Is it even worth training the side delts as a natural. They're a small muscle with not much functional use. And hard to grow as a natty.
>tfw no capped delts

yes train them, they aesthetic, for me they grow the best at a 12-15 rep range
avoid training traps though by using strict form
Lateral raises every day (NON-NEGOTIABLE)
Quit being a bitch and actually train them. You haven’t worked them hard enough if you haven’t noticed any growth. Or do some research on a shoulder routine and quit looking for an easy way out
What exersices you reccomend? (other than the obvious lateral raises)
yes, train them. They're not hard to grow as a natty. You'll never get that massive round, cannonball look to your shoulders as a natty though. But you can still build shoulders that look impressive as hell to people who don't lift
LANDMINE LATERAL RAISE
This is actually correct. High volume, high frequency babbyweight lateral raises builds lateral delts.
Are these good?
just do your lateral raises and klokov press
more lateral raises. vary them. do them with a cable machine, do them laying down. do them heavy with one arm at a time while leaning to the side and holding onto something, do them starting from behind your back, do them starting from in front of your body, vary your rep ranges, use heavier weights and do drop sets, use light weights for high reps. There are so many different variations to the standard side lateral raise that you should never get bored of doing them
You can also get some secondary activation doing things like upright rows, and by taking a wider grip on overhead press with your arms flared out. You can try out power/muscle/hang versions of the oly lifts too. But nothing will hit them like side laterals do
>hard to grow natty
Just check out Mike Chang’s shoulder routine, it works wonders
Hhahah is this real
Anyone ever try this exersice. How is it?
Science has proven that band facepulls are the best exercise for lateral delts
Seems to be
I use this exersice. Enjoy it helps my remove my traps from the equation. Amd my shoulders feel a lot better from doing them.
Is it normal that I can use 3-4 times more weight on these than on lateral raises?
Yes but thats because it isnt only using the shoulders
I am able to do more weight than my lateral raises but 3x-4x? Make a conscious effort not to use the traps and bring your arms all the way to your armpits.
>They're a small muscle with not much functional use
You are either NEET or a corpo-drone.
How the fuck do you not use your side delts?
Yes. At the top of a lateral raise the dumbell is an arms length out from your shoulder joint, while with that excercise the dumbell goes straight up and is kept close to the body, and you are able to use the elbow flexors (biceps, brachialis, etc) to pull as well. It's like a pullover vs a row. Both hit lats but one is a pulling compound with more favorable mechanics, the other completely isolates the lats. Of course you can move significantly more weight.
I hardly ever did delts isolation in the last years. Thought bp, mp, rows etc will do. Result: big back, chest, no delts.
The last half year i did many varieties of lateral raises. I do them 2x per week. 1x heavy, up to 25kg barbells for like 5-6 clean reps. 1x very light, with up to 10kg for 20-30 reps. High volume. Like 6 worksets minimum.
this 2x per week every set to failure
dont be an idiot. train side delts, add to the v taper aesthetic. High volume side raises, klokov press (or most wide grip presses), upright row (for variety) and ahrens press (similar to dumbbell press but press sideways and out not straight up)
What are the best exercises for rotator cuff recovery?
>pls no Jeff memes
Alright i need your boys opinion. I'm a pretty bsuy dude and do full body three times a week. I usually don't have time for a lot of assistance work but get some done should i focus more on assistance work for Biceps/Triceps or Lateral/Rear delts
How were your arms?
*sound of rotator cuff snapping
>”What did you just do user? (BIG MISTAKE)”
>he upright rowed?
>impinge them
>Taking advice from a guy that recommends towel rows
Side raises suck with dumbells
Use cables
But honestly youre better off just focusing on facepulls with a band. Healthier movement for shoulders and strengthens your rotators and hits side delts fine
Yes train them, and do your face pulls too. N O N - N E G O T I A B L E
not really hard to grow them if you hit shoulders everyday.
Do bent over lateral raises. Heavy weight.
>No functional use
Why the fuck are you even lifting if everything has to have a functional use? It's for looking good, bro
They're used if you perform some form of manual labor
But I doubt that you do so if you don't want to train them don't train them
Bump if someone could help me out
If you're doing stronglifts you can hit your bi's harder during bent over rows if you underhand grip which means you have time for the delts assistance.
Tldr change grip, add delts
wtf is wrong with his right bicep
wow. I wanted to target all of these muscles. Thanks for the heatmap.
jeff demo'd these in one of his videos. Rotator cuff saved.
They have carryover to ohp and bench and they look fucking awesome
If you’re not doing egyptian lateral raises you’re missing out
>leaning into it allows you to take all the trap out of it
>cable means constant tension
Just do it
nvm. I'm wrong.
i was thinking "hip huggers"
Is that a dork row? I used to do these in high school, good excercise
pants puller
Underrated
Dropset the fucking shit out of em
huh done this for years, just thought it was a good idea based off basic isolation and mechanics knowledge and never seen anyone else do it. didn’t realise it was a thing
Improves your physique massively
lateral delts are the only muscle i consistently train purely for aesthetics.
it's also the only exercise i much prefer a machine for.
what said. 15 on first set, then 12 for the rest. all to failure.
OHP, Bench and pushups are literally all it is needed for decent shoulders, why the fuck are you all doing 5000 exercises for them.
all of those exercises hit anterior delts which is why they don't usually require isolation. we're talking about lateral delts though.
WHY
DONT
PEOPLE
TRAIN
THEIR
TRAPS
Because traps are gay.
Lateral delts stabilize the shoulder when benching and ohping which is their main function I think, but i still do 3x20 lat delts for the pump at least.
Hahaha yeah everyone tells me that
I've started working on them
because traps that run from your shouldesr to your ears are ugly as fuck
traps are back muscles you're not suppose to look retartded from the front
Can, or should I just do 4x12 lateral raises every day after every workout?
I actually enjoy the exercise.
most fags don't know how to train shoulders , you need to super set and burn them , they are like legs and calve , you cant just do 100kg 8 reps and call it a day. you need to leave the gym crying , if you can still lift your arm after shoulder day you didnt do a good job
Big traps are aesthetic as fuck
WHY DON'T DYELS REALISE YOU CAN'T FLEX LATS AND TRAPS AT THE SAME TIME
>shoulder day
Just do A LOT lateral raises, 12-15 reps. 3 times per week.
Well since I've lost 40lbs it's kinda ironic I'm doing these
Want to look big in a shirt? have traps. You dont need huge traps. But a natty with big traps is aesthetic as fuck
>tfw you snap your shit going too heavy on towel rows
>barbell lateral raises
Traps r gay
I see all this debate about side delts this and traps that... the truth is you only have to train rear delts to look HUGE, YOKED, fucking JACKED
pic related is me, see how huge, how thick I look from the back? all rear delts baby, all rear delts. I actually made a video on my channel about this, check it out
youtube.com
did I mention I trained with Eric, and am capable of pulling almost 550 conventional at 240 (with a belt and straps) after *only* 15 years of training? alright peace out you twink reardeltlets haha
