Are there any runners on Jow Forums? I'm starting my weight loss journey today. I went for a 700m run. It took six minutes but it feels good to get out there and hit the pavement. I feel like a fitness Goddess. I bet once I lose the weight I'll be able to run faster. How long does it take you to run 700m?

700m is nice for a start but if you want real progress, run slower but for 30 minutes straight. With time increase the length of your run within the same time interval. Eventually, you'll improve and feel even better.
I started out with 10 min mile jogs. I would do 10 min jogs with 10 min walks. Then after a couple of weeks I started to push how quickly I could do a mile. Got down to about 8 min. One day I get great and was able to string two 8-minute miles together. It’s been about 4 months and I can string three 8-min miles together. Or one 6-min mile. I want to string three 6-min miles together eventually. Maybe by the end of the year.

Running is about pushing yourself. You can do it. Just be consistent. It's going to be hard but that there runners high is an otherworldly feel.
I started doing cardio in July and I'm glad I started. I'm asthmatic and it takes me about 10 minutes to run a mile on a treadmill. Shit sucks but some people can't even do that.

Not saying there is anything wrong with running. It's really fun and it makes you feel amazing. But if weight loss is your goal consider jumping rope instead?
diet should always be the goal. exercise is just supplemental burning of calories.

My progress went from fat sweaty neet to 6 pack went like this.

Best is to do a fixed walk/run cycle, say like 8 min walk, 2 min run and slowly change the ratio. Once you get to about 5 min walk, 5 min jog, start increasing distance, no greater than 10% per week.

9 miles a week is close to nothing. You need to run more and fix your diet. You burn about 100 calories per mile run no matter how fast you go. 900 calories a week is like 1 meal.
Everyone should find a program and run slower.
