How important is sleep?

Fuck, guys.
I'm 19 and I feel absolutely robbed of sleep, being able to count on one hand the nights I've felt "well-rested" since turning 12. This, especially since hearing only recently that sleep might be incredibly important in forming a healthy, well-rounded body and mind.
Am I fucked, guys, or can I somehow make it by getting lots of sleep each night from here on out?

What the fuck is wrong with kids nowadays? When I was growing up it was so fucking easy to get a good night of sleep. Phones are computers are really fucking you guys over. Sleeping is essential for BRAIN & MUSCLES development. Stop playing on your phone before sleeping, eat more magnesium rich foods.

And how come people in Japan have strict food diets and can get wholesome meals wherever they go but in America you might as well be straight fucked in some situations? I mean I know it isn't that hard to find a healthy meal but everywhere in Japan there's shit like organ meats and pickled foods and soda-less and bread-less restaurants.

Yeah, sleep is a magic ingredient. Get as much as you can.

The upper limit for caffeine is about 400mg/day. As an EZ-rule of thumb, just call that 4 caffeinated drinks a day, max. "Energy drinks" count x2. Or so, I dunno, search that yourself if you drink any XXXTREME stuff (and stop).

Also, Magnesium can help, and there's some research suggesting a magnesium deficiency can be an important factor in depression. Buy you some magnesium glycinate (best form, but a little harder to find). Aim for 15000-2000mg a day. The tablets are usually 400mg each, so aim for 4 total daily. And definitely one just before sleeptime.

Maybe some Melatonin too, just before bed.

Get a sleep mask or whatever you need to do (shirt over your head?) to block the light out. Sleep is srsbusiness so make it a priority.

You're like a whole different person when fully rested; it's pretty rad.

You are right about the magnesium. If you drink a fair amount of caffeine you are most likely magnesium deficient. I buy magnesium powder and drink it before bed and sleep like a rock.

So you're sleeping around 6 hrs a night; that's not too bad. But 8 would be better. Can you maybe extend either/both of your sleeping times by an extra hour? That might do you some good.

Bro fuck that, try going to gym after work, youll feel drained as fuck for the first week or 2 but once your body gets into it you can enjoy sleeping 9pm till 6am. Gotta set that routine up
