I live in Shanghai, China. I go to a gym in the city center called "Physical". It's modern, has a squat rack, and costs EUR8/month. That's where the positives end. I swear Chinese people have the worst gym etiquette on the planet.

I live in beijing. My gym is part of my apartment complex and it's less populated than yours sounds but still i've experienced:

These things aside, I like the Chinese...they really don't give a fuck about etiquette but that's their culture. In the gym, my experience is that the serious lifters know a lot - they're very particular about flexibility and form. But as in the west, most are casual gym goers and don't know anything about lifting.

Your gym is 8euro a month, it is a shithole. I paid twice that in a shitty Chinese city where life is cheaper and only had the problem of people hogging the weights. I done a whole workout waiting about an hour to get on the Smith machine while one guy used it with 10kg each side. A decent gym in Shanghai is at least 3 times what you are paying, more like 4000-5000 a year. There you'd have PTs that don't bother you and have basic manners to not interior you.

You're right, they are fucking terrible in the gym, but its because its totally new to them, no gym culture at all.
It's not helped by the fact that only chinese dudes interested in lifting tend to be the lowest class spitting street dudes who have come into a bit of money.
The safety is awful too, some guy bought his 2 year old daughter, she ran around the gym while everyone was lifting, underneath machines and weights.
Live in UK, heavy chinese student area. Often the only white person in the gym (aside from a couple of the staff)
