There's a reasons EVERYBODY who has a fully comprehensive physique Deadlifts - because it is the greatest mass builder of all time. PERIOD.

Reminder to IGNORE posters saying Deadlifts are useless or dangerous, these people are DYELS who believe having two types of curl in their routine is optimal. The FACT is, every athlete (or powerlifter) who has ever achieved any significant fitness or strength related achievement has incorporated the Deadlift as a primary movement in their routine.

If you don't Deadlift, you clearly lack the sufficient hormonal profile to EVER reach your goals because 1) you aren't Deadlifting therefore you MUST be low test. So get out of this thread.

dl is good for core/ass/hamstrings but imo its better to focus on squats and do a dl variation as an accessory so you don't end up imbalanced
dl is also meh for grip because you end up using mixed/hook/straps

I'm not unhealthy and I really really enjoy powerlifting. It's a hobby and I really enjoy setting competitive goals and achieving them. Sometimes I fail, often it takes years longer than I anticipated but when was the last time you worked at something for several years?

425lbs for 2 is my max after 3 months of lifting. Only because I deadlifts everyday and have long ass arms and a tiny torso. (188cm height 203 cm wingspan, legs are two thirds my height)

5’10” 190lbs lifting for about 8 years
Current deadlift max is 535 for 1 (with mixed grip). All time maximum was 635 at bw 230 after about 6 years lifting and one year focusing on pumping up my lifts. I usually do working sets of 12 at 365 double overhand crush grip.
Deadlift is important, but pumping the weight of your deadlift up without a goal is potentially dangerous. If you’re a power lifter, by all means pump for that heavy single, but otherwise, training 5s, or 3s for speed, or hitting volume and focusing on the movement for your goals is what you should be doing. The deadlift is a great, and versatile, training tool.
