >become agnostic >moral relativism >extremely unhappy with that life philosophy >everything is more or less the same, nazis aren't bad people, communists weren't, even murder isn't off limits >everyone is just a byproduct of their surroundings >god truly is dead >unironically get into jbp >he helps me recognize the value of my religion again >drop peterson again but remain "religious" >go to church again >feel so much better and in sync with myself >still wouldn't call myself religious >don't know what to answer when people ask me whether I believe in god
Go and see if there's a young adults group or something to connect with people from your church and talk to them you'll grow in your faith with christian fellowship and guidance, iron sharpens iron.
Christopher Richardson
Shit, that's almost exactly what happened with me. How old are you?
I'd recommend some apologetics material. If you don't actually believe in God it will be tough to be a Christian. Luckily there are pretty good arguments >cosmological argument >fine tuning argument >historicity of the New Testament Those were the big three for me
Caleb Wilson
Idk if i can start believing in god because of "rational arguments" I always thought I'd know when I feel it But "god" is such a big and abstract argument I struggle to grasp it
Kevin Gomez
Become Orthodox and find a spiritual father, they help with this sort of thing.
David Allen
I'm Lutheran Idk I think this idea of converting to another religion/denomination is so weird To me it's something you're given A part of your culture that you're supposed to integrate into your identity I don't wanna throw that away
Matthew Fisher
Understandable, speak to your pastor instead.
Lucas Myers
If you dont believe in God, God doesnt want you to believe in him
Jaxson Brooks
Don't listen to this guy OP. Determinism isn't true.
Op maybe your religiosity will come naturally Just do what feels right If it's going to church Just do that
Jace Adams
>everything is more or less the same, nazis aren't bad people, communists weren't, even murder isn't off limits >everyone is just a byproduct of their surroundings
>implying this isn't true
Jeremiah Scott
>when you go to church as a devout Christian Catholic but in reality you read esoteric books on alchemy and gnosticism by Jung and study Hindu mythology.
Ryder Torres
I literally went to one of his lectures but the audience turned me off so much I just stopped following/watching him altogether.
Henry Diaz
Who were they? Oreganio
Jace Thomas
Christianity is a dumb religion full of flaws.
Joseph Carter
It was the lecture in Louisville I just hated the dynamics between peterson and the audience They were just cheering at everything he said he was telling them how they're such independent thinkers They were circle jerking each other off Like I still admore him But this experience really pushed me away from that "movement"
Luis Bell
Guys? Chicks? How'd they look like?
Nolan Bailey
Do acid. Not even memeing. That will answer whatever questions you have.
Adrian Adams
It was mostly guys But a lot of girls too (the girlfriends of the guys who came) They looks very average Some looked like those weird nazis in Charlottesville At least that was my association One guy sitting in front of me had a black and whistle picture of Donald trump as his screensaver
Samuel Thomas
I can totally respect Lutheran Protestantism, but what I like about my church and what you don't have is small tokens of faith Unironically buy a rosary It's very meditative and it's a nice reminder of who you are and who you want to be
