>be me >18 yr old fresh out of hs from US >bored, depressed with current life >all my friends went off to college >me at home currently neet >guy at gym approached me cuz i just shaved my head asking if i was in the military >said no >he tells me about the air force and it's benefits >later thinking about joining in bed that night >1 week later, decide to apply online >couple days later the recruiter calls me and i set up an appointment >just met up with recruiter >scheduled asfab next thursday
so should i do it anons? i'm in perfect physical shape 6' 175lbs fit.
Do you have no other prospects in your life? Do you not have any particular desires and ambitions regarding your future?
If you're answer to both of the question is a no then yes, you should do it.
Ayden Perez
This. It's gonna suck op.
Nathaniel Moore
>you're answer your* my bad
Samuel Gomez
>enlisting pretty bad idea
Jacob Cook
It sucks but it's fun too, if you've got nothing else then sign up for the minimum and at least get free college out of it.
Joseph Fisher
dont do it you will hate yourself
Dominic Hernandez
At the most I'd say go guard. Enlisting is volunteering to go to prison for 4/6 years
Chase Nguyen
It's a far better idea to have a degree before you go.
Isaiah Bell
If you still need the military after getting a degree then you got the wrong one
Julian Thomas
Or maybe you just want to join the military?
Eli Barnes
At least the airforce is the better choice Become a cargo pilot preferably helicopter
Elijah Russell
You get to shower with a bunch of twinks. That alone is worth it.

Sign the shortest contract possible for a job that you think you might like/transfers to a civilian career. Don't get suckered in to a 6 year contract by a 20,000 bonus for 'fuel supply specialist' (gas pumper). If you like it you can re-enlist with a bonus, or you can get out after 3 and go to school or some shit.
Justin Ramirez
College is pretty much paid for after service and you will hate life during service so you will be more motivated to get a degree after.
Jaxson Murphy
Great people. Really great people, the airforce. They really, and I mean this, they really do, without anyone else! Without anyone else, folks. They do the things... That nobody wants to do. They go, doing the killing and the crusading. For the good of America! For the good, and it is such good Work that they do, truly good Work. And you know, we have to, we need to see them as what they are. As what they are. These people are PATRIOTS, folks! Patriots!
Bentley Jackson
There's a military enlistment general on Jow Forums if you have any questions.
If you have nothing else going for you and no other ambitions, you should give it a shot. 4 years will go by in a flash, you'll have a better idea of what you want to go to college for, and your college will be paid for (you might even get credit while serving if you have a technical rate).
A couple of things to keep in mind. DO NOT GET SUCKED INTO A LONGER CONTRACT. They'll offer you like $2000-$5000 for a longer contract depending on your rate, DO NOT FALL FOR IT. When you see how much money you're making while serving, you'll realize how fucking small $2000 is. If there's a job you're interested in specifically, DO NOT SIGN UP FOR ANYTHING ELSE. I've seen so many retards sign up for a job they're uninterested in just because they'd have to wait longer to join if they waited for the job they wanted or from pressure by the people at MEPS. You'll most likely have to wait before you ship anyway, just fucking wait for the job you want to become available and keep in contact with your recruiter about it. Now's actually a really good time to go rare rate hunting because the fiscal year started less than a week ago.
Angel Flores
Talk to other branches as well. Find what job appeals to you and request it. Don’t sign anything unless you see exactly what you want in writing while making sure you aren’t signing any bullshit.
Be selfish when it comes to this. You will have uni paid for when you get out, so that’s a good deal there.
Brody Myers
Fucking go for it man, I’ve been losing weight cuz manlet, I’ll be close behind you if you go in.
>This. It's gonna suck op. Air force is easy mode. It would only suck if you actually suck at everything as a person.
Hunter Cox
This is true.
Bentley Sullivan
Every thread anons come in and say not to do it, but not once do they give a specific reason why
Julian Harris
What if I already hate myself?
Adam Hill
Not OP, but I'm going in soon too. I need to lose another minute off my 1.5 mile, add 15 pushups and 20 more crunches to the 2 minute goal, and lose 15 more lbs.
Jace Wright
Just be prepared for a lifetime of chair force jokes.
Brandon Campbell
There are bad things about it, like you could get stuck with shit command that make your life hell to protect their own or their friends asses, but a lot of the time when this happens you'll have some officer come in and just clean house.
David Johnson
Army officer fag here. Almost enlisted myself but was talked out of it by a guidance councilor. Enlisting is a good stepping stone if you have a vague plan for what you want to do after. It’s gonna suck for 4 years and then you’ll go to college on the GI bill as an older freshman who is annoyed by all the immaturity in college. Aim for an MOS that you can use outside of the military.
Considerations for branches: Air Force. Easiest, hottest girls. Hardest to get a useful job. Navy. Travel the most all over the world. Stuck with a bunch of guys all the time. Army. Has the most money and job variety. Most of what you do will be dumb bullshit unrelated to your job. Marines. Hardest physically. Most tight nit group.
Hope this helps
Daniel Perez
>not going for an option 40 in the army have fun pushing paper bb
Henry Wood
Join the army and oush yourself to be a ranger, son.
Aaron Allen
I'm not the OP, but I have an associates degree and I'm considering enlisting and serving my 4 years, and if I like it I'd go for officer after finishing my degree. What's the opinion on enlisted going for officer?
Jackson Ross
fucking do it user. let the training force you to internalize the real world and be free of bullshit surrogate activities that replace real satisfaction from earning something real. your friends will circlejerk about money in public and cry on your shoulder later that night that nothing brings them satisfaction because their meal comes at no real cost and they've just been going through the motions.
Aiden Cruz
Far better than neeting. You can also go to a college after for free (If I understand American laws propertly)
Easton Brooks
Unless you have great college prospects, you can't lose money ey joinu g the military. There's basically no faster way to get off your parents teat if that's a concern.
Ryder Garcia
>Air Force. Easiest, hottest girls. Hardest to get a useful job. Airfag here; you're wrong about AF girls. There's a reason all of us steer clear of USAF chicks and date civilians instead.
Luis Cooper
ctrl+f meg
you're welcome
Blake Campbell
Been in AF for a little over 2 years. The lifestyle is great imo, free college and a job I enjoy. And definitely the most attractive women, all the med techs are 8/10+ at my base. Just take the 4 year enlistment unless you going for an AFSC with a dope ass signing bonus. Then take the 6. Also go overseas. Just do it. Volunteer for Korea and apply for a follow on to Europe or Japan or something. 9/10 times you get what you ask for.
Nicholas Mitchell
fpbp. have fun dying for Israel and giving your youth to the us gov
Hunter Gray
you know what else is fun? basketball. you don't have to sign away a chunk of your life and risk death to play basketball.
Mason Cook
lmao thus faggot got memed into the military by playing too much CoD
Oliver Foster
why? you can get your degree there, paid for by the tax payer.
Owen Brooks
Chairforce is good OP
>Full benefits >Travel the world and get your dick sucked in several languages >Get out and get a free college ride to a better life without a broken body >Army or Marines= goodbye healthy joints >Navy is alright >Coastguard=???
Blake Reyes
Anyone use the GI bill to pay for law school after?
Also, how exactly does OCS and the officer system work? Do they choose based on your degree? What kind of roles are there?
PoliSci/Econ major btw. also I'll have an undergrad thesis in security and might do a master's in poli sci by the time i'm out, so i'm not just jerking off with it
Parker Fisher
Do you really get to travel the world? In the air force only or could you do it in the army as well? The travel is a huge appeal for me. I want to be a medic. If travel is not guaranteed though I'd rather just be a civilian EMT.
Bentley Wright
Army vet here. Both true but this second post isn't as true for air force. Air Force is safer than being in any metropolitan city. It's an office job.
Knowing now what I know, I wouldn't have done it but now that I did the GI Bill is a nice package. I would recommend going to an in-state school and banging through a degree with prospects, where you'll pay back your debts soon enough and be much closer to long-term career goals than if you joined the military.
Elijah Long
Army travelling a lot is not a meme but it's not always under great circumstances.
Jackson Price
Yes good goy. Do my bidding for oil... Yessssss... Uh eh I mean for freedom.. yes ....
Every word of this is true. Thank you for your service
Sir
Nolan Cooper
Unless you score really high on the ASVAB, odds are you’ll get stuck with Security Forces as your job like every other retard that thinks they’re smart enough for the Air Force. Expect slow promotions, long hours, a lot of boredom, and a lot of embellishing/lying come promotion season.
Pretty lit otherwise.

I did some research into applying. You have to apply to OCS and be accepted. They want people with Bachelors and the acceptance rate varies depending on branch and administration in the White House.
Xavier Martinez
This. you can graduate with little to no debt by going to a state school, working part time/summers, and budgeting effectively.
Christopher Wilson
i'm leaving for navy ocs in 9 days they don't care much about your degree but STEM is preferred (I have a fine arts degree lol). GPA should be above a 3.0 but much more important than that are your scores on the OAR/ASTB and your letters of recommendation. For the ASTB you'll want above a 60 7/7/7 for a really solid score. If you have outstanding, detailed LoRs from high ranking officers (retired or active) or, like, congressmen or something that will go a long long way.
In the navy you choose a community to join and then get filtered into jobs during your training pipeline. There are tons of roles but in general terms you have Surface, Subs, Aviation, Intel, Special Warfare, and Supply.
Anthony Reed
I'm in the Air Force. Join, do college, and get out. The benefits can't be beat. You will embrace the suck sometimes. You will make way more money once you get out and if you're smart have a decent chunk of change saved up. Plus an education, security clearance, life long benefits, and the ability to say you were in (provided you're not a fuck up and get an honorable).
Michael Brown
OCS depends on branch. Dont do army its gay. You have to complete enlisted boot first before you get an OCS contract and if they want to fuck you and not commission you they can just force you to be an infantry grunt.
Navy OCS depends on your designator. Pretty sure it's the only branch that let's you pick your designator before you sign, which is a huge plus. Supply/intel/swo/aviation and special warfare (SEALS/EOD) is pretty much wide open in terms of degrees, they all take anything. Medical is pretty strict for aviation and seals though. Nukes and civil engineer corps have to have an engineering or physics background, math/compsci strongly preferred for crypto.
Levi Rivera
This.
Air Force girls just like all military girls are hoes. Be prepared to have sexual misconduct allegations thrown at you for fucking around with them. I'm not exaggerating, I personally know 3 guys who made the mistake of dicking down AF girls and were investigated. The most egregious of which: >One guy fucked a bitch in his work >She hated where she worked >Accused him of rape >She was moved to a more cozy job to escape him, and his file is now as thick as a harry potter book because a girl said he did something with no proof at all and that was enough to damn near destroy his career This guy was planning to stay in for life, but has essentially been forced into retirement at the end of his enlistment next year. He has almost no opportunity to progress, and everyone knows about the accusation. Even though there is no proof and he was investigated for almost a year and nothing was found, his life in the Air Force is still basically over.
DO NOT fuck with military girls.
Dominic Morales
This 100% Women do not belong in the military and this is one of the many reasons why.
Jonathan Ramirez
you can get below a 98 on the asvab?
Jose Clark
They're called Air Mattresses for a reason.
One of my coworkers lost everything to a false sexual assault charge. a decade of Active Duty and lost it all and now is taking college courses out of pocket while working a dead end job at 30.
The thing is the SAPR rules make it easy to falsely accuse with no repercussions and AF women are encouraged to report any form of sexual infraction, including just regretting or being dissatisfied with consensual sex after the fact.
Fuck it I'm bored I'll dump the other two stories >Guy I know is TDY'd >His wife gets to move on base after the housing waiting list clears up, husband is gone though >A bunch of the husband's coworkers are voluntold to help her move on base by the supervisor, "it'd be the nice thing to do I'll give you all an EPR bullet" >Once everything is moved in, only one guy stays to help her assemble the furniture and stuff >I know this guy personally, all of this is straight from him >As he is building a bed frame or something, the wife comes in starts talking about how nice it is of him to help and how much she misses her husband >She moves into how lonely she has been, etc >She eventually kisses him, friend does nothing to stop her but nothing to go further either >They don't have sex but he tells everyone what happened >Obviously a mistake because the news spreads >Makes its way to the supervisor >This is very bad news, cheating is a big deal in the military >Originally, friend is not in any trouble he did nothing wrong >The husband is informed >The wife insists the guy forced himself on her, and only stopped once she gave him a kiss >Immediately investigation process starts, friend is removed from work center for a few days and eventually altogether once the husband comes back to avoid any fighting >He now, still to this day, is essentially a janitor because that is the only place the Air Force could think to dump him
Xavier Wilson
If you get a job you actually enjoy it's worth it imo. Just be suspicious of everything your recruiter promises you. Don't get pressured into fulfilling their quotas. Do as much research as possible. Don't just limit yourself to the airforce, although it is the "nicest" branch to serve in. Explore your options. It's a big decision, you'll be signing away your prime years, so just take your time. And pay no heed to the anti-semetic/oil money memes. Do what the fuck you want to do. The chance you'll actually die in combat, even if you're one of the few at the tip of the spear, is negligable. And even if you die, you'll be one of the last humans to die like an alpha warrior before soldiers are replaced by robots and hackers.
Ryder Johnson
On the other hand >chief goes out to same gutter bar in norfolk near ODU every weekend in port >picks up gutter sluts since his 3rd wide left him >picks up gutter slut, rails her in her hotel room, goes home >Monday morning rolls around >chief standing around the quarterdeck talking to the other divo in his department, who is expecting his relief to arrive that morning >ensign gutterslut comes across the brow >makes eye contact, says nothing >ensign gutterslut looks concerned, but doesnt say anything to anyone
He had 2 years left on that ship and they never spoke to each other.
Juan Howard
Last one >In maintenance field >Running the field is a hard life, long hours, heavy lifting, cold weather >Obviously none of this would be very appealing to girls, but some of them are pushed into it anyway >One girl is dispatching with two other guys >I know both of these guys, one of them is my best friend who is married and is a liberal who pushes for all kinds of female empowerment mumbo jumbo >Whatever, I don't agree with all that stuff but I've known this guy since day one of basic so we're good buddies >All types of messed up shit is said in the military, it is just the culture of the job >They were making jokes about rape >The girl got personally offended and went as far as to say she felt threatened >Both of the guys were investigated and forced to take green dot SAPR women are always right tier classes >My good buddy was forced to be an instructor for green dot, had to do X number of hours >On top of his job >For like half a year
Jack Cox
We had a group called Pure Praxis come and do a SAPR training at my command.
This is a group of literal gramsci communist faggots from LA getting paid by the federal government to fly around the world and poison the military with their bullshit ideology.
Duck what that other user said, we really do serve the jew.
Evan Fisher
Air force is jammy, do it. t. faggot who joined the Navy and hates his life.
