Why are normie strength standards so low?

Attached: images-31.jpg (495x297, 17K)

idk but yeah for some reason 2pl8 squat is impressive to people at my uni gym

Was your form really bad or half squat?

"Deload"

Was squatting below parallel.

Dude was squatting 40kg/90lb, think he thought he was getting strong and got annoyed that someone was lifting more.

What fuckin gym do you go to. I squat two plate and I’m like the weakest guy there lol

Happened to me. Some personal trainer tried to impress his client by nitpicking the tiniest things about my squat. When I asked him to demonstrate, he literally squatted my weight with 1/4 ROM. When I called him out, he said squatting below parallel is bad for the knees and spine.

My opinion? Get out of big box gyms save for maybe Gold's They're literally the buckets that holds the crabs.

Breh it’s almost annoying how low normie strength standards are. And just normie lifting knowledge in general.
I try to tell my friends that 1/2/3/4 is possible after a year of good training and diet and they’re all baffled, even though I have done it. they think i’m some sort of genetic anomaly or something and not just a normal guy who decided to actually do research on lifting before I got into it.
Like how do you dedicate multiple hours every week to something and not spend a little free time researching what it is you’re doing? That’s like practicing guitar for an hour a day but never buying a single chord book or watching a lesson online.

What's up with the quartersquaters who think they go below parallel?

No idea.

Haven't seen anyone go atg at my gym for like 4 years now. There's a guy that goes below parallel but not enough for thighs to touch calves.
Seems like people have flexibility issues or they're just lazy.

had this yday when I was DLing 4pl8.

Some guy got super pissed I was lifting more than him, started acting like a dick around me, getting in my way when I was lifting etc.

only on /fit. You're saying the guy who squats 225 is more likely to be a shitcunt than the guy squatting 90?

Normies do it all the time with everything, my buddy went WELL CYCLING IS EASY IMMA START CYCLING NOTHING HARD ABOUT IT JUST CYCLE and blew his knee. Then he went, LIFTING IS EASY IMMA JUST START LIFTING NOTHING HARD ABOUT IT JUST LIFT LMAO and blew his knee on leg press. Now he's going, LMAO RUNNING IS EASY NAH NO NEED TO RESEARCH PROPER FORM IT'S ALL EASY JUST RUN LOL.

Teach me anons, I don't want to be a normie lifter
I'm like 3 months in on greyskull LP and my lifts are:
>ohp: 48kg / 106 lbs
>squat: 62kg / 137 lbs
>bench: 63kg / 139 lbs
>diddy: 106kg / 234 lbs
Will I make it?

>48kg ohp
>62kg squat
wat

unironically try very very hard, ended up with a 165kg x 3 x 5 squat on ss just by trying very very hard. Could have squeezed more but my form went to shit because my medial glutes were weak and unable to stabilize knees, probably because I dropped deadlifts like a dumbass

Yeah I know, my squat is pretty pathetic and I'm working on it.

I thought the same lmao. he's probably doing push presses.

No, I'm doing OHP with good form, I don't cheat my reps by bouncing the bar
It's just that my legs are underdeveloped

>try very very hard
When I do this it feels like my head is going to explode
Is this normal? Is it possible to valsalva too hard?

wow you sound too big. Stop lifting so much.

It’s unlikely until you start working with very heavy weights. Even then it’s still not really worth worrying about. One of the stronger guys at my uni gym was taken to the ER and received treatment for eternal bleeding when he passed out after bracing too hard during his squat set.

>eternal bleeding
Fuck does he have to get blood transfusions 24/7?

>failing at riding a bike for exercise
That guy is a danger for himself and others.

Did anyone celebrate Rich Piana's birthday a couple of days ago??

idk, I have no standard since ive never seen anyone sqaut or deadlift at my gym the past few years
Meanwhile I squat 5 plate for doubles and 6 plate deadlifts for triples.

What do you mean? Do people come up to you to say they think you're egolifting?

greentext it for us lad

I had a 135 OHP, 175 bench, and 200 squat at the same time. Each went up by 5 lbs a session but OHP started to stall because of less muscle mass being used, so it makes sense. By the time a guy hits 2pl8 bench, their OHP should be well past 1pl8

Ego lifting is useful in moderation, you have to actually push yourself so you can control heavier weights.

Underrated

Nobody does lower body and anything over 225lb on a barbell scares the masses of people who only know how to 40lb dumbbell presses and rows for thousands and thousands of sets.

>Like how do you dedicate multiple hours every week to something and not spend a little free time researching what it is you’re doing?
Like the other guy said that's normies in a nutshell. Have seen this happen in every hobby.

>2 plate
>ego lift
>mfw Im struggling to do 165 lb squat for 5x5
ill make it I swear to god

>eternal bleeding

I got an exertion headache squatting 85 kg after my 3rd month of lifting.

Shit SUCKED. As in REALLY FUCKING SUCKED.

Take care, m8. It's not worth it - you'll get there.

Exertion headaches suck but it's user error beforehand not the lift itself that causes them

No, they should be about even (2pl8 Bench is equivalent to 145 OHP). If it's far off the Person is push pressing in 9/10 cases

Man, same, and I go to a fuckin' Goodlife lol. OP is lifting with middle schoolers I guess.

Anyone squatting 225 is a middleschooler

Adam Thrall says squatting too low is bad and I listen to him for everything so that's why I don't

how much do you weight?

I can personally guarantee you have more in you on the squat and deadlift, you just aren't trying hard enough.

>eternal bleeding

Odd I also learned squats from anal thrall and he recommended going low to me

There's a video of his titled going too low is bad or something like that. I just go for slightly below parallel.

desu I'm just glad I workout in my basement cause this thread pisses me off. I'd be so pissed if anyone tried to talk to me while lifting

>newfags falling for the eternal bleeding bait
and here I thought summer was over
