Fast is a thread for the discussion of intermittent fasting, fasting, water fasting, and dry fasting.

>What’s the difference between intermittent fasting, water fasting, dry fasting, etc.?
>Intermittent fasting: Fasting for a certain amount of time with a short eating window. 16:8 (16 hours fasting, 8 hour eating window) is the bare minimum.
>Water fasting: Fasting with only water.

Read all of these, they might answer some other questions you may want to ask.

>Can I fast if I have ___?
See your doctor before fasting if you:
>Have any sort of chronic illness
>Have gout
Don’t fast if you:
>Have type 1 diabetes
>Are malnourished/severely underweight
>Are pregnant
>Are breastfeeding

>How do I safely do an extended fast?
Take snake juice.
>2000mg of sodium (preferably Himalayan Pink Salt) max
>4700mg of saltless potassium max
>Mix these in a liter of water and sip it throughout the day.
The apple cider vinegar and lemon are optional.
You can also do this if you feel lightheaded, weak, dizzy, nauseous, etc., on shorter water fasts. Don’t do this while intermittent fasting.

>Won’t I go into starvation mode?
No. It only occurs at extremely low body fat (8-10%).

>Will (something with calories) break my fast?
Yes, headass.

>Can I drink coffee, tea, and diet soda? Or anything with artificial sweeteners?
Sure

>Do I need a multivitamin?
No

Ok, time to bite.
I have a good amount of loose skin, loss 141lbs in about 10 months. 6' 2" and was 336lbs. Life is so much better but the skin is an issue.
Just got a full checkup and physical from the doctor last week, I'm very healthy but I just have excess skin from loosing the weight so fast.
From what I've read it's dry fasting that will help me. I know I can't lift while fasting and should keep activity to a minimum but the main question is this:
How long do I need to dry fast to help tighten the skin. OR how many times do I need to cycle doing short dry fasts? It's a good amount of skin, it folds over my stomach to my belt and I have excess on my chest and butt.
Any info is appreciated and ask any questions if you need more info.

Dude there was already another /fast/ that was made half an hour before this one

>Dude there was already another /fast/ that was made half an hour before this one

Well fuck off and post in that one then.

>implying that's natty (arm size x leanness)

Dry fasting my well help, but there are limits and from the sound of it you may be above those limits. Dry fasting helps by forcing the body to scavenge fat cells and tissue to obtain water, but what you're talking about is not just the underlying fat cells and tissue, but folds of skin. If the elasticity in the skin hasn't reduced to the size of "the new you" after several months (you don't say when you reached your goal), then it is unlikely to shrink now, regardless of the method used.

Surgery to remove the excess skin may be the only realistic option. More detail is required.

Pic related is Sep 1st. Ive gone up a tad in weight because of lifting and eating since my low of 195lbs.
Only thing about surgery is it would be major. Cut from hip to hip, same on my ass, then chest. I've seen people go in for surgery and come out great and some either die or be worse off. Not to mention the cost of the surgery would be huge (over 80K if overnight hospital stay is required) and insurance won't cover it.

What does fasting do?

holy shit great work dude

That is genuinely awesome work man. When you talked about folds of skin I was expecting some "My 600 pound life" shit, but it's not actually that bad really.

In your position I would measure and photograph it precisely against a regular background so that you can see the exact changes and then do dry fasting (72 hours if you can manage it), then a break for one or more days to refeed/rehydrate and repeat. Do this for a couple of months and use the measurements and photographs to see if it is making any difference. If it is then keep going until it restores shape, if not, well surgery is there if it doesn't work.

Still good work though bro!

thanks only second time posting pic ever.
Ha, no not that bad. I could only imagine what hell those people are going through at 600lbs or even over 400. I didn't realize it but I felt like shit then, hate to know what they feel like.
Would shorter dry fasts work the same or would the effect be substantially weaker? After hurricane florence I'm sawing trees a lot and cleaning up a ton. Also work involves some lifting so if I could do bursts of 1 dry fast day that could maybe work. Also should I ease into it?

Like one day of water fast, then dry fast, then one day of water to get back to food? That is the biggest issue.

I feel like I'm so close but I want the results as quick as I can which isn't going to happen most of the time. So close to wearing the clothes I want but the damn muffin top is ruining that so far, that really makes me impatient compared to how far I've come. I'm gonna make it one way or another.

I esnt to go deeper into this rabbithole.

>Would shorter dry fasts work the same or would the effect be substantially weaker
The longer you can do the more the body is forced to draw upon its own reserves to provide water, but you don't have to start off at 72 hour dry fasts, start at whatever level you are happy with and gradually work yourself up from there over time.

Sorry, getting late here in the UK, so I can't really add much more. Bed calls and I've got work in the morning.

Raw meat and piss refeeds

Keep on fasting and lifting, see if thet skin won't receed a bit, it might fill out a bit and tighten up

Will my stomach ever shut the hell up? It's been four days and it's constantly making noises. Today has been the worse yet.

Good stuff dude.

Can someone just clear something really simple up for me?

If I'm fasting with snake juice, do I ONLY drink snake juice? Or am I allowed to have a regular water bottle not mixed with that stuff?

Yes, and in fact snake man I think recommends more salt than the RDA so you should avoid putting 7g of salt in your drink

Snek man made an update to the recipe, idk why the OP hasn't changed the quantities yet

Just wanted to say wow good job. I'd just suggest intermittent fasting, ideally something more restrictive than 16:8 - maybe a 20:4. The tighter the window the easier it would be to eat at a deficit.

I'm no expert but with regards to the excess skin I'd give it some time before making any major decisions (surgery) or radical lifestyle changes. Your body went through a massive transformation in less than a year.

Dunno what your routine is but I imagine exercise which maximizes calorie burn and perspiration would be your best bet. I'd mix some high-rep circuit-styled resistance and calisthenics work with straight up cardio.

Fucking beastly

Afternoon,
Been fasting for 73 days now staring weight 85.6kgs today 62.2kg only doing cardio as I have too much injuries to lift "war related" I'm happy with myself for once. Is t possible to get a 6 pack I'm currently doing alot of lower ab work as of this week as it seems I have the remaining lower fat on the bottom of my belly and chest is slowly going too.

>post-refeed shits

I wanna try a maximum meme omad keto no sugar month
Do I have to chug olive oil to make this work? I really doubt I can stomach all of this at once

replace the breasts with thighs, more calories and they taste better + easier to cook

I think I'll have to go half and half, with that setup I had 150g of protein, with thighs, even at fucking 700g, I'm only hitting 120g

1400kcal
150g protein
81g fat
15g carbs
Now I just have to figure out two things: how to wolf down a kilo of food in an hour and how to not die in the process

Attached: IMG_20181005_011458.jpg (1080x1339, 111K)

What's your goal for OMAD keto? I have been doing it for 3 months the amount of protein you need is way less than you were told. I've gain muscle in my underdeveloped area while losing fat overall on 80g protein a day. Increase in human growth hormone from fasting along with keto is very muscle and protein sparing.

there's already a thread, wtf

What app are you using

I went from 135kg to 90kg with CICO, but in the past two months I've stalled, mostly cause I'm not counting calories, snacking, etc. OMAD would be good to have absolute control of my calories, keto is just a side thing, since it would be easy to do cooking once a day and not snacking

My fitness pal

If I fast 40 hours every other day do I still need snake juice?

Attached: 5B31A561-5E3A-48EA-8566-F5539F99220E.jpg (933x621, 120K)

No

Aight. I just hope the food I eat will keep my heart from exploding

I met a dude who started eating at 5 PM and it kind of inspired me, now I'm skipping breakfast and pushing lunch later and later. Ate at 1 PM today, I used to be an 11:30 guy.

Anyways, I do oly weightlifting and Saturday training is at 11 AM, and I usually eat before/during. What should I do? Just keep the fast and deal or maybe have a once-weekly cheat day?

Need to get them merged

Bro that shit is all pseudoscience. There is no official "dry fasting helps tighten skin" research and data proving it does. It's just people speculating that hur dur deplete water stores = less jiggle = tighter skin. It's bullshit. The real problem with excess skin comes from the fact that in order to keep your organs and muscles protected from the outside world, your body had to create NEW skin cells to stretch and facilitate your fat body. These new skin cells literally will never shrink or disappear on their own. There is only one objectively true answer to reducing how much skin is on your body. And you already know what that answer is. Everything else is a meme. Good work on the fat loss accomplishment but welcome to the shitty reality that is life after fat.

I broke my fast 40 hours in and I wasn't even hungry.
I was just bored.

Why do I do this to myself?

Attached: 1537666970613.png (281x375, 129K)

Only crazies like Cole think that dry fasting has special powers.
What you want is autophagy to destroy your unneeded cells.

I suggest one 5-day fast per week.

It doesn't have to be dry. I recommend a snake juice fast. Supplementing electrolytes will allow you to keep working out without feeling like shit.

>Why do I do this to myself?
Because you are human and we are week and fallible.

Channel your inner Superman a get fasting on my level (104+ and counting)

Attached: 9-11 Look Mommy I'm Superman.jpg (980x653, 212K)

Need autophagy in order to get rid of those skin cells. Need to fast in order for it to really get going. Angus Barbieri didn't have any skin issues.

You'll be fine, I do omad before bed and I'm not even hungry by noon.

Got my mom and dad on the fasting train. Dad been doing OMAD and 48s, dropped from 188 to 165. I'm so fucking proud. Meanwhile I'm down from 198 to 170. We're all going to make it.

Well done bro. Preach that fasting message to the universe. We are all gonna kick obesity and diabetus ass.

Attached: Diabetus.jpg (480x360, 18K)

Health benefits aside, I've saved so much damn money fasting. I never realized how much money I spent on food.

A couple of questions as I'm doing 18:6
1. What about skipping breakfast? Isn't that the "most important meal" of the day?
2. While doing workout, can I take my protein shake while fasting or should I wait for the 6h window to consume all required grams?
3. I generally don't eat sugar, carbs etc.. Should I focus on meat/fruits/veggies only or include the above as well?

Attached: fc5e1f09e6d64b68b2d2461f453c59c3.jpg (1024x1003, 61K)

If you start a gofund me I will pay into it. People love a success story.

1. skipping breakfast is fine unless you are prone to anxiety
2.that is food, not fasting
3.a whole food group isnt evil

Fasting is a meme. You'd be better off eating a slight deficit and lifting weights. Fatties in this thread are the last people on Earth who should give advice about health and fitness.

>and lifting
who said we weren't lifting?

Read the studies m8.
Fasting lets you cut with losing less muscle mass than a traditional deficit.

i miss grandpa omaw

The ones who die are likely people who don't bother with following directions on maintaining cleanliness until fully healed etc. Definitely, you should go for cosmetic repair.
Great job btw

Great work my dude

This is what I call a good day. 18 hours in my fast and it’s 7 am. I’ve been doing OMAD noon to noon everyday. Which is essentially monk mode.

Bout to lift some weights, skip ropes, and come home to a nice crab soufflé for lunch.

Dry fast to solve loose skin buddy no need to pay so much money

yes it's possible. go find out you body fat %, cbf converting to pounds but if you're lean then you should start seeing muscle and could go off multiple day fasts and introduce protein again

How do you stop nausea/fainting when taking public transport? (especially when have to stand)

If I do 184 hours of water fast (aproximately 8 days) will I die or faint? I'm not actually fat so I think I would be classified as skinny fat. I'm also thinking about throwing a couple of days dry fasting just to speed up the process. I want to lose as much weight as possible until next friday.

can you tell me your routine? did you just fast to lose weight or something else? i look like middle pic currently at 6’2 and same weight, super inspirational

HATE this faggot.
Simple as.

dry fasting is a meme way to die pls don't

Ok, so I'm just going to drink water for 1 week. I hope I don't die.

Don't bother with surgery. Just do a 30 day dry fast. It will tighten up the skin and you will be looking good.

I have a few questions, I'm 112lbs at 5'4'', goal would be 100lbs. Can I do one last long fast until I get there or it's better to make a few shorter ones?
Also should I aim lower than that to prevent going over my goal after the refeed? One last thing, is OMAD + 48hr fast on the weekend a good maintanace routine?

do one long one should only take just over a week.

Anyone got the graph or whatever of growth hormone levels at / past 21 days fasted?

Alright nice, thank you user
Is going something like 5lbs lower a good idea to make sure I get exactly to the goal weight after I refeed or is it useless?

yeh just in case you gain any back just make sure you dont go back to over eating

Attached: 1527439455735.png (812x760, 151K)

I wish I was in your shoes I can't get past the 30-40 hour mark without insane cravings and hunger

1. no thats a meme, i've been doing IF for 10+ years because I enjoyed sleeping more rather than having breakfast when I was in HS and college, no meal is "the most important". our body wasnt made to understand hours like we do, it's a human invention to organize our schedule

2. you didnt specify when you workout ... theres no harm in both waiting or taking it right away

3. fruits are sugar and carbs. if you're eating meats, veggie and fruits dont worry you probably have some decent macros

I would have died 10 times by now
First fast? Days 2 and 3 are hell. Be strong

insurance might cover it if you give yourself rashes in the flaps. just sit there at your desk or whatever and rub your skin flaps against your skin and itsself til they are crusty/bleeding then go to your doc.

>down to 120 lb
>still have bulging belly

It really is true that turbomanletism completely fucks up every aspect of your life

>eating less removes belly fat

it would lower your waist more. You need to exercise and target core

will sweating on snake diet lose my electrolytes?

Decided to hop on the carnivore train boys, today is day 1. Doing OMAD + kero carni and a 48 and a 72 a week. Wish me luck.

ofc, sweat contains salts (more sodium than potassium afaik)

for me the original recipe was too much for me, since i dont move, its cold here and i dont sweat

Yeah. I'll start tomorrow.

hey senpai,

I am doing a 3 day fast starting today. I gained like 3 or so pounds over the last couple weeks by eating nonstop cookies and ice cream.

this is my penance this is my just desserts (pun intended)

Wish me luck broheims.

I am approaching hour 24

One thing I will say the doctor told me was that I could gain weight back just enough till the skin tightens up and then loose the weight slower and allow my body to absorb the excess blood vessels and skin. So there is that option but I don't really care for it even though I don't rule it out. I did put my body though an extreme change but I never felt bad doing it, can honestly say I have NEVER felt better.

Thanks guys, really helps me feel even better. So nice to hear the positivity, you wouldn't believe the negativity (and it's still hard for me to believe) I've gotten when people are forced to look harder at themselves.
I just meant surgery in general and related to people in my life, not just the skin removal one, thanks for the info, all appreciated.

mostly just cutting calories, I tracked them everyday for months. Weigh everything and keep track. I ate so much sugar, salt, and fast food before I made the change I don't know how I did it...
I tried working out before I lost enough weight (body weight stuff) and it was torture. Quickly gave that up and it probably could have done more harm that good.
Once I was only a little overweight, around 220lbs or so?, I did couch to 5k for almost a month (didn't complete it), then some serious body weight stuff for two months, bought equipment and did SL 5x5 (don't recommend) for 1 month, and have been doing and continue to do Greyskull LP and absolutely love it.

>what is cortisol
Stop fasting all the damn time you moron.

Doing Alternate Day Fasting, as I understand you can eat whatever you want just don't go crazy on feasting days. How does alcohol play into this? If I Drank today and fasted tomorrow, would my fat loss not happen?

It depends what you drank. If you got loaded on beer (carbs) you would get kicked out of ketosis. However if you drank something where all the sugar had been converted to alcohol (e.g. vodka) then your ketosis would be effectively suspend while your body burnt the alcohol and then ketosis would result. Might take a few hours though.

dietdoctor.com/low-carb/keto/alcohol-guide

So guys my first 5 day fast is complete, longest I've ever fasted, feel fine so going for the week boys

>slight deficit

Enjoy reaching your goals years from now.

Should a non fat person fast?

based af

My best is 64 hours.

Of course. If you're already shredded then stick to OMAD.

I've decided on a 5:2 fasting routine but I want to know if it would be more beneficial to have 2 refeed days in a row or to space them out. The reason why I ask is that starting a fast is harder than continuing one but I always start suffering by day 5 from weakness and can't seem to find the right amount/ concentration of snake juice to fix the problem. Since both options are unpleasant and come with the risk of me giving up, which one would you recommend I try and stick with?

No, not for an extended duration, from what I can tell.

Fat people are far better at metabolizing fat and sparing muscle.

When ordinary people fast there's a pretty substantial portion of energy coming from muscle tissues.

So my guess is lean people will see increased muscle loss when fasting. To the point they would never achieve a very low body fat percentage through fasting alone.

you're supposed to fast until you can jiggle your teeth with your tongue
