Ive heard 10,000 iu a day from my nurse instructor
It takes a lot to overdose on vitamin d
My whole body was vibrating though, maybe it's because I'm a nordic dude and need much less
Shut the fuck up lmao, people have taken 10000ius daily for years under doctor supervision with no negative impact. In fact, there is really no evidence supporting the idea that you could reasonably ever overdose on vitamin D (inb4 reee fat-soluble, vitamin k is also fat soluble and there is no established upper limit and no evidence of toxicity in humans at all).
People get administered 100k+ IUs daily for weeks with no side effects.
If you take vitamin d, do you need to supplement k2 to prevent calcium build up? I read something about that and it made me nervous.
4000 IU a day is not too much. You may even need that much to maintain optimal vitamin D levels.
It takes ASSLOADs of vitamin D supplements to move your serum levels up. I've been taking 10k for 2 months and my levels moved from 40 up to 65 ng/ml (I'll chill for two weeks and go back to 5k).
If you aren't sure get your levels tested (it's like $60). Take 4k IU for a month or two, then retest.
i have 10,000IU capsules. 10,000 isn't shit, you have to take huge doses for a long time to see signs of toxicity.
I took Magnesium and k2, helped with overdose symptoms
>4000 IU a day is not too much.
There have been cases where guys took less than 1000 IU for a month and suffered from symptoms though.
I live in the cloudy, dreary shithole that is the Pacific Northwest of the United States, where we don't see the sun for months on end. I take 8000 IU/day as a maintenance dose. It significantly improves my mood.
>In fact, there is really no evidence supporting the idea that you could reasonably ever overdose on vitamin D
google hypervitaminosis D, I'm sure you'll get the evidence
There's no reason not to be taking k2, so you probably should anyhow. There's no evidence that taking small amounts of vitamin D (~10k IU) a day for your entire life having any negative side-effects.
but why should I take 5000% of my RDA daily?
>could reasonably ever overdose
>reasonably
Overdose has been observed at 1,925 µg/d (77,000 IU per day). Acute overdose requires between 15,000 µg/d (600,000 IU per day) and 42,000 µg/d (1,680,000 IU per day) over a period of several days to months.
why do people even take vitamin d
why not just go outside once in a blue moon
Because the RDA is defined as the absolute minimum to prevent death. It's not a healthy amount for almost anyone, especially if you're trying to counteract environment or a condition, or if you're trying to do something like build muscle, etc. It's based on an "average person". Just think about that. Are you average? Non-gendered, average weight, average diet, etc.?
Some of us live in places where we don't see the sun for months each year and can't even get enough sunlight in the summer.
What the other guy said, and I'm not here to inform or convince you as to why hitting bare minimum RDAs isn't optimal for health or why specifically vitamin D is necessary and incredibly beneficial.
Do some basic research if you are gonna bother take something breh.
I'm average everything
just live in a not retarded place lmao
That's absolute horseshit. Source?
The only case I've seen involved someone who got misdosed vitamin D and was taking over 100,000 IU a day FOR MONTHS before having symptoms (which were really shitty and nearly killed her).
But relying on the RDA is absolute horseshit, especially as plenty of doctors are realizing people at or above this RDA have vitamin D insufficiency.
Plenty of people in sunny locations that do get lots of sun still have low vitamin D levels.
Also sun causes premature aging, avoid at all costs.
>RDA is defined as the absolute minimum to prevent death
I'm working on that. I lived in the desert for a while. it was amazing. 330 days a year of bright sunshine, the exact opposite of this moldy shithole.
If you don't a) live really close to equator and/or b)have a schedule or lifestyle that allows you to be in the sun at peak hours in minimal clothing for an hour literally every single day and or c)live in a place that half the damn year is winter/fall...
then you should be supplementing
bullshit. you get 1000IU - 2000IU from 20-30 minutes of sun exposure. so do australians or south americans suffer vitamin d overdose when they're outside in the sun all day?
But my ancestors didn't a) live close to the equator and/or b) spend a lot of time outside and/or c) live near the poles. None of them were affected by Vitamin D deficiency, nobody ever complained.
OK, OK, maybe it's more than that. But not by much, and it is based on a reference person, which won't match but a few percent of the population anyway. It's a broad statistic, and as we all know about fitness, there are rules but they need to be adjusted (sometimes in major ways) for everyone.
I don't know who you are reffering to but your ancestors almost certainly spent way more time outdoors and in the sun than you. People in northern latitudes at loads of vitamin D rich fish and in the case of europe, also lots of milkfat.
oral supplementation is different from just going outside. If you're taking in a huge amount of Vitamin D3, you'll overstress the receptors and cause hypercalcemia. It's different from the amount your body is producing by itself, because the co-factors are up- or downregulated according to what's required. Most of the vitamin D your skin produces is stored in your bodyfat, ingested vitamin D goes straight into the bloodstream.
>my ancestors didn't spend a lot of time outside
[X] DOUBT
and how did my ancestors not die of hypovitaminosis then mister goldberg?
and if i'm not getting enough sun as you're saying then why am i tanned as shit
could it be that you're a vitamin shill?
also my great grandparents always said that you're supposed to work on the field in the morning so you don't get fucked from the summer sun
also my people's traditional clothing always covers a substantial area of the body
i'm a yuropoor btw
I take d3, magnesium glycinate, fish oil, zinc and a b complex for some energy. I'm about to buy some K2 and Biotin. Should I get anything else? Or is my urine expensive enough already?
Eat silver
don't forget to supplement a megadose of vitamin k user
and go over the recommended dosage because you'll get massive gains
Even though i get plenty of sunshine on average, i unfortunately work indoors so i go 9 hours at a time without any sunlight
but everyone does
sleeping is a thing user
because there is a huge fucking gap between deficiency and death you fucking mongoloid.
Taking vit d is proven to even slow aging and improve performance when you can't get enough from sunlight exposure.
It doesn't take much to overdose on vitamin D lmao, literally half of people on earth have fucked up calcium and phosphorous resorption
4000 IU is for obese people, if you're not, stick to 2000 IU
Obviously not including sleeping my man
my pc is literally right next to the window
if that counts as sunlight then i'm getting it literally all day every day
plus i wouldn't be tan if i wasn't getting enough
just drink milk, faggot
don't.... don't
okay, then you don't need it. what now. You know some people have a thing called winter, where you get barely any sun. Well, those people will benefit from vit d.
If you live in some bumfuck desert or in the jungles of Ecuador then sure, you don't fucking need it. Nobody says take it every day, just on days where you don't get enough sunlight.
>you'll need d3 of you're not a nigger
i live in yurop m8
also we have sunlight in winter
that's only a problem for the nordcucks
you are retarded. Even the fucking russian athletes are supplementing vit D during winter because it improves their performance.
If you are in a place where you get snow there is a 99% chance you are at least slightly deficient in vit d in winter.
provide source
i live in a humid continental climate
being in the sun completely naked in a sunny area without clouds generates about ten fold within the hour or more in some cases. You decide if it's bad for you.
It's ok, you'll get calcified arteries and have a stroke at 35 but who cares maybe you get a disability check and you can live in a VR waifu paradise until your physical entity dies.
overdose on vitamin D isn't dangerous tho so who cares if you overdose
