The advantage of the Keto diet isn't in the actual ketosis effect which is unhealthy. What it does is passively make fat people pass on the majority of carbs they encounter in their daily lives (cereal, rice, pasta, etc.) so that when they inevitably DO end up eating carbs it is a rare occasion such as in a restaurant or a special meal.

If you are into fitness and can genuinely manage your diet independent of your cravings you don't need keto. If you're a fat guy who believes in keto and said belief leads to you eating less in the long run then yes keto works for you.

Normal vegetable sources are mostly fine. Keto is good for resetting insulin resistance after having a shit diet of refined carbs.

eating carbs without fat doesn't make you overeat and doesn't induce insulin resistance, so you won't get fat.

Keto literally causes insulin resistance. Your brain needs glucose to function, so your tissues become insulin resistant so the glucose in your blood doesn't go into those tissues and stays in the bloodstream to be sent to the brain.

most of this is true except for ketosis being unhealthy. Intermitent fasting is proved to be very good for your health and most of what it does is induce an even deeper state of ketosis than just eating keto.
I agree that you don't need keto if you can manage cravings, keto just makes it easier.

glucose sparing is not the same as pathalogical insulin resistance.
keto causes the former and cures the latter.

Keto'ers tend to not have blood sugar/insulin problems because they eat so little carbs. Keto doesn't fix the problem of why your body can't handle carbs.. its just avoiding the symptoms. Fix the problem instead of just working around it.

Eating keto on a 500 calorie surplus helped me gain 15lbs of LBM and while this may be due to other factors, my penis grew 3 inches. I also seem to have gotten half an inch taller but that’s probably just posture.

I worded that poorly, the point I meant to make was that how most newbs attempt to induce ketosis is unhealthy. In and of itself it is just fine.

I gave low carb (essentially keto) and zero carb a fair try.. I slept like shit, lifts went down and sex drive went down. Throwing in carbs and essentially carb cycling (eating carbs on work out days.. and around 100 grams on non workout days) I found works best for me.

insulin resistant/obese/diabetic people have impaired metabolism of both glucose and fatty acids.
keto fixes FA metabolism, which fixes all negative downstream effects (like non-alcoholic fatty liver disease).
if someone would then go back to a carb-heavy (non junk-food) diet, they would become insulin sensitive and stay healthy.
dietary carbs aren't needed for anything though, so avoiding them is fine.
