i'm 6'1 180 lbs
i can do chin ups with 90 lbs added and i can deadlift 3 plate my max overhead press is 160 why don't my abs show i feel skinny but my abs don't show and my arms are small and undefined pic related my body

did you do any sport prior to lifting? do you eat at a deficit? are you incorporating cardio and are willing to sacrifice some strength loss for fat loss

I was a swimmer beforehand and always skinny so my bf % is naturally low. I have also been working out my core for years on end even though I recently picked up lifting. Do core exercises and other accessories. Burn fat by eating at a deficit and incorporating cardio.

i played a lot of sports before lifting but it's been so long i don't have the time anymore to go play sports like i used to. I still try to go for runs but i guess that's not enough my diet is wack too but for my strength levels i feel like my physique should be better i don't know if i need to get stronger or my muscle insertions are shitty i do curls on the side sometimes but i mainly try to stick with compound movements

yeah i do, mostly pull ups overhead press i don't train them directly that often

Is that because everyone around you is obese? You have too high body fat percentage to have visible abs. Lose some fat, 10 lbs or something.
I'm 188cm 83kg and I don't have visible abs. I can do 8 dead hang chin ups with 30 kg added and I can deadlift 4 plates. We have rather similar stats and neither has visible abs because high bf%, you feel skinny, I don't.

i live in america so more than likely everyone around here is mostly obese, but i feel like for my stats and height i should have a more muscular looking physique my arms are skinny looking from the side in a camera it doesn't even look like a workout but it's reassuring that you don't have visible abs neither when you have strong numbers

Bf% is too high. Abs are earned half in the gym and half in the kitchen. If you're really that desperate, start eating deficit and sacrifice some muscle to burn off that fat. Otherwise keep bulking.

WTF you are my goal weight (170 currently), a bit stronger than me, yet you seem to look worse than me? What’s your routine like, and you mentioned rarely doing isolations. Personally isolations are around a third to 40% of my workout so maybe you should do more of those.
Also bf% May be an issue

If you don’t do any isolations for core, absolutely do those.

Also arm work is a bit of arm work is good usually, like a few sets or curls/triceps extensions and the end of a session. Also are you running a program and which one?

I'm not running any specific program I just do compound lifts Monday Wednesday Friday and I try to progress slowly and steadily I love doing pull ups and chin ups so I mainly focus on those

Ok try adding some isolations in at the end would be my best suggestion, maybe some cardio on your off days to help with bf%

I do construction work, I'll use my job as cardio I just need to clean up my diet because I don't track anything and eat whatever I'll incorporate more isolation thanks

You look significantly bigger than me I don't know why my body looks weird when compared to other people at my height and around my weight maybe it's a muscle insertion thing I have high bicep insertion I think my chest has Shitty insertion too

Shitty chest insertions are a killer, my chest gap is about the size of my hand (why I stopped benching to focus on OHP, didn’t feel like my chest would ever look good).

I’m not lean man, I’d say in person we look around the same size if I lean up a bit.
Just anecdotal I felt that preacher curls and pull-ups at least twice a week really helped my biceps, they look/feel like a proper ball now
